I know this is an older post, but i wanted to know if this is the scenario in Chennai (and any other places? ). Because here in Hyderabad I have been buying spares (which includes Engine Oil, Airfilters, drive belt, spark plug, cone set, wheel bearings and even a tireOriginally posted by aargee View Post
Ji...you know what? HMSI stopped counter spares sales several years ago Lol!!! That includes engine oil for Activa to spares for CBR1000RR
for which i had to send an email to hmsi since they made me run around for a week, the email ensured my tire was there in 24hrs - i dont know if it dropped from heaven) for my Dio. I never had my dio serviced at the asc after 3 services when they screwed up stuff and i had to shoot an email to hmsi...crappy experience. Ever since then i have had it serviced at a local mech for the past 4yrs. Only once was i refused spares at a service center & i called up the showroom manager and spoke to him (i could have 'spoken'
but he was polite unlike the previous persons i ve delt with at the asc).. and i was able to buy them & i still am

1. We're talking about CBR 250R, not Dio or ActivaOriginally posted by s1d View PostI know this is an older post, but i wanted...i was able to buy them & i still am
2. As we speak, it is the manager at ASC's discretion to sell the spares over the counter
3. HMSI does not oblige selling the spares over the sales counter
That said, JSP Honda in Chennai hasn't denied for any of my genuine requirements for additional spares till date.
If you can help our fellow xBhpians, since you seem to get a free hand in Hyderabad (not mentioned at which ASC) getting the genuine spares, with few CBR 250R spares, it would be of great help

saar kalaila why this kolaveri , just mentioned it cos you had written activaOriginally posted by aargee View Post1. We're talking about CBR 250R, not Dio or Activa

i was able to buy them directly, only once in between i had to contact a manager
my brother in chennai was able to get them in chennai aswell at the tnagar svc
i dint know that hmsi officially doesn't oblige
and i do not have a free hand
just lucky at the mercy of hmsi. i do not know if emailing will help in the case of a cbr looking at your situation a few months ago were you had to wait a long time for the sprockets etc..
i think if they have sufficient spares in stock they would sell it.. but looks like they do not, for various reasons..
OT: and definitely getting parts for the rx100 is easier. i plan to make a move similar to you.. from 2storke to 4joke
a ktm duke200 soon.. closest ive experienced to a 2stroke!

No, that was my sincere request if you can help out our guys with CBR 250R apart from most common parts, no kolaveri or anything.Originally posted by s1d View Postsaar kalaila why this kolaveri...but looks like they do not, for various reasons..
Like you said, if HMSI has spares in abundant, they're going to give to customers. This practice was stopped in the past because, road side mechanics started buying out in bulk as they could start servicing the Honda vehicles are much cheaper rate. But then HMSI STOPPED supplying spares in abundant & they started shipping based on orders placed by dealers. I don't think one can get spared for CBR anywhere outside than ASC, even now.
But yes, things have improved a lot since last 6-8 months now, most of the common spares are available & are sold additionally on available basis.
That said, I myself couldn't find a chain slider at Pilot Honda about 2 weeks ago.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Couple of days before I had a chance to test the grip of both Cont & PSD(my front tyre is PSD and rear Conti-GetLost
). Unlike Pirelli Conti stopped by drawing an 'S' shape on a wet road when some bugger crossed the road as I slammed both front & rear brakes. The bad Pirelli don't know how to draw 'S' shape, it just stopped when the brakes are applied, no dramas... Pirelli needs to improve their technology a lot... LOLzzz...:P
BTW Wish you a Happy Onam friends

I hate the Continentals and after a few falls in Ladakh, a few power slides in the wetOriginally posted by Binoy View PostCouple of days before I had a chance to test the grip of both Cont & PSD(my front tyre is PSD and rear Conti-GetLost

, i am scared of them in any gravel/wet road kind of situation. Have ruled out touring with wifey till i get better tyres. I have 3.7k on the odo(wont increase much till i change the tyres) and am looking for tyre change. Which is the grippiest/knobbiest tyre i can get for rain/gravel - you could say i am looking for the Michelin Sirac of CBR250R ?

Absolutely true bro this tyre is making me scary on almost all surfaces. It was ok on dry tarmac. After many slides now even a slight pinch of sand or gravel on the roadside makes me slow down which I pay unwanted attention to too much details. The riding style has been effected from thatOriginally posted by Mik View PostI hate the Continentals and after a few falls in Ladakh, a few power slides in the wet

. After changing the front to PSD it has hell lot of difference. Its not like the sayings "When most people say a product is good I also just follow them". From my experience I am getting much more confidence inspiring feedback from the front while the rear is like a timber piece floating on a water(especially in wet conditions and in corners also). I replaced the Conti(front) at around 24K and one won't believe it has done 24K. It has lot of rubber left, only the sides has very lil chopped off.
Have done 1K with the PSD and I can tell you don't expect a long life for the PSD(Max 8-10K which I think). But am more than happy to spend for another tyre which gives me more confidence
. Is Michelin Sirac available in 140/17/17??? Unfortunately the rear PSD tyre(140/17/17) is not available in the market now

Well haven't noticed d need for better tires as I am not a hardcore biker , never do i speed into a corner , also may be because i dont completely rely on brakes for stopping, i downshift to reduce speeds. I am into touring at average speeds. In fact happy with d hard compound Tyre as it has proved worthy of Indian roads especially in villages with stony roads. It doesn't get punctured so easily, there are many half completed stony roads here .. when my the roads here improve will think of better tires
it's just my thought though

You're not alone here Samarth; I share the same sentiments; only at emergency situations, I feel the tires COULD HAVE been slightly better, that's all.Originally posted by samarth14feb View PostWell haven't noticed...just my thought though

The issue was finally solved yesterday night thanks to Honda Shield Roadside Assistance who sent a mechanic to my residence at midnight. The bike was not starting due to wire cut thanks to a rat whose adventure cost me dear. The tank and supporting fairing had to be removed to locate the cut and repair it. Finally at 2am the bike started and I went to bed relieved !Originally posted by Rony View PostToday morning was not pleasant for me as my CBR250R refused to start despite attempting for 20 odd minutes. Finally got late for office and decided to take my car instead.
I did a quick check and found the battery to be working as my headlight, horn and all other electrical are working fine. To my surprise even the Fi light is working as it should ie turning ON as soon as I flip the Engine Kill switch and turning OFF after 2 seconds. The petrol is half filled. I tried dragging it for some distance and starting it again but it just doesnt start. The starter is making the right noise as it should but what I found missing was the usual sound which comes as soon as the engine kill switch is flipped ie when the Fi light glows.
Any idea what could have went wrong ?

Need Help!!!!
Guys I am planning to buy a CBR 250r C-ABS version. I am a bit confused
regarding the functioning of C-ABS. I know that if we press the rear brake hard the ABS will engage the front brake as well. But what if we press the front brake alone. Will the ABS avoid the front wheel to get locked and will it also engage the rear brake.
Please share your valuable inputs...
Regards
Dev

Its been discussed before, anyway....
In C-ABS brake if you apply rear brake then the system applies corresponding amount of front break also and AND function is available on both wheels I.e. your wheels won't lock up leading to loss of traction. But if you apply only front break then only front break gets activated and ABS function is still available.
Mind you only front break gets activated..NO rear break.Once a Biker ....Always a BIKER
