I wish I could fortify that with some nice "parliamentary" language. Vishwas, why don't you write about the quality excellence of your N 250? I am sure that the same paradigm would be extrapolated to the N 650...

On the engine valve cover there is a small cover plate with a rubber air hose going into it. Under that is a reed valve then a port plate (the one with all the holes #2 in the parts diagram). The port plate is not supposed to move but mine was loose and rattled very badly at various engine speeds. On the actual photo you can see three location points that are worn from the plate moving around. I removed the plate and the engine rattle was gone. Your mechanic should be able to easily check and repair this."

Hey,.... went to the SVC and showed them where the problem was in my bike and they are not ready to accept it...
And on top of that they say.....

" Sir, it will take additional Rs.3000 as the engine has to be removed from the chassis to remove the overhead cover.
You will be spending Rs. 3000 just to check this?"

      Now what ??????

Oh yea.. the other day... Was in Mangalore, moving from Milagirs church to city center.
Had to take a turn between the dividers, and loads of traffic...
      lol...

Two guys on Dio... they were just standing there, I inched my bike forward, they look and say..

got their scooter infront of mine and raced a head... haha..!

I am not talking about quality excellence here. I am talking about basic quality of a bike which you can expect from a Platina / Passion.

The SVCs guys are being unreasonable . They seem to want to discourage you from getting your bike repaired there.
Try a different SVC and last resort can be mailing Honda Customer care.

I too had to deal with shims issue. Talked to 3 SVCs for this regard and all agreed that the problem exists but quoted a waiting period of around 30 days for which my bike had to left @ the SVC.

finally mailed to HONDA Customer Care and next day got a call from one of the SVCs and they promised to deliver the bike next day .. which again seemed too optimistic. Since had a long trip planned post delivery date , I said I will give feedback post ride.

Later found out that they did not change anything and returned the bike as it is .

Now have the right shims ordered and will be getting them installed with other repairs.

that's quite high price you have there for the tyres... see if you can get dunlop tuffgrip tyres.. almost the same price as contigos but better feedback from folks I've talked with.

                7300 WTF!!!
I have changed my front to PSD for 2700 3 months before and BTW are you sure there PSD 140/70/17 available with your dealer. Even though if its available I won't recommend spending that kind of money on PSD. The other options are:
                1) Dunlop 140/70 - Same configuration as Conti
                2) MRF-Revz-FC/Duke 200 rear tyre - Have tested RanjithMN's bike with the Front - PSD 110/70 and Rear - MRF 150/60. One word its "STICKY" .
                3) I think @aargee has changed to MRF(sorry I don't remember the model) with is also pretty good from his comments .

                • HI trustvishwas. I know they havent sold a lot of bikes but what they has sold is a lot smiles...a lot of satisfied souls..a lot of happy faces..a lot of dreams.....a lot of attitude...a lot of passion...and a hell lot of satisfaction when u park the bike after a long ride.....a lot of everything u want your bike to have..looks..power..handling and above all a V-Twin.
i never owned one myself so cant tell about quality but i em hoping it will be better that CBR250..that's all i want. if the bike brakes down ill get it fixed..as simple as that. its a machine after all...and a complicated one i dont expect it to be like a spender or passion....fill it shut it...where is the fun in that....where's the adventure. ...if u want to buy a perfect bike then i em sorry ...it doesn't exist....ur apple may be sometimes lemon. i don't know what bike you have but i em sure u love it so do i...a machine is meant to be respected...after all ur handing ur life to it....u don't treat it good....it will bite back...so....may be GT650 is not a good bike...but it will bring a smile on my face and that's what i em looking for....as does my CBR250R..everyday..from day 1...."smiles per miles".

it struggles in 5th gear if at 3.5k-4k and knocks below it
if in 6th gear it knocks below 4k.. mine does a 63kmph at 4k precise..

for 5th and 6th i prefer changing gear to 4.5k so when spm falls it comes to 4k due to gear shift...

initial gear changing at 3.5k is just fine and it does not knock at 4k 1-2-3-4 4th gear plus change do it over 4.5k...

if you want to increase the low rpm torque you can do a free DIY.. just remove the filter cover.. the rectangular plate.. keep the filter stock. though
it sound loud more like a FF air filter but i have found a considerable diffrence in torque between 2.5k - 4k rpm range.

havent really noticed any FE change..
cant say the bike goes fast or slow.. can be placebo due to the sound it makes..

but theoritically more air is getting in.. ecu must be throwing in more fuel or i dont know whats its doing
but city ride has become very comfy ..

the best part of removing the cover is that all the vibes that i used to get till 5k have disappeared like 95 %
try it... remove the front seat.. unscrew 2 bolts remove the plate and put the seat back on. if you dont like it
put it back after testing for 2 days...

i got no dyno but the torque is better i can bet for that...

barkha i guess you are taking the suggestions in a wrong way.. everyone is happy of a female CBR rider in the forum and we would be more than happy seeing you munching miles over two wheels. every one is pouring in suggestions so that you make the logical choice. if you want to make choice by heart then a forum is not needed neither anybody's advice. i do not own a 650 neither i have ridden gt650 or a n650 but i never failed to notice that the finesseee on the n650 is better than that of gt650.. above that if you want a city ride please go ahead with the GTR however if you want to do hypermiling or go ahead with the pillion as you stated you and your partner.. the seating of gt650r does not makes sense.

parts for both bikes can be an issue as both are sold in fewer numbers but the reliability of the ninja is a lot more than that of the gt.
again i am not trying to divert your head. i wont bet on either of the bike but between these 2 NINJA makes the logical choice.
if you still like the GT650 go ahead with it and treat it right...

600cc mill is not the end.. its the beginning of new experience...

                            • Hi, theironhorse99 i sorry if i sounded rude but then i was just saying what my heart said. i em sorry .i really happy too ,to be party of the forum... i have seen a N650 and trust me take any girl and show them both the bike Gt will come out winner ..ok by a small margin....green ..and girls dont mix... we are always green with envy ...so it will look like a green girl on a green bike........lol....Yes Gt is not practical for everyday use...yes pillion seat is not comfortable ....you really think my partner will share the seat wid me?.....no way.....my bike is mine......he can get a bike of his own or maybe ill gift him a RE500.....
ok here goes ..ill try to explain....you know Mahindra jeeps...they leak oil....no doors...make a lot of noise.....but take the top off...go to the beach ....i promise it will grab more attention and will give more pleasure and more eberything that some one with twice the cost of the same jeep?.....i dont know if i put it right...N650....hands down has a great quality...ride and handling...but then will it get a smile on my face when i turn the key on?...i dont know.....will a V-twin do it? ...yes sir. my partner wants a N650..says its better choice.....service centre is 50 meter away from our house..i can see it from my window... GT has to be taken to Hyderabad fro every service...what if bike brakes down..what if that ..what if this.. CBR 500 out of question...N650 / Gt650.- its like selecting between Tata safari or Mahindra Thar. u just cant decide.
