From whatever knowledge I have gathered after being member here, you must increase fuel inflow too proportionately, else the engine will be running lean & thus will heat up quickly.Originally posted by sambitmishra4one View Post

Had a funny problem recently with my 17month old CBR 250..
I was riding in a relaxed manner on an open road at about 60kmph in 5th gear and the motor suddenly died. Just like that! I pulled the clutch, while still coasting, turned the ignition off and then on again in an attempt to re start the bike but there was no whining sound of the fuel pump. The self start did not fire. Stopped the bike and checked the horn, lights, etc... but the entire electrical circuit seemed 'dead'! There seemed to be no way to start the bike. Shifted it into neutral and pulled out the key and called up a friend. Asked him to come over with a tow rope! Inserted the key once again and turned it and woah...this time the bike comes to life. Can hear the fuel pump spinning. The RPM meter does the auto diagnostics and the neutral light turns on. Check the headlights and' indicators, and everything seems to work perfectly. I slowly thump the starter and the engine fires up instantly like nothing had ever happened!
Its been more than a week and the bikes working perfectly... should I be worried and take it for a checkup?
What could have been the problem??

Actually, one could avoid the slider issue by a quick daily check to ensure that it is seated properly on the swing arm. This assumes special importance after sustained riding on bad(read bumpy, potholed) roads where the silder could be jerked out of its seating.Originally posted by rajpandey10 View PostGood to know that you got some solution, can you please share with us/me. Is there something precautionary can be done to anticipate/fix this problem that it shall not occur with other CBR owners. Actaully i am a new CBR owner so i am actually curious to know these things to avoid any severe circumstances.
Yesterday i noticed that some(5-6) of the threads of my clutch cable has been broken, then i went to honda showroom to get it fixed, to my surprise the service center guy told me that he is not having CBR Clutch cable and suggested me to inquire another service center... I was really surprise to see that they dont have a Clutch cable. Then i inquired couple more ASC and they also didn't have it. As it was getting late last night so i thought to inquire in morning to the rest of ASC to check my luck. I am not sure how much i can drive with partial broken cable, however the mechanic told me i can easily pass 2-3 days with normal driving.
I don't think there is anything special about the CBR clutch cable; it is a normal clutch cable like any other. So, if some other bike's cable fits the CBR, you might like to get it installed rather than suffer a cable failure at the worst possibel time (as usually such things happen). Just a thought...

Thanks for the tip, today i inquiring couple more ASC in Delhi via phone, one of them confirmed that they has the cable, i'll try to get it from Delhi or try to see the possiblilty if any other fits into it. As today being Tuesday most of the ASC were closed in Gurgaon.
Can you please tell me, there are little scratches in the silencer cover and looks bad on the Silver color. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this .

It is high time for you to change clutch cable and stock a extra one if you ride in highways for safe keeping......Originally posted by rajpandey10 View Post

Anyhow got hold CBR Chain Slider 122/- (Part No :- 52170KYJ900) and CBR Clutch Cable 160/- (Part No:- 22870KYJ900).....here in kolkata these too not available easily. It depends the type of the dealership....how major they are.
Installed the slider and keep the clutch cable for emergency....my factory installed clutch-cable is ok as the visible parts, but yesterday when I touch I found it flimsy....I checked it after the incident only as I panicked.
The solution portion is below......I'm quoting the actual line what I suggested from very knowledgeable person; This is his practical experience (faced twice actually)Originally posted by rajpandey10 View PostGood to know that you got some solution, can you please share with us/me. The CBR mech from SVC who came to my house he also said, the bike can be drivable in very low speed....he suggested to tight the chain from the roadside mech (after slider rip-off) so it reduce the friction with swingarm body which I strongly doubt.A little dirty trick, (works on highways) if you can listen to the chain hitting the swing arm, you can find that at certain speeds, the chain doesn't touch the swing arm at one particular speed; just maintain that speed as much as possible to cause less scratches to swing arm. If you can get hold of a aluminium blended duct tape, just wind around the swing arm & you can keep riding forever, ofcourse with mild sound, but doesn't harm the swing arm anyway.
Installing a chain slider is very easy job, as I saw today there are some kind of groove holes in the swing arm and teeth of the slider going to sit there something like this.
here the actual suggestion as I'm quoting,
The plastic portion can be open any road side mech shop if the user don't have the proper tool and with the help of the user this can be guided and fix in no-time.....what we need a new extra spare, if we love to ride in deserted highway/weekend ride.it's very easy to fix (you can do it yourself if you can get the spare); just remove the plastic cover above the gear lever using 10mm socket drive & ratchet; fix one end of slider to the welded projection that you can see & slide it through the swing arm from above & below & fix the other end to the same welded projection; close the cover; job done under 10 minutes.Last edited by Neel08; 10-16-2012, 09:59 PM.

theoritically, it should be able to increase power if amount of fuel going in is also increased, and if CBR has a closed loop system, it should be able to do that.one way of increasing the amount of air going in to engine is by using performance air-filters like K & N, other method is a RAM AIR INTAKE SYSTEM.Originally posted by sambitmishra4one View Posthey friends, one serious question,,,,,what will happen if i somehow increase the airflow speed inside the engine ?what will happen if i somehow increase the amount of air going inside the engine ?please reply for the performance part, engine behavior, engine life etc etcwaiting response

Planning to turn my indicators into DRL. (there will be another bulb housed in the indicator, perhaps white led). White will be always on. This will blink alternately with the stock amber colored bulb when i turn on indicators.
Does anyone know if this is in anyway against to any traffic law?..sigpic

Looks like a nice idea. But putting the four indicators to always ON position will be like the hazard light in cars rite. One is not supposed to drive a car with those lights ON unless its urgent(sorry not much idea about this), There's a good change for the cops to catch you with this settings. I would suggest you to do this same modification to the park lights in the bike which is better like in the new Apache RTROriginally posted by xxbomb View PostPlanning to turn my indicators into DRL. Hello Guys, Finally after much thinking i have bought my dream bike on Tuesday(16-Oct-12) CBR 250R(STD) Tricolor from Ganpati motors(Gaurgaon) and driven it for almost 50km till now. Its a treat to drive this bike good pickup and nice grip on road. Can Any one suggest me the good ASC available in West Delhi where i can get my bike's first service done. I will post some pictures of the same by Saturday as my net connection is not working right now.Last edited by ashish33us; 10-17-2012, 06:10 PM.

So that does exhibit the bad quality of Cbr unlike that of P220. I mentioned the same earlier, no bikes are problem free but wen most of the owners have similar complains cropping up, that doesnt sound good. I'm neither a honda fan. I never was, i am not, but i like the cbr and moreover i find no other bikes that i could switch to. RE is great but i'm not interested in them. I am left with lil or no options in my reach. So Cbr is my main option & i have read all the posts in the forum.
PS. If i may, Why are you changing to another brand? Are you not happy with your ride?
Neel08, Thank you very much..
Chinmayakar,Yes, i agree all the recent launches do suffer from problems. And i am upgrading from P200, not P220.
I too am an P200 owner and would suggest you to hold on for a little more time. 2013 CBR is just around the corner and is said to have better quality parts than current lot of CBRs. U will also get much wider color choice.
P200 is quite good and u can sure wait for some more time.. cant you

Dont want to mess around with parking lights. I came up with that idea after considering many of other options. Hazard lights would be amber colored yes?...the plan i have is to stick white light ~6000K as DRL inside indicator. In the video, the indicator blinks and the white light is always on. I intend them to blink alternately when turn signal is turned on. Thoughts?
EDIT: The mod if only for front turn signal.Last edited by xxbomb; 10-17-2012, 09:03 PM.sigpic

As my thoughts here, it may look cool and sure for head turner, but I really doubt how this serve as DRL (Daytime Running Light) as to warn other vehicles from the opposite side in bright sunlight .Originally posted by xxbomb View PostThoughts?
The only true DRL equipped bike here the mighty Ninja which got 1 of H/L on all the time and it really spot the vehicles immediately from opp direction in any bright day.
Like I found in the Car segment only Audi's LED strip truly work as a DRL and the Car was spot on, no matter how bright the day was.
If you get that kind LED illumination / power then it serve it's purpose in your CBR.
Sorry my intention is not discourage you and offend you,

Thanks for your view. For this very reason, i'm getting ultra high intensity leds(eagle eye leds) from HK. With about 200lumens of intensity, it would be around 4times more brighter as stock indicator light/parking light.Originally posted by Neel08 View PostAs my thoughts here, it may look cool and sure for head turner, but I really doubt how this serve as DRL (Daytime Running Light) as to warn other vehicles from the opposite side in bright sunlight .

Congratulations, why did you purchased from Gurgaon if you are in Delhi..Originally posted by ashish33us View PostHello Guys, Finally after much thinking i have bought my dream bike on Tuesday(16-Oct-12) CBR 250R(STD) Tricolor from Ganpati motors(Gaurgaon) and driven it for almost 50km till now. Regarding my clutch cable i was lucky to find one in Gurgaon itself from a new honda showroom which is just 6 month old and not even listed in Honda website, luckily i was able to find from google when i inquired them they told me they have one and i was not able to believe that finally i got one in gurgaon itself which saved my time travelling to Delhi to source one.
Anyways, i'm thinking of getting one as as spare ..aslo got installed a seat covers.
When i asked the ASC guy for chain cleaning and lubing they quoted me rs 150 for cleaning and 150 for lubing...Are they charging too much or it is a genuine price for chain cleaning and lubing?
Any workaround for silencer cover scratches ?, it really spoils the look.
