Guys I Need A Serious Help Here.

Reached Mumbai On 29th From Madurai.

Traffic In Mumbai Is Seriously Worsen Day By Day The Whole Western Express Highway From Bandra To Oberoi Mall Malad Was Choked Up Was Constantly In First Gear. The Longest Langdi Of My Life. Engine Radiator Fan Was Kicking In Crazy. All The While Stuck In The Traffic The Only Thing Going In My Head Was I Need To Change To Engine Ice Coolant.

So I Did Come Across A Supplier. That To In Malad. Now Who Will Change It Do I Have To Do It Myself. I Called Across Kandivali Om Sai SVC Both The Technicians Are On Leave. I Met A Road Side Mechanic. He Stated "Sir Flush Vash Choodo Aapka Coolant Nikal Ke Naya Daldeta Hu Sir Fadu Kaam Kar Dunga" So Surely I Ain't Going To Go With That Guy.

Give Me A Reliable Person Who Would Be Reasonable As Well Or Guide Me Through. How To Do It Your Self. Mean Opening The Farings Removing The Reservoir Tank.

There is really no need to change the coolant. Has the temperature gauge gone beyond three bars? If not, then you have nothing to worry about. Honda's premixed coolant does the job just fine. I tested my bike in chennai summer heat for half an hour, first and second gear only, with RPMs going up to 10,000. Didn't see a fourth bar.

How much did the front radial cost you?
It costed around 4K.
Can you pls provide link or page no. of the discussion I'm not able to find it.

Guru Kumar. It's completely fine with your fan kicking on quite often in such a traffic. You can change the coolant by yourself if you want.

Tools you required. Allen key set, 8 mm socket wrench, and a screwdriver.Click image for larger version

Unscrew the radiator cap screw. Open the cap by pushing it little bit down.Click image for larger version

Now loosen the coolant drain bolt. Let it out slowly. Make sure your engine is cooled down to avoid any burn.Click image for larger version

Detach the reservoir tube attached near radiator cap. Remove it slowly off the clips and let it down to the ground so that the reservoir fluid can be flushed out.Click image for larger version

Now use clean water/distilled water to flush the radiator by pouring into it and starting the engine. Pull throttle mildly. Repeat the same for twice or thrice. Once cleaned, tight the coolant drain bolt at its place. Make sure you don't apply much torque on it. Don't overtightened it. Attach reservoir tube to radiator top. Secure it by circlip. Pour the coolant of your choice into radiator. Fill it up to brim. Start the engine and slowly rev it. The coolant level will go down. Fill it again. Rev it...fill it....so on. Once the level i stagnant, put the cap and secure it by that small screw. Now fill the coolant reservoir up to upper mark. Put the cap on and secure it by that plastic cover. Put the fairing back on place. You are ready to go.

Make sure you use ethylene glycol one. Non-ethylene glycol coolants are not recommended. I do use castrol coolant - one part coolant and two part distilled water.Click image for larger version

HI All,
I learned a lesson little expensive way DO NOT MIX RADIAL AND BIAS PLY TIRES.
Few days back I was complaining about my handle being stiffer after changing the front tyre to Michelin Radials.
The issue is that front radial tyre was UnderSteering but rear BiasPly was OverSteering, what that means is that front tyre was trying take sharp turn while as rear tyre was taking long turn.
I was not happy the bike was feeling got down asked my buddy to ride and told him to take a turn and that's where I observed if you see trucks when they take turns the back tyre seems to little weird same thing happened but in a small way.
I changed the front to normal tyre now it feels normal again.

P.S. Yes I have spare Michelin Pilot Sport Radial For front if anybody is planning to Change in Chennai you can PM me.

Regards,
Mohan

Wat is bias ply? In one of the tyre shops the guy was suggesting me to go for nylon tyres, but doesn't nylon wear n puncture easier? He was also like mrf don't manufacture 140/70-17 tyres, went to another shop and got them. My advice is, if your on a budget go for mrf radials, if u have Money to spend go for Michelin radials.

Guys I have a query on the headlight setup for the CBR? I was thinking of changing to HID xenon but then obviously power consumption will increase also the next time I am changing batteries ,looking for a alternative , more powerful ,efficient one if I am gonna change my headlights.

Did you really read his post? Your reply is no where relevant to the post you have quoted. And you can't just ask any question just because it is a forum. You have something called Google to answer your basic questions.

Sorry if I'm rude, didn't know how to put it across to you.

I went to a local mechanic to change the rear brake pad to p220 ones. However the mechanic said we would have to remove the wheel for rear brake pad change, and he was quite reluctant to do work on it.

Is there any truth to what he said, or can we change the rear brake pads only removing the caliper pin and the hair clip like pin?
