(damages the engine? does.t matter..it brings a smile on my face and thats what matters to me.(my bike my way). i do take care of it i polish the bike with (maxmoto) polise myself everyweek...keeks the bike shining. Can anyone tell me how to keep the black plastic shiney..? I use tyre foam ...i spary all the black plastic with it and the wipe it off. under the rear mudguard also. makes the bike look new (Nyaone has ahy other method to keep it shiney?)....dont know about the longterm damage it will do to the plastic though!!!!??(will replace them if required...i hear the spares are cheap to buy). Here is a pic of me again

get any vinyl polish.. that should do the job for matte parts.. like speedo console..
rvm's and side plastics along with tyre hugger etc. for the painted part..
if you can get turtle wax or collenite.

use the tire shiner only for tyres. it does the job however not sure what after effects it will have on plastics.

another note.. helmet missing ??
for indian roads with debris and stones.. please upgrade to shoes from open sandals. feet protection is important

what do you plan to upgrade to ??
600's or a litre class ?

Appreciate you lending your views on this ownership thread. Has your ASC found out the real cause of the 4-5k rpm rattle that the members have been talking about for over a year now?

First and foremost, congrats on being the first female owner of the CBR on this ownership thread.
Second of all if you don't mind, what bikes have you been riding prior to the CBR?
To answer your question, my ASC uses a waxoyl product for the plastic parts, but i know from experience(on my old Dio) that in about a year or two, the plastic will turn completely white.

Ride safe, and always wear a helmet(i don't see them in any of ur pics)

• Hi theironhorse99, thanx for the suggestion. will chk for the availability of the vinyl polish. i don't wear helmet while i am being photographed. :P i feel comfortable with sandals i got to the beach with the bike and so shoes are not good as sand goes into them. i wear helmet and shoes when i ride out of the city.OFF-TOPIC here is a pic of me with jonty Rhodes...without helmet...I em exactly behind the rider in the left.Jonty is on the right side,I was on my beloved Thunderbird
(TBCI)(Now sold)
Yes i want to upgrade but my choice is limited to 2 bikes only N650 and GT650R.

Note to Mods: u can delete the pic as it doesn't show a CBR.

• Thanx Nithesh . I used to have Thunderbird (sliver)(cast iron engine) got it 2ndhand (now sold) , wanted to set my hand before i upgrade .Sorry but true. i wear helmet very less....you see the guys are very scared when they see a girl on a scooty coz if she crashes then its the guy who get the bashing even if its the girls fault and when i on a bike go around without helmet people maintain a distance of a few Kms i guess... .
I too once out of the blue used was on the side panels and instantly it was turned white...my bad..the said panels are a bit coarse and not fine. had to take the wax off with VIM LIQUID.....(best to remove grease and oil...VIM LIQUID)...lol....

the white stuff is nothing but dried off wax. wash it well and it should go off..
i personally you waxpol vinyl since last 8 years on all the bikes and has been the best so far.
tried a few spray based stuff. did not really like. if you want the plastics to shine then
use vinyl polish. take a drop of it on a wet sponge and rub it once over the plastic parts.
buff it off with soft cotton cloth before it dries and they will be back to glory..

incase they have turned white due to regular sunlight exposure or grey shade
then it might take some time for them to get back to the original shade or darker.

off topic : cherry blossom works.. if completely turned white.. a few coats or liquid wax..
let it dry and then keep rubbing it. though dont use it on side panels you'd end up with
dirty pants. just for the tyre huggers or the car bumpers.. it work wonders.. just a jugaad

i use the same stuff even for my pc cabinets and shoes and gloves .. list is long...
look for vinyl/leather shiner or dashboard polish...

ASC people are nuts. they use the same polish everywhere. they have no idea of
automobile detailing. ideally you would need 4-5 diffrent polishes for a motorcycle detailing.

paint wax.
vinyl for plastics.
tyre shiners.
chrome polish ( if applicable).

If i were you, id give the 250R a year more to see if Honda has any plans for the 500R in India. There are many people waiting to jump ship onto the 500R including me(but il keep the 250 for commuting). The N650 is a great product in the 650 class. Also just because people keep distance from your bike doesnt necessarily mean you are in a safe zone There are infinite ways to get into an accident.. for eg: my front fork seal gave up and i had oil leak for more than a 100 kms before somebody at a fuel station pointed it out to me. Had they not informed me, i wouldnt have made it home that day. You cannot predict the situations, atleast grab hold of an open face helmet for city riding. And remember the saying "The streets are filled with Idiots" :P
Cheers

• Wow, great to see an active female rider on this thread ( @barkha) Bravo..
As Nithesh said, It'd be wise to wait & see when Honda brings out it's 500R series here in India. Not to mention the 600R too. I personally am not really that fond of the N650R, I think the new N300R is much better ( as per looks ). For the GT650R, I'm not sure what to say on that.
It's a skeptical thought on owning a 600cc bike for commuting. But I do lack the experience of riding one in the traffic so I guess the views might differ.

• This happened today...
I was coming back home after work. Was at speeds around 80kmph, when..... the engine just dies...
YESSS.... DIed.. no vibration.. no movement...
The console was blank... but the tachometer was slowly coming down as the vehicle speed reduced... tried flipping the fuel pump switch.. nothing happened.. no yellow light... Tried turning off the ignition switch.. nothing happened... But after few seconds.. (bike still in motion) the console comes back to life.. the pump and everything.. I push the self start button when in 6th gear... and it starts.. and I move forward....
WAT THE ....!!!. My bike never started other than in neutral or first gear..
This happened later at around 60kmph and 110kmph...

I am so scared.. What do I do.. whats going on with the bike?

The first few batches of CBR had some quality issues but Honda rectified them as and when they could. I own a CBR250 which I bought in Aug 2012, I can vouch its all good apart from the news of master cylinder being replaced. Mate, afterall this is a machine and machines are due to break down. Rather, you should look into the positive in this. Honda realised by themselves that they had faulty parts in a particular batch and so decide to change them free of cost. Even sbks sometimes have faulty patrs, does it mean the bike is not worth buying? People still do buy them. One of my freind recently had an issue with the chain of R15 V2, does that make R15 crap...no...R15 will be still king of corners. Don't you fall sick ever? Its just my view on the topic. People may want differ on it. The decision is yours finally.

2) Even if they are announced i am pretty sure the Repsol edition wont be here because Honda charges a $500 premium for it. And that will make the STD Repsol edition equivalent to C-ABS version as far as price will be concerned.

Seems like a Electrical loose contact , either in connectors, or most probably a Loose Fuse contact, which heats up and develops loose contact, and becomes ok on cooling....this may also lead to the fuse socket burning, and bike becoming dead permanently...
Take it to SVC and get it sorted ASAP.

Thanks Sid... i plan to book Std version with black color...i saw the repsol edition in the picture but didn't like it..i like plain color.. so black is best for me..you are right ABS version is the best model, but my budget is limit..and one more thing is that i don't drive in high speed my speed is max 70 - 80 in highway in city
50 - 60 that's it....will let you know once i book ok. sid ...
