  • Re: Honda CBR 250R

Bhailog, I have a small question.

When we downshift, the flow is :

    1. Pull the clutch in
    2. Downshift
    3. Blip the throttle before leaving the clutch.

What I want to know is, can that flow be changed to

    1. Pull the clutch in
    2. Blip the throttle
    3. And then downshift

Today I tried the latter method and the downshifts were nice when compared to the former.

Now, which one of them is the correct approach or both the methods are cool. Please also highlight any sorts of damage to clutch and gearbox. Both the methods take equal number of seconds, so which one is better.

Sorry for being OT, instead of raising a new thread I thought it would be good if I ask my noobish question here.

    Cheers,
    Sanjay

    • Black CBR Parked in the garage - Finally!

In 2013 May, I chose the TBTS 500 over the CBR. Not a bad selection, and I enjoyed every moment of owning her. Exactly 36 month later, tired of the niggles and quality issues (re-issues), I let go of her and tonight she has been replaced with a Black & Silver CBR.

I am yet to name her. She is pre-owned (cannot sat pre worshiped) but is a good enough condition to bring her back to glory. The sevice mechanic identified the standard Shim and Valve setting, which is OK at 19K KKMs, Brake Pads and a seal down there (small thing he says) and Pre Tensioner. Rest all will ne cosmetic changes like the Handle Bar weights, Tank sticker for the knee guards and such. Ah yes, I got the rear view mirrors installed before even bringing her home. (1042 with tax and some nuts).

I plan to ride her for a few days and give her for a thorough servicing on Saturday.

I cannot thank you all enough for the huge amount of information and insight made available here. Am glued to the thread!

There is no use blipping the throttle after the gear is engaged it is not the correct method to do at all. The second method is the right one, pull in the clutch, blip just the right amount and engage the gear, this way the gear engages smoothly as opposed to the signature "THUD". The second method also helps control throttle feel when you shift gears with right amount of throttle blip, the same goes for up shift too, but usually not required.

Stick to the second method, that's how it should be done.

        Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Have already done 36k kms on my CBR 250R C-ABS and the stock chain sprockets are to be changed.
            Need some advice-
            1. Any performance chain sprockets available as direct fit to the CBR 250R??
            2. Where to get the Galfer brake pads??

Take care that the exhaust heat shield doesn't get scratched. It tends to scratch easily from where did u get the bike? Which dealership?
Even i'm looking forward to buy a paddock stand, i got a quote from GA engineering guys based in mumbai for 2600 including shipping. If you find one in Bangalore or if you are ready to get it fabricated i will join you. Keep me updated

yes i remember Sanjay you have the same colour

I picked up from Haiku in Domlur.

Man yeahhh.....the heat shield picks up scratches easily. I guess you were looking at picking up a paddock stand yourself.

So ttoday marks the 3 year of my baby CBR and the insurance will take its last breath today. So should I go for zero dep insurance or a comprehensive one.

PS : the third year has begun and not ended.

                      Cheers,

Comprehensive includes zero dep, but just check with your insurance firm for the duration of years they offer zero dep, if they go beyond the 2 and three year mark fine. If not, stick to comprehensive.

                        Cheers!

I paid 1714 for my 3rd year insurance. It wasn't zero dep. I didn't care to replace a few slightly broken plastics. I'm happy I have all my indicators after 3 years in chennai.
