On enquiring i got a response that it is the case in all other CBR's. Is that so? Can anyone check and clarify here? Thanks
It is supposed to have some free play I guess. But not to the extent that it it's rolling on its own while riding, if so there is some kind of lock to retain it inside. A good local mechanic must be able to solve this problem mine almost came off once. My mechanic fixed it

Present version is quite good at quality. Any complaints if any is due to bad service and in rare cases only. None I know have complained of cable related issues.

Dear Nithesh how was the front brake tightened? The bar end weight does not rotate freely on my bike it is quite stiff. Since your end weight is loose you would be able to know if there is actually any weight or is it just flimsy plastic for show.

The mechanic said its supposed to rotate freely on the clutch side but not on the brake side.. because you are wringing the throttle and the bar end shouldnt move with it. That was his reason. He said theres a tapering on the clutch side which causes the bar end to rotate. Not sure how much of it is true.

I have no idea. They never let customers in to the working bay area so we are asked to wait outside in the customer lounge. How i wish the ASC would just expand for that seperate CBR Bay :/
But all i know is they do not remove the brake assembly ever. They either adjust with the lever or with the cable because it barely takes them about 5-10 mins the last 2-3 times i handed it over to them

            • Yea.. SO I met with a fellow Xbhpian yesterday.. Nithesh...
I see he has already mentioned it...

well... At the SVC, later in the evening I was said that the rod inside the handle which has internal threads might be damaged. That rod costs around Rs.80.
They also said it happens if the bike has had a fall. Well has any of you had a fall on your CBR's on your left side?

The engine noise still not fixed instead they replaced the cam chain tensioner free of charge and believe me I have noticed no drop in power or mileage (37kmpl). They say it was under warranty.. humph...!
Typical Indian way... You cant find the problem find a scape goat.

Dear Nithesh, the CBR250 has hydraulic (oil) disk brakes, these are self adjusting, they do not get loosened or tightened unless when we apply & release the brake lever, also there is no cable in the front brake. One can only top up oil if required, if the ASC says that they have tightened the front brake they are taking you for a ride.

No i can feel the difference in the braking(as in tight and crisp) compared to the time before handing over the bike and when i said cable i meant bleeding the fluid..
But what happens is about 3-4 days of riding(about 200-300kms) later it goes back to being spongy again.

                  • Nitesh, I have done 21000 Kms and I never had to adjust my brakes... rather ones I asked the guy at Sangam Honda and the technician told me what "Nsengg" is saying...
Most likely work they have done is with the lever which gives you this different feel.

hydraulic brakes cant be adjusted.. however.. what these guys generally do it take the pads out and rub it across a coarse surface and put it back.
that takes off the polished surface and for a few days the bite feels better.

also on the other side where you stated that they dont allow owners to stand and watch the servicing.. trust me. i get to sit along with the bike while it gets serviced and even get to work along with the tech.

I agree but there is no seperate bay for CBR's yet here. The manager says this is because of the lack of space they have no place for expansion. :/ Unfortunately HMSI has asked ASC's to create one at their own expenses. Pretty shoddy if you ask me and we don't get any of the benefits the tier 1 city folks enjoy.

Maybe theres a leak somewhere which causes oil to escape and air to enter giving you the spongy effect or the cylinder must be faulty.
