  • Hello Everyone !

Keep up the good work! Been following this thread ever since its inception ( well silently as a guest of course ).It was extremly useful in finalizing my decision in getting a CBR250R knowing Both the PRO's and CON's of the bike

And since I finally got myself a tri-color ABS CBR250R last week and an xBHP account, so i thought i'd say HI to you all

    Happy Riding !!

Hey there mate ! congrats ! I got mine last week as well . I had the same problem on the first day , just shift to second once your above 20 kmph or so , Or modulate the clutch and the throttle and shifting at 3000 to 4000 rpm . This should fix your knocking problem

Do NOT lug your engine.. follow these RPM's when up-shifting
      1st, 2nd & 3rd - 4.5k RPM
      4th, 5th - 5k RPM
      6th - about 5.5~6k RPM

      • My Jezebel

Hello fellow CBR250R owners. My Jezebel has completed some 1750km on ODO since about 2 months from her delivery.

I would like to know what care has to be taken for rainy season to avoid rust/damage of console/handlebar switches/other electronic/metallic components ? I have got the front mudflap installed as seen in the pic below (courtesy chicmagnet)

What else would you guys recommend ?

        • Welcome to the Forum A_D.

I did the same thing when my purchase plans were firming up. It's great to go into it with one's eyes wide open no? Helped keep all my surprises pleasant thanks to some great feedback available in this thread.

            • Good Work guys!

I have been following this post for quite sometime. After reading your first hand experience i decided to buy a CBR 250R . Bought it in HRC (was looking for black initially but it was not available anywhere) couple of days ago and have been riding it since then (200 kms already). Im sticking to the engine run in procedure as mentioned by fellow members. Took my baby ceebeer on the highway twice but could only touch 110kmph due to traffic. Eager to get her first service done so that i can enjoy it more.

Do you remove front wheel for this job ? Is it done in SVC ?

                  • My first heartbreak

Things can go bad, Shit happens were the few words that I remember when I saw my bike fall from standstill today afternoon. HAd gone to a restaurant for lunch and was about to pay the bill, when I saw 5-6 guys in the name of taking their bike outside from parking were meddling with the bike sitting on it pushing it.

Got irritated, din say a word pushed my bike and parked it on roadside near platform, paid bill and came back to see my babe had fallen on the platform. I was like, i don know how to say it, was praying one side, wondering one side and was damn upset. Because first look it was like the fairing was lying on the cement platform (used for pedestrian walking). i have read other owners dropping bike in Standstill but and read 'No damage'

But heart failed to believe, because the fall was very awkward and the rear wheel was in air. Went lifted the bike and saw no damage. Could not believe my eyes..

Closer inspection showed the Left RVM has taken the hit somehow and prevented even a single scratch . The point is the mirror hit the platform and the mirror and the mirror holder both got turned ninety degrees and the bike was supported on the platform by the RVM bolt and bolt holder. All scratches there , washed it with water now barely visible. ll do some touchups, any help from fellow members here?

On riding a few kms found the windscreen has bent and is no more symmetrical tried getting it back into its previous position no use. Any help here will be useful. Not visible to untrained eyes but keeps pricking me badly

Last, how the incident happened? I had parked it on the edge of the road, the heat here is unbearable and the thar road (believe me It looked rock solid on the outside) had become spongy and the sidestand has digged deep into the road, thar looked molten man

Saying so, I felt something was wrong wen I parked itself and nudged the bike it rocked and settled in a position, that's why left. Shit, still breathing deep thinking of it, pissed off with me

But hats off to Honda, great design

Last I was giving a close look to the bike on the way back to office, and I notice a tick tick sound from the rear portion of the bike (think from silencer) after switching the engine off. Is it normal? I remember someone in R15 thread posting this and members said it was normal. Posting it here for my peace of mind. If normal, what is it? (I drove the bike for 15 odd kms)

Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight.

It was not that far on the map.

Though I have never thought of the source of the sound, but it's there in my bike though. Probably common in liquid cooled bikes.

PS : Owners, the CBR has been ridden a lot and has already faced the rains. What kind of polish/wax did you guys use? Specifically for the fairing and other fibre parts?
Besides any pointers and info on anti rust spray(other than the WD40 thing) for the metal parts here in Mumbai?
Metal maniac had posted about his experience with turtle wax and argee had extolled the virtues of collinite. But what in general would be recommended for painted fibre and metal parts?

Acc. to my knowledge, the tick tick sound is the metal contracting back to its original size as it heats up and expands a bit. Its common in all the bikes <-- this is what I have read on the internet.
Good to hear that there was no damage. I guess this is the quality that honda speaks about. People talk about the not so fine quality of the CBR when compared to yamaha is because of the finishing of the paint or surface which is not top notch but definitely good in built quality

Do you know that plates inside the cat con makes these noise & it's not just with your HONDA bike but any 4 stroke bike having cat con (Including mine, Bajaj P220 DTSFi)

Yes, I already mentioned its common in 'ALL' the bikes (or all bikes having cat con as you said). My old 2003 pulsar also made that noise.

For frequent bumps, just stay on the lower gear just to be on the safe side, don't lug the engine during run-in (never do that for that matter).
If you suddenly encounter a bump which you hadn't noticed before, quickly shift 1 gear lower (or hold the clutch & brake 1st but before you let go off the clutch, slot into suitable gear first)
And yes, shifts should ideally be quick so that you don't drop too many revs.
Owners please correct me if I'm wrong anywhere.

BTW, I don't own a CBR250R but I've ridden it & planning to buy it after I get a job.

Slow down and downshift to a lower gear for big bumps buddy . Yes it's a bit annoying to do , but it will ensure your bike's well being

As for the clutch , You can release it quickly while Shifting up, in pretty much all gears except the 1st gear ( Obviously )

Sorry to hear about the fall bro . And relax buddy , mishaps happen , don't be too hard on yourself .

The tick tick sound is normal , pretty much all petrol engines make it , even cars .

As for the scratches , most scratches will disappear with rubbing and polishing ( provided they are not very deep ) . you can do it yourself , but i'd recommend having it done by a professional or even your service centre , yes it would cost more but the results would speak for themselves
