Thanks for the reply. Only on the fingers. Need to look into a pair of street gloves now.

May be they put on some clear coat or something on your apache.

Btw i think a pair of gloves should be the second most important on the list of essential riding gear. Obviously helmet being the first one. I have seen people with badly bruised palms after even a minor fall because of human instincts of trying to control the fall using our hands.

ashwinprakas, in fact you're absolutely right, but it's not the stalk pivot that vibrates, it's the mirror pivot to stalk pivot area that vibrates (the ring where the mirror fits with the stem just so you undertstand). As I iterated earlier, it isn't a PITA, but, I suggest not to add any more spacers, if you'll look closely, you already have thick enough washers spacers, one on top and one underneath the hex screw, adding extra washers/spacers would reduce the overall thread insert length, which would mean a lousy even more vibrating stalk.

Even my 220's used to vibrate, time spent with the hex solved it.

Appreciate the inputs.

Cheers!

Hello Riders. I am Ishan Pandya. Got TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS in 2014 but selling it now after running it for 18,000 kms in 9 months to get myself CBR 250R. Though I have ridden one CBR 250R of a friend for 700 kms in 2 days on all kind of road, after reading your posts, I believe I will not be disappointed with the bike. aargee: when you are coming to pune again. Have heard lot many things of you from Vishawas Sir (Vishwas Mokashi, Pune). I am getting a good deal of a used CBR 2012 model, 6500 kms run, scratchless and well maintained in 1 Lakh. Will update you all once I get hold of that CBR.

• Cbr250r ticking noise and harshness

Hii everyone.
This is my first post here.
I own a cbr250r 2011. From a long time i have been facing ticking noise issue with bike... To me it seems like its something related to timing chain or shim issue.
Last year my bike also underwent shim job but to make the situation worse. I doubt that they really did the shim job or just fooled me.
Now it has become very harsh with lot of vibrations
Went to another sc, they replaced cam chain tensioner twice. But still not much of a difference.. Problem returned after few kms of riding.

Last month i again complained to hmsi customer care. They directed me to go to sc.
After doing some checkup i was suggested shim job again.
But the real problem started the very next day when i went for suggested shim job.. Their mechanic refused to do it and said its faulty clutch outer and primary gear which was not in stock at that time and advised me to wait for another 15 days.
I am really confused what is wrong with my bike or either its the sc who is trying to skin me.
{sorry for being so long}
I am very much disappointed by their after sales management

I need your help guys and I would be grateful to you for your suggestions and opinions

I had similar issue but it was the Chain tensioner. Once it was replaced the noise went of also bike felt little bit smoother.
It could be many things.
1. may be carbon deposits
2. may be some issue is sprockets
3. may be wheel alignment issue.
I would say have a good friendly chat with SVC I'm sure they will help you.

First of all, relax!!!. There is nothing on this earth that cannot be fixed.

Now the tick tick noise issue, did you check this noise in the morning after you have kept the bike off for lets say 6-8 hours. Everybody is aware of the fact that once the engine is heated up the metal expands and a bit of roughness will be there.

I am sure every cbr owner will have this tick tick noise after the engine has heated up a fair bit.

When was the last time the oil was changed ?

Did you abuse the bike badly especially during run-in/engine breakin period ?

Where do you stay. So that fellow owners can suggest a decent SVC.

Cheers,
Sanjay

My cbr used to have this ticking noise and i always thought it was the shim. But once the svc guy changed one part ( idk whats its called, timing chain or somethng like that i guess ) anyway that ticking noise reduced alot, now its comes rarely like i hear it once or twice in a months time.

But again my ticking noise was always with the cold start, once the engine reached it optimal temperature no ticking could be heard.

( that part is above the clutch cover )

What you are talking about is the cam chain tensioner costing around 480 bucks.

Usually It is the other way around because when the bike is astarted for the first time in morning there won't be any noise and once it has heated up the growl becomes a bit viby, but no performance loss.

Ticking noise or any other noise in early morning start is a sure shot sign. Something is wrong with the shims

Cheers,

Yeah it could be cam chain tensioner as it costed me 500 bucks

But i no more get that ticking sound from cold starts, just couple times when the engine is cold and i accelerate to overtake that is the only time i hear that ticking noise. Whereas before changing Cam Chain Tensioner, just turning on the bike and keeping it idle for few mins the ticking noise used to come up and once the temperature bar reaches 3 point the ticking goes away after a couple mins.

And i would strongly suggest to know more about these things before going to svc.
As once i went to svc and told him about the problem he said to me that my head block is fu**ed and need to be replaced but as i told him my bike has extended warranty he suddenly asked me for a test ride and came back with saying yeah its probably the shims
