  • Today i got the call for recall of my CBR 250R, they have just changed the front master cylinder kit and the front brake has become more responsive but the rear brake is as bad as ever.
Never upgrade without getting your basics RIGHT.

Thanx !!!! Yes i do have passion for biking but cant spend so much now as i am saving for a new bike. yes. i will purchase armour and gloves with the new bike and a full face helmet.....the half face helmet forces the wind inwards with the dust and i get automatic mascara(kajal) on my eyes wiht the dust...lol
saw a accident while returning. 3 guys on a Yamaha SZ..no helmet......ghat road.... collided with a truck head-on ..the guy riding didnt survive....a girl tried CPR but in no vain.two other guys were taken to hospital...i am lil scared now.... thinking it would be better if i move to the pillion seat from the rider seat.....
A little bit of fear is good for you. Its natural and it can keep you alert. The important thing to do is to know and understand your limits and skills. And to then start expanding your skills and envelope incrementally bit by bit. The accident you saw should be lesson for you. You need to think about what went wrong over there and draw lessons from it, rather than give up.

I would also suggest a good book on riding; Sport Riding Techniques by Nick Ienatsch. It's a good place to start understanding what is riding and the skills required.

Hang in there and don't give up. Live strong.

      • Got my 250 today. Blood red. Trial run in spurtank road-poonamallee hr-egmore. I keep lugging the bike in traffic, cause I'm afraid I'll accelerate too fast and kiss the vehicle in front. *sigh*. Took it to 5.5k RPM, and max speed was 60 in 4th. No extra sound from the engine, but i suspect my honda has an appetite for coolant. Its touching the lower mark.

Suspension is horrible. Maybe i expected too much, but a medium sized gutter flattens balls-to-tank. Rear brake is worse than engine braking. Bike's mid range will have you holding on for dear life. I love that sound.

I'm a new biker, so take my observations with a pinch of NaCl.

        • It's a new bike ,a lot of the parts have to set in. That includes the rear break pads, and about the suspension, get a more softer setting done, from the svc. Shouldnt be an issue at all, might be a hard setting in your bike from Factory.

          Congrats on the new ride.

          Cheers

            1) Today you keep lugging, tmrw you will complain.
            2) Why do you ride over "gutters"? What happened to the roads?
            3) The coolant is touching the lower mark where? on the console?

Also have a major issue with my bike since over an year now.Somehow cracks develope on my bike's dashboard exactly at the same place (this is my 3rd dashboard now).the 1st was broken by the ASC guys during 1st service.then the 2nd developed cracks..and so did the 3rd.tired of the issue.even spoke with yogesh from HMSI but no attention to the issue from him aswell.

Have given my bike for 4th servicing.Pashankar kothrud ASC manager said that they havent received any notification regarding the issue from honda.few more bikes are facing the same issue.

              Cheers.

              • Hello guys.. This is my first post in this thread. Need some suggestions as I'm considering CBR 250R STD model. I'm from South Delhi, and the on road price is Rs. 163988, they're also offering 3 yrs extended warranty for Rs.1200 and Teflon coating (3 coats in 1 year) for Rs. 800.

Currently, I own P220 DTSi, it been more than 2 year and I'm selling this bike. Because of the maintenance and my style of driving, the avg. mileage I'm able to get is about 45kmpl.

My daily updown is about 60 kms, it includes city and highway as well (Delhi to Gurgaon).

So my question to all of you is
                1. If I'm making the right choice?
                2. How different CBR 250R is as compared to P220 in terms of gear shifting and performance?
                3. I'm confused between tri-color and red, which one is best and easy to maintain in terms of shine and scratches?
                4. Should I go ahead with the purchase now or wait for some time as someone told me that there will be a new color or variant coming in 2013 for CBR250R?
                5. Any other thing I should be aware of or keep in mind while purchasing the bike? (Other than things mentioned in C250R PDI file)
Sorry for all the questions, but I want to make sure that I get the best VFM. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

i did not ride in the ghats. it was car trip.. i do plan to do a ride sometime soon however first need to get rid
of the conti's. just scared to run with them on twisties.

a full face helmet is always needed. first for safety . incase of a fall the front is not protected also keeps me
sane of outside noise and dust and pollution.

fear is always good. it keeps us in limits never get scared to take a turn but be happy being called as a sedate
rider. people who think they are gods on road are on a one way ride.

I'm a new biker, so take my observations with a pinch of NaCl.

first of all DO NOT lug the engine. if you have to go slow in bumper-top bumper traffic kee p in first gear.
the cooling system is darn good however for the first 500 km make sure you dont ride in shorts and traffic.
you'd know what i mean if you try it

you might end up guzzling more fuel for a few days before you get handy with the acceleration but thats
just a small fraction of amount you will spend to keep the engine healthy on a long run.

the suspension is one of the best to be very true. if you find it hard check from svc if it set on 3 or 4
get it back to 5 however mind you keeping it on 5 wil lmake the machine go a lil wavy while taking turn on high
                  speeds.

and whats with the man-hole covers ? a few here and there is ok.

about the brakes.. i run a non-abs however new pads are shiny. it will take sometime for them to set it.
this will happen everytime you change the pads. if you want an urgent solution get them out at svc and scrun them on a hard surface and put them back.. however i do not claim any diffrence on day and night.

conti's are hard compund tyres. they will be slippery too for a few days so keep the right hand in control.

happy riding... have fun with the red wing..

I would recommend you to purchase it now. As anyways you would be spending the same amount of money later on Gears. So why not spend now and be safe sooner .. You can use them with your newer bike as well. Although I understand the sentiment of getting new gears with new bike, I would prioritize safety over sentiments. The final decision always is yours..

I saw a person crossing road and hit by a Truck. So should I stop crossing roads now..!!??
Don't mean to be Rude, but although some fear is good (as rightly pointed by @abhimanyu31 and his complete post), it shouldn't take you away from your passion. Also how do you know the pillion would be safer..!! ( :P :P Don't mean to scare you more.. :P )

Please don't lug it.. as it will do more damage to your engine.
Its always better to go till 4-5 rpm at gear 1 than LUG your bike.

Also you can touch till 120 @gear 6 but make sure you do it slowly and not with sudden acceleration.
Are you warming your engine properly before putting it in any gear..!!??

I topup my coolant only at every service but still its above lower mark.

Anyways.. I personally like suspensions as its best for city rides. Not good for track racing but very good for
                    city rides.

In general, Rear brakes are never very good in any bike.
Try applying both rear and front brakes.

Compared to P220, you may not feel much improvement in terms of power.
But if you consider stability above 100kmph, there is a HUGE HUGE difference.
And if you want to go deep into automobile engineering, P220 doesn't stand anywhere near of CBR250R.
Again, stability ( read in terms of braking at high speeds) of ABS model is much better than STD b'coz of ABS.

                    1. Believe me or not. CBR250R is the best sports commuter in INDIA.
PS: Ninja is not a commuter bike, its a track bike. I am not considering Royal Enfield segment.
                    2. Already answered above.
                    3. I prefer black :P :P.
Regarding Looks, it depends from person to person.
Regarding ease of maintenance and shine and scratches, it doesn't depend on the color, it rather depends on the person and luck (for scratches). Although black is toughest to maintain, but I have seen Red and Tri-color in worse condition.
                    4. 2013 CBRs only have new color schemes. No other differences. You can google the new color schemes. If you like them, and think that its worth the wait. Well you have your answer..
                    5. Consider ABS model once. Its worth every extra penny. ABS has saved my life 4 times till date..

                    • Thanks Jay for answering my questions!!

I was too considering ABS model initially as I thought that my P220 will go for a good price, but it's not upto my expectation and I'm on a tight budget too, so had to go for STD model.

But nevertheless, it's a great bike and I'm very much excited for it. I'll keep on updating about my purchase progress.

Complain? Can you tell me what you mean? Bike NUB here.

Arre, the gutters were in the middle of the road! xD

There's the coolant reservoir near the engine oil reservoir. That reservoir level's touching the lower mark with the bike on side stand.

                              • Hi!, The honda service centre in chinchwad, Pune (Sterling) is refusing to put Motul oil. The owner was also totally rude about it. Is there a good mechanic/ dealer who would put Motul oil for me and change my oil filter in Pune for my CBR 250R. I have a spare filter with me. Need urgent help!
