  • snehkesari ...hi. thanx !!..ya ABS is very important in today's world when every TD&H can buy a bike they want and trash it....hope next year all premium bikes come with ABS followed by every bike sold in Indiaequipped with ABS . BTW...when i went to to get my CBR, the sales rep said this bike has "ANTI BRAKING SYSTEM".....i couldn't stop laughing!!!!so i told him i wont take a bike that doesn't have brakes...lol

ABS would have caused an accident...
It wouldn't lock up.. but it will take longer distance to stop.

I used to lock up when I was new to the bike CBR250R (standard)...
But now it never happens after I replaced my front brake Master Cylinder... using both the brakes effectively all the time.

Oh yea... guys, I changed the air filter yesterday and the difference was instantly noticeable.
The engine revs up much faster. Lost a lot of sluggishness.

      • Hi Guys,
This is my first post on xBhp though I am an avid reader since almost two years and I never thought this would be my first post.
I bought a CBR250R C-ABS three months ago and Im now at ~1100km. Two days ago I went to college and parked the bike and everything was good and when Im back in the evening, the bike doesnt start and pressing the starter has no effect. I f I press the starter while holding the clutch then I can hear an electric buzzing sound and the speedometer is showing random speeds but not starting. And the ABS and engine warning lights are blinking randomly. I tried to start with the pushing method. Though it starts, it turns off in some time. There is absolutely no sign of any tampering or damage and ample petrol. I contacted the service center and they didnt come to the place since two days and so today I brought the bike from the college to my house 10km manually The service center guy promised to come today at 3PM to my house(this is the third day) but he is not here still. Please advice me on what to do. And if there is are any spoilt parts, will they be repaired under warranty or should I pay?

Contact HMSI through their website and they will force your ASC to send someone to your place immediately. Or else try other ASC's. And nothing to pay if the bike is brand new. Is ur kill switch on?
          Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Thanks for your advice He finally came in at 7PM. It was just a battery problem. He brought another battery and asked me to get my battery tomorrow from them. Also I have two more doubts. I by my bad luck got a 2011 make bike in September 2012. Is there anything I should do about it in particular? Also I noticed some oil leaking from the engine. I think it is serious and started from the time the bike was given for first service. Im going to get it check up tomorrow. Any one has any idea what it can be? The oil cap is tight.
And Im based in Visakhapatnam. Are there anyone here from there, who can maybe check if I have the shim issue or any other issue which I can rectify as soon as possible.

                  • Mine is Dec 2011 manufactured too. Mine had some scratches which they said will be re painted in first service but were not as there were no paints. I gave the bike today for painting. And to check the oil leak. I want to know if I can demand a change of fairing if I'm not satisfied with the paint job. And will the demand bear any fruit. Also the paint on my engine is peeling.

For the engine, you can get it replaced. Again HMSI will not contact you directly. They will only inform your ASC with the instructions. ASC will call you up to get the bike in for the work. The oil leak is due to the filter not being fitted properly or because of a blown filter gasket. Ive experienced this post first servicing. Just take it to your ASC asap. About the 2011 bike being Sold, first ask your ASC about the same and if they arent responding send a complaint to HMSI through website. AGAIN this was avoidable if you had done a thorough PDI

Edit: Took me 3 hours to fathom this long blog of a fellow CBR wanderer who goes by the name Milo. (Is he here on this forum?)

                      • Hi,. not dont PDI has landed you geting a lemon...now dont ask wuts a lemon....i was told the same thing about the scratches .they will fix it in 1st service....i declined and asked for new bike...as i didn't sign anything until i was happy wid the bike.i guess the reason ur battery failed is that the bike was stored for 1 year before u got it...u can write to honda but i am not sure u will get anything out of it. but i guess u can try...they used to have a very good CBR trained mechanic called SURI..but he is now gone....so are my hopes of a good service...!!!!!!

                        • Minor scratches etc

I picked up my bike from Rohan Honda in May 2011. It DID NOT have the RVMs. Why? Simply because all bikes in that batch, despite Honda's SCM, came with two right handed RVMS. ??? I spoke to the Manager/Proprietor and explained to him the urgency of the RVMs as I was to ride up to Rajkot in the next couple of days and without the RVMs, I just could not ride. He must have pulled out one LHS RVM off some bike 'cause in a day or two, the bike was ready.

Yes, it was not blemish-free. There was a small scar on the engine cover and one small scratch on the exhaust shield. But I did not protest as my mother would add her own small, visible scratch on the bike as a sort of anti-evil device. When I took the bike home, my mother pointed out the scar and scratch and told me that she would add one more of her own and with that , this bike would never let me down. Call it faith or superstition but she has done this to every single vehicle I have owned and not one of them has let me down...

But I had a different point to make. It is virtually impossible to ensure that the bike stays absolutely blemish-free when she comes from the factory to the showroom - the route is long, tortuous and has multiple points of contact. We must remember that we ourselves as humans have our deviations from physical perfection by way of scars and scratches, either inherited or acquired in Life. And this is just a bike... If the imperfection is not serious, just the odd small scratch etc, we could be more accommodating. Yes, serious issues would warrant a blunt refusal to take delivery but the odd little stuff is excusable?

My bike had its first incident while at zero kph. She was parked next to a tree stump and some animal, burrowing near the roots, loosened up the soil near the side stand. When I got back from lunch, I was mortified to see her on her LH side. "Gawd, WTF, holy s***t, MC, BC", many curses and oaths followed. I picked her up to find no damage Only, the gear shift lever had been bent inwards, there were a few scratches on the LH RVM and the rear fork bearing cover was pulled off. Otherwise, nothing at all. She had landed on soft soil so was saved. The gearbox was sticking into 3rd and I had another "oh f**k" moment for the whole day - if the change mechanism was damaged, the damage to my wallet would also be substantial.. But thank God, there was no damage; I removed the bend and the gears changed as sweetly as earlier. Hoooshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

                          • I'm gonna book a black CBR250 sometime next week, and have been unable to locate a copy of the owner's manual online, from google or from this thread. I want to read the manual before buying the bike, as only if i read something 10 times will it get stuck in my head. Can some kind soul please give me a link, or alternately, can a chennai cbr250 owner please give me a xerox copy of his/hers? I stay near Nungambakkam, and will travel anywhere within city limits to get it.

                              • @ icemang: i beg to differ, humans have imperfections, that is why humans invented machines so that things can be done perfectly. imagine you doing 2+2 on a calculator and out of 100 times, 2 or 3 times it shows 3 0r 1 instead of 4, will it be usefull..??

imagine i am going to buy a merc or a bentley or a roll royce, would it be ok for me to accept it even if there are few scratches here and there...the answer is NO. the question is not of --how many times your calculator shows wrong answer or that merc and CBR is different. the question is machines are here to do ...what we humans can't.

when i went to purchase CBR, i asked this question to manager-- will i get to choose my bike...he said, no. fortunately when i purchased my P150, i got to choose it from 100's of pulsars parked there, at the time of booking and then only it was sent for registration.

your bike is supposed to be manufactured perfectly and delivered to you in scratch-less condition. if they can't even transport or store it properly, what is the guarantee that they can manufacture it to perfection, coz manufacturing is more difficult process than transporting and storing.

power of dreams with few scratches.
