Also, Paul, I appreciate your advice and can really feel what you mean but washing is a relatively easy job - does not require too much material. However, checking valve clearance will probably require many more tools, and some experience and also some good space around where I can work - none of which is easy to have... So, I will probably get it done from ASC itself but in-front of me and hope that the mechanic there is competent...

Any feedback on a good ASC/mechanic in NCR region will be highly appreciated...

And do you think it is better to get the first few services done from the ASC of the dealer where I bought the bike from - do they attend to the bike better than some other ASC would?
@thebiker, yes the side cowls, the tank & the cylinder head need to be removed. Specifically ask for the tappet settings to be done only if you hear the noise. The tappet setting in my bike was required after 6K on the ODO, I got it done at 6.5K on the ODO and yes as Paul suggested spare your time when you need to get it done, here in mumbai they did have the feeler gauge but lacked in other skills like proper use and calculations. The entire process took about 90 minutes. I would strongly recomend you to get the free services done from the ASC of the dealer from where you bought the bike but they would not be attending to your bike better than some other ASC. Develop a good relationship at the ASC is really helpfull in most cases.

Am even more confused now - some members are suggesting to get the valve clearance checked at first service while some are saying to get it done only if required..
The bike would have run just 550 kms by 1st service and as such I am not facing any major issue apart from increased vibration after 6500 rpm (and that may as well be normal roughness in engine before first service) so am not sure whether I should insist on valve clearance check or not ...
Also, it is to be done on a cold engine - so how do the ASCs manage that? Or do they just do it on a not so cold engine.. ?
I really wish there was a good competent ASC here in delhi/ncr but the user feedback has not revealed anything like that as yet...

I would really recommend you not to get the valve clearence inspected if there is no strange engine sound. Btw are you still planning to visit rajindra honda. I will be visiting them tomorrow.

            Thanks for the advice ..

I will be visiting rajindra honda but i can't visit on weekday - will be going on Saturday or sunday. Let me know if you plan to be there over the weekend...
It would help if you can tell me the name of the CBR mechanic there. Also, do we need to book a day in advance for servicing and what's a good time to reach there in morning?

                    • Actually i got my disc pads replaced and they charged 1700/- for it. I searched online and found out that they charged for the wrong part. After a small discussion they refunded the remaining amount and also apologized. They charged just 678/- later. This time they didnt charge any labour for both front and rear disc pad replacement.

                      • guys, there is this problem in my cbr..
when i turn on the kill switch, the engine dosnt show any response.. i mean, no check up sound , the engine malfunction light also dosnt come up for few seconds as it normally does..
only after i switch the engine kill switch on and off for 3-4 times, the engine malfunction light comes up (for few seconds as it normally does) and the check up sound comes and i can start the bike..

but previously , there was no such problem... since yesterday, every time i switch off the engine using kill switch, i have to make 3-4 attempts to make the engine start... is there a problem in my kill switch , could it be a wiring problem ??

il take it to the service center tomorrow.. but still want to know what can the problem be

Even i faced this similar issue. In my case it was due to bike parked in rain for some time.

                          • Hi All, I need suggestions/views of the existing long time owners. Followed the thread till the point Aargee's engine went RIP and lost interest in the machine.
However, I couldn't take it off my mind and I am still inclined to get this baby. I own a P150 and now looking for an upgrade to start what I always wanted to do - Touring. Having heard of the alien/scary words like Shim/Tappet (I know these are components of the engine, but never dived deep to understand it)

My question is, how easy it is to maintain the Baby CBR? What are the servicing costs and what are the things I need to keep in mind/know beforehand? I am expecting a mileage of 25-30KMPL for a touring speed of 90-110 and since it is for touring purposes only (not thinking of using it everyday as of now, need to check how much I will be spending over the fuel and maintenance).
                            Regards,
                            Akash Yadav

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.

Happened with me too. My bike was parked in the rain for few days. Lights were not coming on. Rode it for sometime and everything went back to normal.

Current condition of bike 4500km/1year old
After reading last 4-5 posts i cannot stop to express my views . I am having exact same issues + some new kind mentioned below -

-When bike is in rain or washed i don,t know what gets corroded and when i turn ignition on no response is there from fuel pump (may be some wiring contacts in kill switch had gone wrong , Toggling kill switch few times sound comes (may be faulty kill switch) ) (kill switch then set to DIRECT)(Start up got fine but again issue persists when it not ignited again , then removed the GRAY connector on engine CYLINDER , When removed Radiator fan gets on , When reinserted it goes off , Next ignition is set to on , Fuel pump sound comes , Self pressed at last bike starts )(Also checked all the battery wired cleaned all connectors )(What more an normal person do)

-Horns and its relay act weird after washing of bike (may be the horn switch does not contact properly)(Relay Cleaned with sand paper and horns sound good)(but after last wash again no sound , Button pressed regularly while in speed sound come out in small packets like not getting full current )(Next step will change relay).

                                - Bike luges (often problem with this bike )(i remove all the fuse battery wires reinsert them , Problem temporarily rests)

                                - Tail light , indicators fail to indicate ( checked fuse its fine but when the indicator are already on and key is set to on and off again and again the one of indicator just blinks once then nothing happens , all indicator bulbs are OK)

-I get tired and pissed keep bike aside Drive my Civic.

Please we should all raise a complaint against Honda , even ASC are not able to rectify this they just give me bike in a start condition but issues still persists
it feels that i did a big mistake buying Cbr250r initially in Jalandhar (Punjab) . Every one must wait for few reviews when new products comes in market
