Today morning was not pleasant for me as my CBR250R refused to start despite attempting for 20 odd minutes. Finally got late for office and decided to take my car instead.

I did a quick check and found the battery to be working as my headlight, horn and all other electrical are working fine. To my surprise even the Fi light is working as it should ie turning ON as soon as I flip the Engine Kill switch and turning OFF after 2 seconds. The petrol is half filled. I tried dragging it for some distance and starting it again but it just doesnt start. The starter is making the right noise as it should but what I found missing was the usual sound which comes as soon as the engine kill switch is flipped ie when the Fi light glows.

Any idea what could have went wrong ?

The noise you are missing is of the fuel pump.

Did you try the method mentioned in the owner's manual, where you need to crank for 15 seconds & then switch OFF/ON (not sure about the exact sequence, but it should be found under the bike fall recovery procedure)

I intend to do the same, but I feel the "rubber flap" solution might be better as it is flexible

I had a rubber flap before this but it use to rub against the left & right middle cowl when the front dives low, also there was added noise, however it is much easier to put up a rubber flap. My current installation would last the bikes life, whereas a rubber flap would last for just about a year.

Nope I did not try any such thing. I will go home and check it out !

As far as rubber flap discussion goes, I am attaching pic of my jugaad (in association with chicmagnet) for front fender problem.

                    • This is not a typical dealer feedback but also a ownership experience over a period of 1yr and 8200km.
I had bought my Ceeber from Pressana Honda, Coimbatore on 10Aug2011, done all my servicings also from them.
Its just over a year and it has been mixed bag of experience for me both with the bike well as my dealer, though both tilt more towards positive side.
                      Pressana Honda, Coimbatore.

                      Buying Experience....

                      1. An absolute motorhead I was denied the pleasure of biking for over 8 yrs after my marriage as wifey was not comfy on a bike as also the place I was posted to was One of the coldest in India, so had to part with my CBZ in 2004, after I bought my car. But having come to civilization in Coimbatore the biking bug didn't take time to bite me hard and I was in the market in July 2011 looking for a decently powerful bike suited for touring and within my budget. Luckily around that time Honda launched CBR 250R and it fit my requirement to a T. And yes favourable reviews all over the Web and from other countries helped me decide fast. But soon came the dampener as I came to know of the waiting period of anything between 2 to 3 months, I wanted the bike fast as I was to leave coimbatore for about 3 months from end September 2011. Pressana Honda was the last dealer in the city I called up , on phone though the sales guy didn't say YES, but he sounded positive for an early delivery, so next day I was in the dealership for a test ride. Mr.Sridhar, the sales guy was quite positive and had fairly good knowledge of the bike. After initial chit chat we went for a longish test ride. Throughout the ride the poor guy was hanging for life and trying to give me tid-bit about the bike , while I was putting her through the paces. We came back after about 40 min and I was convinced that I was buying the machine. Then came the time for Delivery discussion, but a meeting with the owner of the showroom sealed the deal as I was promised delivery within a month. So booked the bike and came back.

                      2. I didn't have to wait long as on 12th day itself got a call from Sridhar about my Black ABS model reaching them. Next day I paid the balance amount and delivery was fixed on 10th August 2011. On 10th I reached the dealership at 3pm after office, and there she was all dressed up and ready to go. However took her back to the ramp and did my own PDI as per my list. In the meanwhile the mechanic gave certain dos and donts which I hardly heard And off I was with in no time. She was a beauty, not a typical butter smooth Honda but she has a powerful rorty exhaust note to my liking.

                      3. Over all buying experience I will put as positive only as right from my first phone call to the dealer till delivery the complete staff of the dealership were courteous. The sales guy knew the basics of the bike. The CBR trained mechanic also was ok, I was having difficulty communicating with him as I don't know Tamil, and the poor guy could speak in only Tamil, so the sales guy used to be my translator, but then mech seemed to know his job fairly well.

I will give a 8 point out of 10 for buying experience.

                      4. 1st SERVICE.....My black beauty was up for her first service exactly after 12 days of purchase, which I again got done from the same dealer. First service was uneventful except that I had to buy the oil filter from another dealer as my dealer didn't have it unstick.( Early days spare scare ) The mechanic did everything except valve clearance check as as per him bike was ok and as such they didn't have any shim available so I too didn't insist. Bike was smooth from before. But during this service I learned a good lesson by letting them wash my bike. Buggers damaged my radiator find, for which had a nice fight, then the supervisor himself spend good 1 he straightening the fins to satisfactory level. After that day I have never let the SVC wash my bike. Over all I will give a 6.5 out of 10 for this service, would have been a 8 without damage to my radiator as I had warned them before the wash....:banghead:

                      5. INTERLUDE......The bike was running fine and in the mean while I had completed a 4000 km ride to Orissa n back within 15 days. She was flawless throughout. I had clocked 5800 when I took her for 2nd service. Bike was running fine except steering hard and some rattling from the right fairing and fairing alignment issue. The SVC rectified the steering issue but the CBR trained guy couldn't understand the alignment problem, for him it was like
" Aisa thoda kam jyada toh hota hai" ( of course in Tamil) so I didn't bang my head and spent one Sunday afternoon to get both the fairing alignment and rattling thing ok and they have not re-surfaced till now.

                      6. 2nd SERVICE.......She had clocked 5800 km when I went for my 2nd service. Bike was running fine except that it had become a little rough after my 4K-15 day ride home and back. The servicing done as per the check list but again same story for the shims and valve clearance check. Shims were still not available so I too didn't insist on opening the head, as such there was no problem or sound or drop in performance of the bike.
This device I would rate as 7 out of 10.

                      7. Mean while I had couple of Coimbatore-Bangalore ride. She behaved absolutely like a dream and ABS saving my life a few times thus justifying the extra investment of 30k , And I had clocked 8k plus km in about a year. In all this time only maintenance being regular chain cleaning n lubing.. I have also changed my head lamp bulb to OSRAM NIGHT BREAKERS and it makes a world of difference to the already great illumination. At about 7.5k I noticed a peculiar sound coming from the engine head area ( at times) but disregarded the same as there was no other problem or change in performance. Though I had a feeling it may be the shims.....

                      8. 3rd SERVICE.......I took her for third service at 8.1 k on the odo. Tell the mechanic and the supervisor about the sound and leave the bike to be collected the next day. Next day when I go bike is ready. I ask the mechanic about what all he has done , he tells me the jobs carried out....oil change, filter change, chain clean etc etc but misses the valve clearance and what he did for the sound. On probing he tells the valve clearance has been checked and it is ok, I suspect as the area around the head seems untouched. I lost my cool and called for the supervisor and make him hear the sound and he agreed there is some odd noise. But he felt it may be shims or may be the camshaft roller bearing at fault. Which obviously they didn't have in stock. A order is placed for the same and I am still waiting for the same for the head to be opened and checked.

                      9. This is the only time the SVC tried to play smart with me, especially the mechanic, which at the end leaves a bad taste in the complete experience. Though the mechanic I would say is good in his work and has good experience. May be he didn't want to do some extra work.....fault at supervisory level I would say.....

                      10. OVERALL......... It has been a positive experience I would still say as unlike many other dealers guys here accept problems and listen to you, and the service head updates the order status regularly. They are likely to receive the part on this Saturday and next Monday she will go through the operation. In the mean time had been on few short hard rides on NH-47 and I have a feeling it is shims only.( refer my previous post) but got to wait and see what finally comes out.

Will I recommend the dealer to someone else ?, yes I will.

Shall update again post the surgery, till then

                      HAPPY BIKING GUYS....

                      • I was promised my problem would be solved, but isn't.. some metal sound from engine related to one of these - shims, cam chain or tensioner. Head mechanic said cam tensioner needs adjustment but a day was wasted at service centre. I did insist him to check the shims but he is over confident its not d prob shims!! Servicing sucks :/

Let them identify the root of the issue & if it is still the shim, then you can say that; let us not be overconfident that we're xBhpians

Find a good, smooth, traffic free (something like Kishengarh to Jaipur) & do a T.W.O for sometime. After few minutes, say about 15 or so, bring down the speeds to your regular riding speeds. The engine should be fine.

After parking & taking it out for next time, accelerate gradually (take about 5-10 minutes) to bring back even to your regular riding speeds.

You should notice the engine much better

Be adviced, you should be doing this at your discretion

                              • Finally got my Tricolor ABS

                                Hi All,

I have finally got my Tricolor ABS yesterday after a long wait of over a month.

Bought it from Rajindra Honda (in Babarpur, Delhi) - oveall a good buying experience as the staff was quite courteous. Also bought the seat cover (original Honda) from there itself - almost Rs. 300, but fits quite nicely and has no ugly design or writing on it...

The bike is running well (although I have done only a small ride of 30kms till now). A few questions:
                                1. There is a vibration noise coming from console - goes away when I press it. Any idea if it is something that needs minor tightening? I heard that some members had to change the console under warranty to get rid of such vibrations...
                                2. How is the rear brake strength in your bike (mine is ABS) - I feel its a bit too week - needs a strong push... My classic CBZ seems to respond better and stronger
                                3. Has anyone lowered the gear-shift lever - I feel its a bit too high (maybe I just need to get reaccoustomed to this as I have been riding classic CBZ since 9 years)... Any feedback on this?

And thanks everyone for all the wonderful information that has been flowing on this thread.. And yes, I have gone through the FAQ pages many times over in past month
