It was found that many of the bikes were having defective shims from the starting itself . So needed to be replaced .Originally posted by Greymatter View PostWhy stuffs like 'Shims' & 'Brake Pads (STD) of CBR250R needs to be replaced so early?
But for brake pads it depends on how often you use your brakes .
Note: If shims are not defective from starting then regular check of shims after say 30k+ kms would be good
And for brake's please refer to Aargee's FAQ's it will help you in ways like which type of fluid to use , which brake pad are good etc etc..I respect the threat.

hi does cbr lose power when shifted to third gear from second before 5k rpm.? please check and tell. try to shift all gears at 5k rpm(i tried full/half throttle both). i tried and i found only 3rd and 6th are having low pickup compared to 1,2,4,5 gears. i recently bought my cbr it has 1433kms odo and 1month old. this is my observation. if something is wrong tell me.

From technical perspective regarding shims am not the right person to answer your query, but on the usage front I have changed the shims at 7K(actually the problem started around 6K, didn't knew it was shims), my bike was from the initial lot so didn't have much idea about many things as of now, or in other words there was no @Aargee's FAQ's for the help(even he was a beginner at that timeOriginally posted by Greymatter View PostWhy stuffs like 'Shims' & 'Brake Pads (STD) of CBR250R needs to be replaced so early?
) and the real comedy was even some of the mechanics don't know what shims is at that time(not kidding its true)
.
My bike has clocked 25K till date and after the 7K shims change I didn't noticed a single sign of shim probs till date(touchwood). One thing I got to understand was after riding 25K and from many international and other forums, you need to wait for at least 30sec(some period) for the engine to warm up. In the initial period's I used to ride the bike like start and go kinda stuff and rev from the very start
. May be that's one cause for the shims less life...
Regarding the brake pads life... its still an unknown thing for me. These are the intervals I have changed my pads(7K, 10.5K). First I got 7K life, then 3.5K and now its around 15K and still going good
.

when you change gear from 2nd to 3rd u will get more power more pickup on higher rpm.
6th gear is topdrive gear but you will never feel that its not picking up or pickup is low after shifting to 6th gear.
get it checked.Hero Honda Karizma: 2008 - SOLD

now the issue here is there are lot of shrill continous vibration in the during city ride... 2k -5k rpm... that is taking the fun out of riding in city.
odo is around 4k
issue i have noticed is half of these vibes are coming from the transmission front sprocket-- chain-- rear sprocket..
i have got the chain slack checked , cleaned and lubed. .also checked the free play of both the wheels but somehow while going at around 30 kmph if i get into neutral and turn the engine off.. there are lot of vibration that i cant feel in the handle bars.. also if i touch the bar end weight i can actually feel the friction or maybe like bike is running on metal wheels than that or rubber. SVC is unable to rectify this.. any help on this will be appreciated.

Ideally these are the ill effects of upsizing. But Speedo doesnt go kaput its just shows a small error. Anyway in this case the profile is lower which makes the overall dimension not so big.
Anyway I away right now and will need to check up on mileage and speeds.
i did not mean effects by upsizing the width of the tyre.. i meant by 140/70 vs 150/60 ... the the tyre height is lesser than that of the conti's which will end up in speedo error.. you will be on lesser speeds than that on the speedo. that also makes lesser mileage , lesser distance travelled than indicated and lesser top end.. what the width of the tyre does is all together a diffrent story..
to over come the effect of lesser tyre height and make it even you can try adding a teeth to the front sprocket.. though thats just a whacky thought.. i wont say it will balance the effect of less tyre height but it should..
keep us posted with the new rubber..

frame sliders / chassis protector / crash bobbins
Hey guys,
I've been searching for frame sliders for my blade and finally had some luck. One person says he can get the frame sliders from thailand. Things to note:
1. It is a no cut frame slider. i.e. no fairing alteration is required.
2. It is similar to yoshimaru frame sliders. And fits similarly (note similar not same)

3. Its on order basis.
4. Price 5300 rs.
5. Delivery approx 7-10 days from date of order.
He says he can reduce price depending on the number of persons.
I'll be placing order this coming monday.i.e. 27th aug
Let me know if
1. Interested to get one too
2. Queries
3. Any other detailsLast edited by Jay Tanwar; 08-22-2012, 10:11 PM.

Please HELP !!
I am just back from a 3 day tour to Aurangabad to visit Ellora Caves and Daulatabad Fort on my Jezebel (CBR250R-TRI-2012). The ride was smooth and speedy as I wished it to be.
Today while going to office I experienced a strange sound from my gearbox whenever I used to decelerate with clutch pressed. It was like mixer grinder metallica sound
Guys has anyone of you faced it ?? Its been 5 months and around 6k on ODO since I took her delivery !

my bike when 20 days old was dropped by a kid in the parking... changing the whole left side fairing along with 7 other parts itself cost around 3k odd.. spending 5k ish on frame sliders does not make sense..
had it been a ninja.. it would have been a good buy.."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Have changed fairings twice till date just because they had scratches (not broken) from fall...costed 2K till date. IMHO, it starts paying off ONLY after 5 falls. Just spoke what I feltOriginally posted by Jay Tanwar View Post4. Price 5300 rs
Happened all the time or just once or just for one ride?Originally posted by Rony View PostToday while going to office I experienced a strange sound from my gearbox whenever I used to decelerate with clutch pressed. It was like mixer grinder metallica sound
