Well the service advisor has decided that they will open the head once they receive roller bearings. He told that it may be a case of bad shims or camshaft bearings, so now those bearings not being in stock my Ceeber is getting some rest. Likely to receive in another 4-5 days.

    Shall update soon.

Well as far as the service goes, I have done all the services at Globus Honda, New Delhi. Purchased the bike from there as well. Here are a few points I would want to highlight-

      Positives

      1) Mine was of the first batch and one the very few early ones in Delhi, and a first from Globus. Since there were quality issues with the earlier batches, my gear spindle, the tappet rocker arm & the cone-set needed replacement in the first 3 months itself. These were promptly accepted by Honda, and the parts were sent to the SVC. They took the issue on priority and promptly replaced the faulty parts. I didn't pay a cent.

      2) Being their first CBR250 owner, I never had to wait, regardless of the time and day I went. I was given 'special privileges' and once their CBR expert (At that time each SVC had two people who had received training from Honda) was free from his impending tasks, the CBR was the first he looked at.

      3) The folks were pretty courteous, in fact the service manager, offered his cabin for me to wait, each time. The fellow listened and addressed every issue I had.

      4) A Honda service engineer, who overlooks quality of service in NCR, paid a visit to the SVC once the gear spindle was replaced (This was the first week) and personally supervised the job. Well, it was understandable, since the bike was in its infant stages and Honda were paying a great deal of attention on the quality issues. He gave me his number in case I faced any issue, and I am in touch with him till date.

      5) I was not charged for the shims, on two occasions. Once 4, and once 2 shims needed replacement. The only money I have ever paid on service, is for engine oil & other consumables (brake pads/oil filter)

      Negatives

      1) The first batch of 250R's were FULL of damn quality issues! In the first 6 months I have paid no less than 6 visits to the SVC. Although, not financially but I have been pained mentally. It was like Honda was performing 'real time' tests on me and many like me.

      2) The SVC needs more separate bays for servicing premium bikes and the normal bikes and scooters. This was not there.

      3) Since the bike was new in those days, whenever I entered, the bike used to grab a lot of attention. I had to stand near the bike in caution and prevent any Tom, Dick and Harry coming around and trying to experiment.

      4) The SVC folks needed to be told, each time, not the spray directly at the fins as it endangered bending them!

Overall, I am satisfied with the vehicle now. With the passage of time and running, it has matured. The niggles have gone down considerably (Touch wood). And one more thing that I have noticed is that although the earlier batch vehicles had a distinct engine sound (The ones these days are quite silent), I found those vehicles to be quicker off the block. I might be wrong here, but this is an observation after riding 2 recent ones, in comparison to my bike.

Thanks I hope the ASC does everything under warranty; otherwise, don't hesitate to kill them.

BTW, pls...can you pen down few words about your ASC on their service levels, technical skills & most importantly your experience with them? We're pooling all these at one place.

kurtrules - BRILLIANT & COMPREHENSIVE review there; fabulous. Tks

You are absolutely right, I did the same for my other bike, took a damaged front fender from the SVC and cut the bottom portion, however for the CBR there was no damaged fender availabe, not sure though I think the front fender costs Rs.750

            • Even after fixing the fairing rattle ,when I rode over the potholes i hear a thud sound . Is it due to cone set? I enquired about this in ASC ,they told that coneset needs replacement but does not come under warranty and costs 1500. My bike just covered 5.6k kms (7 months).

                My contribution:

                Shiva Wheels Honda, Kolkata

Bought my motorcycle from their dealership. So, went for first service there. And also had the repairs after the crash at the same place.

                Positives

-The service manager is helpful and, well, that's about it.
-The CBR bay is pretty close to the customer waiting area, so you can keep an eye on what's being done.

                Negatives

-No dedicated CBR technician as of now as the one they had has apparently left them.
-They hardly stock parts. Took about 4 odd months to get me a left fairing, front mudguard and the radiator. Falsely billed me for couple of parts like the clipons. I'm still awaiting small parts like the number plate holder and a footpeg.
-Charges 200 for a chain clean and lube.

Verdict - 1/5 (You'd do much better giving it a miss)

                Dugar Honda, Kolkata

The nearest ASC from my home. Opened less than a year ago. Mostly courteous staff at the dealership.

                Positives

-Infrastructure wise, being the newest, is arguably the best ASC in Kolkata.
-The CBR technician, though not a very experienced one, is still pretty good at whate'er needs to be done at regular services and ironing out minor niggles (fairing rattles and the likes).
-You can see your motorcycle being serviced and can talk to the technician if the need be.

                Negatives

-Still don't have the necessary expertise to check things like valve clearance.

                Verdict - 2.5/5

                Todi Honda, Kolkata

The oldest HMSI ASC in this area. Went with a brake issue and had no choice as parts were not available anywhere else.

                Positives

-Apparently, the main CBR technician is a very competent fellow, who has experience on even bigger bikes.
-They have ready stock of almost all regular spares that one may need.

                Negatives

-Although the main CBR guy is good, he is not the one who'll be working on your steed. It cascades down to the junior technicians according to the work that needs to be done.
-One cannot even see when one's vehicle is serviced, let alone getting to talk to the technician. But, this I reckon, depends on the rapport you have with this ASC.

                Verdict - 2.5/5

They also charge Rs.200/- for house call as visiting charge before looking/diagnose anything , no matter customer provide transportation or not.

Thanks for the input. How is your bike doing? Do share your ownership experience in general, and the experience with your ASC in particular as well.

                      Hi RG,
I second on everything that DS has said about Kolkata SVCs.
Though I don't have any first hand experience with Shiva Wheels, I have been there couple of times.

I bought my CBR at Todi Honda, and my experience there with the bike delivery was very good and service was decent. I have a good rapport with the GM of Todi Honda and so I was allowed to enter into service area while my bike servicing is done.
One more negative I want to add to the list of Todi Honda is
--> they give the bike back after service in the most dirtiest possible state. They don't clean your bike properly. So I mostly avoid doing water service at SVC thus also avoiding the risk of bending radiator fins.

After I shifted to Bangalore, I did servicing only once at Sapphire Honda, JP Nagar and I was very much satisfied with the work that was done. Binoy and Sudeep has given more details about the same.

I have also heard good comments on Haiku Honda and its technician.
Everybody dies.. But, not everybody really live!!

I must extend my fender too. Its next to impossible to keep d bike clean in rainy season while I ride in muddy roads :/ ones online cost way too much. Around 3500k. Thinking of an effective aesthetic soloution. :/ don't want to make it look ugly.
