  • finally after 20 days odd of purchasing clocked 1048 km and got the bike serviced.

    expectation :

    engine will be rev happy.
    will be smoother.
issue with t-cone will be resolved.
clutch will become better for it had a lot of play inspite of adjustments.

    outcome :

no longer feels like the cbr i bought more like flintstone's car.
    running on stone wheels.
vibrations were only in 3k-4k rpm and now honda is giving it
    all the way from 1.5k - 10k
chain makes noise like its rubbing over something at every churn.
bike feels in depression as if i am slapping her and asking to run.
t-cone stil has the same play.

dont know what they used to wash the bike but the muffle cover (silver part of silencer ) has got these patches similar what we see on old paints where the clear coat goes off.

not sure where to start from. DIY is the way to go. honda made it ASC makes it sure we switch to another bike soon.

with all the goodies that i got in this service (oops ...!! free service) costed 1260 bucks.

i went like a happy chappy to get the bike so i go zoom ..
one half of my head was laughing on the other.

oh i forgot , feels like they use RIN , surf or something to wash the bike i guess after drying it up i realized she was looking way better unwashed but polished when i brought her for the service. while i left it had all these marks.. needs and extensive polish job again..maybe after i go home today..

the service guys were very nice and respected me well . i would have been more happy if they would have treated me bad but have treated her right.

    • Welcome to the CBR ASC Grievance club. Mine was serviced on 5th and I just brought the vehicle home from the ASC and parked it, so I do not know in what way they have messed it up. But yesterday when I spoke to Theironhorse I realized that they have not changed the oil filter of my bike along with the oil which according to the manual they should. I asked the main mechanic over the phone for which he replied "Koi baath nahi hai saab, doosre service me kardenge" Now please someone tell me whether it is alright to keep the same filter? If it is not I shall get it replaced immediately as the vehicle has run just 3km from ASC to my place, though the oil needs to be drained again and all! What should I do Aargee? Psr sirjee, advice please!

Sorry to see another CBR owner taken for a ride by the ASC mechs. First of all check if the engine oil along with filter is changed, secondly check the chain tightness..If you place your finger in the center part of chain and lift it up, it should travel 8~10 mm. From what you say the chain seems to be very tight....if the play is not there take it back to ASC and get it set properly...

NO it is not right to have old filter with new engine oil....Whether it is a car, or two wheeler, or generator, when ever the engine oil is changed the filter MUST be changed along with it. The filter does the job of filtering out the suspended impurities from the oil and slowly gets clogged, REDUCING the oil flow and pressure. So it is important that with new oil , a new Filter should be in place.Get it changed ASAP.

I agree about the chain slack. this was the same issue when i got the bike delivered. i got it fixed after spending some time with service guys. they said its fine. when i got the bike on paddock and they showed it how heavy the wheel is running. told them the same while giving the bike for service
            but again same issue.

also the manual suggests check the chain slack while on side stand.
how in the world the chain slack be checked while on side stand. the chain slack should be checked while on paddock for that is like bike standing upright.

will get it checked today. highly doubt they will be of any help.
will buy a paddock and do it myself.

I just went to the ASC and handed over the vehicle. When I spoke to the owner he told me that as they did not have the stock of oil filters they decided to change the filter next time I told him and the mechanic that whenever in future they are changing the oil of my vehicle they must change the filter too and if they do not have stock then hold the servicing and do it only when the required part becomes available. When I asked the mechanic whether he has checked/adjusted the valves he said "mai check nahi kia saab"! I don't want to sound condescending but may be we have the will/skill/resource to RIDE these vehicles but are lacking the skill/infrastructure/dealer network to MAINTAIN them
Thanks once again psr ji and Theironhorse!

Rather, Mumbai Owners are good with adaptability
Its same everywhere except a few good SVC's and that too may be with a few good customers. Even in mumbai, there are SVC who loot Rs.350 for chain lube and some who fix a shim issue to deliver a bike with broken rocker arm. No use complaining or cribbing.

                  • hey guys...6 months back i took a TR and never looked back, came home everytime grinning ear to ear.

Second service done last week and ever since having trouble with the handle.
Well...how do I put it....everytime I want to turn(especially at low speeds 0-30) I feel like the handle is pushing back at me, it refuses to turn....like some invisible demon is choking the bike's throat.

I'm wondering why the mechanics haven't noted it after the service, because they do take it for a spin once the service is done I believe.

I had the same problem. That too after the second service. Get the coneset checked and probably replaced because it might be rusted or faulty. The mechanic might try to do some temporary fix but insist on opening the handle and check the coneset. If faulty(which is probably is) ask them to get it replaced under warranty. A good rapport with the manager in the ASC will help

                        • Hey guys,

After some long ninja ways of browsing Xbhp. I thought its time to review about my bike and also break the ice

After some South Indian type of movie climax, I have decided to buy CBR250R abs and booked it. After some ''Bike will arrive tomorrow'' dialogue from showroom people, My bike was delivered on 25th of may and of-course its tricolor.

The bike is noisy when compared to stereotype honda engines I heard that which of-course made me feel happy

The three most toughest things about owning a bike can be put out in ascending order like this
                          3. Cleaning bike's chain
                          2. Waiting for the bike
                          1. Maintaining Run-in period

I ensured that I maintained around 4k rpm at every single gear and the speed as at 65kmph which I used to happily live with my pulsar 150 before

A week back, I went for a small spin to a 150 km trip to anathagiri hills and it just proved me tat bike could run for long time without radiator kicking out any grudge(heat) it has on me

After some here and there ride to office, going out to malls, getting milk packets it clocked 840 kms and I gave it for servicing today, Overall I am very satisfied with my bike till now and the pics will justify whatever relationship I am having with my bike

People do have their own set of illusions and live according to them..!!!

                              • 1. Day before yesterday
I was on faridabad gurgaon highway riding my CBR at 70km/hr
I opened the throttle a bit and boy it miss fired like a carb bike
it was 3 times in a row, it was like spark plug just died or fuel supply was slashed. Have ridden bike around 100 km after that but didn't noticed it again.

Any one of you encountered this problem.

                                2. Bike fairing gives rattling sound past 7k rpm upto 4th gear, have tightened at the bolts, noise comes from consol.

                                3. These is another noise from consol, it feels like some screw has loosen up, i told SVC guys about it but they could not resolve it.

                                Bike has clocked 3200 km

First service done at 800km (mineral oil + oil filter)
Second service(paid) at 2800 km (FS oil + oil filter), got this service done just because I wanted to switch to FS.
