  • @Pravu - I understand, you are totally frustrated with quality that a company like Honda has provided you with. I agree with you. If I am not wrong, you have the bike from the first few batches of CBRs. My point is just beacause your bike is giving issues doesn't means the whole range is not of good quality. There are many owners who have troublefree bike from the first batch. I would term it as bad luck for you to have such a piece. Its understandable that out of the million bikes produced, some of them are faulty. I agree to your point Honda should have taken care of your issues being a customer centric manufacturers. This was one of the reasons I avoided booking CBR from the first batch. It was an experiment in India and was due to have a few glitches. Cool down buddy. As for the vibrations, I guess every faired bike has this issue. My ZMA used to have this issue and now my CBR has it. So chill bro, your faith in the company's quality is worth. Have patience.

I own a CBR250R, upgraded from ZMA. 250 has quite a punch between 5k - 7k RPMs, a boon while handling traffic, fuel average depends on your usage. I get 32-35kmpl with a mixed city-highway use and variable speeds as low as 50kmph and as high as 130kmph, ABS - yes its a good option if you can afford those extra 30k. Recently, I had a fall due to wheel locking in my std at around 30-35kmph. That is where I felt the need for ABS. Whereas 150 is launshed as track bike targetting R15. So it should have the power at higher revs may be over 7000RPMs which will cause some problem in city riding. Obviuosly since the fe is better than 250 owing to lesser power. But then after sometime you will feel the hunger for more power with 150. 250 can easily cruise at 120 - 130 kmph without sweating which I guess wouyld not be possible on 150. So the decision is yours. Go for a test ride and do it atleast for 8 - 10kms using all the rev range. You will surely find the difference and will be easy for you to take a decision.

Heloo sidh.. thanks for the opinion.. yes all my friends says to buy 250R withouth thinking.. of course even my heart goes for 250R.. but sidh i dont want to cruise around 100-130kph.. just enjoy the ride and yes when i get the chance i will test it speed and stability.. this coming sunday im going to tD both 150R and 250R.. at least 6-8kms drive ill get to know these two beast ..

For touring, the 250R is an amazing bike in its class... I have done over 10000 while touring and trust me, enjoyed every single inch I rode... It has got the power to cruise at higher speed and also the comfort at low speeds... the engine and other system supports your every action and yes even after 1.5 yrs of its launch, its still a head turner...
On the other hand 150 is a power packed bike but its torque is a lil low so you wont enjoy that acceleration. Last sunday only some CBR riders met and there was this young boy who bought 150... we tested his bike and he tested a 250R and he was regreting his purchase...

Also if you are interested in touring then please go for ABS... those extra 30K will boost your confidence while riding even in the worst riding conditions... Plus it saves one from most of the incidence... I had an accident at 130KPH where I had to crash into the side railing while saving a moron on the road on expressway... Thanks to the ABS, the bike was stand still without any slide and slips...

Rest I would say a feature added is always handy rather than not having and regretting it some day...

          Sneh
@snehkesari.... thats why im taking test drive both beast...im sure 250R will be better..will let you know after taking test drive this coming sunday...between tell me how to upload my pic in the profile...??

One of the most mature and adult comments on the CBR first batch issues. I too have a first batch model c. May 2011 and it is running perfectly well. I have my opinions as to the reason for so many first batchers giving problems but would confine them to myself as they do not make very palatable reading...

I had pressure washed my bike yesterday, took her on a short 10km ride to let her dry. However, when i tried to start the bike today, the PGM-FI light which normally lights up after the engine switch is set to on position did not come up. I tried to follow the steps in the "Flooded engine" ( opening throttle fully and pressing start for 5 seconds) around a couple of times, but did not start. However, it started the third time i followed the steps. Do i need to worry about anything?
              Thanks
My take? Don't EVER, EVER, EVER pressure wash the bike with WATER It is abso not recommended. Water under pressure has an uncanny ability to get into the most dangerous places and plays merry Hell with electro-mechanics. If you want a pressure wash, go for simple blasts of compressed air. Dried mud in awkward places will also come off and if it does not, you can use a slim brush. But pressurised water? A BIG NO-NO. Not on bikes, cars, trucks, aircraft.... you get the drift.

I agree with you, and I myself don't give my bike or the car for a pressure wash..
But what do you think the VSC does when given for a free service?? They 1st pressure wash, and then overlap with used oil to make the bike shine!!!

                  • This is one question ive been meaning to ask for the last 5 months now but i always forget. Anyway, is ur clutch lever somehow at a position below that of ur left handlebar? My brake lever is almost on the same level with the right handlebar but the clutch seems awkwardly placed. The ASC people tell me its normal. IS it?

                    Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Both leavers are on same level in my bike. Ie a bit below handle.

Yes, that is absolutely normal. I have never seen any CBR (or ZMR as is my case) with both levers placed identically. It has to do with the clutch free play. Nothing to worry about.

Both clutch and front brake lever have to be at the same level of being on level with the Handle bar..this will balance the wrist and hand rest position on both sides which is preferred.

Sir, my bike came in that way from the showroom itself.
Also, I verified the same with a colleague at office, his CBR also has the same setting.

The height of both levers is same, but the clutch lever is farther from the handlebar w.r.t the brake lever.
I have seen this in a couple of ZMAs, ZMRs and a CBR. Shall have to see more keenly now.

I assume the TS was talking about this unequal distance between both levers.

Even I am thinking of changing both, Front and rear tyres... Done 19,700 Kms and now its time to upgrade to better quality tyres as I didn't like Conti Go...
PSD has been suggested by many and even I am thinking of the same but dont know any reliable shop from where I can buy a Genuine piece...

Anyone here with other suggestions/Feedback about PSD?

One more thing, I have ABS model, if I go for a 150/70 will there be a problem related to ABS? read in some forums that the ABS wont work while some say it will be better...

                                Confused...
