  • Thanks a lot for the reply icemag ji and yes I'm referring your horrible experience in my whole post, even when I experienced this thing today by myself and remember your incident and so I decided to walk from that point to home.

Thanks a ton to aargee sir for sharing your experience and suggestion via PM route....you are a true C250R encyclopedia. Yes....I'm going to do exactly what you suggested about replacement.

Both (icemag and aargee ) from your post/suggestion I gather that bike can do the mere 15km with this condition. Thanks for ensuring this, Before I'm thinking (shivering) if this thing happen if I'm far more away from home..... But glad to know CBR drivable without chain slider for emergency purpose.

I also like to know where I can buy some aluminium blended duct tape, to use for emergency purpose..... anyone ?

Thanks for the info rajpandey10, but most of the time this kind of service not available here in West Bengal. Last I read it require a yearly membership as well as the coverage area is very limited to applicable city...... and this is the bike which never respect any limit be it city/state.

          • I have been hearing so many issues with the cbr. Issues like battery dying out suddenly, failure to start, key unlocking issues, chain slider just to name a few. This is so disappointing from Honda. My 5 yr old P200 is so much better. I have never faced a single issue with my P200. Feels like i should reconsider my booking plans with the Cbr !! I know no machine comes problem free but most cbrs facing similar issues is something to think about. If only, someone could re instill some hope in me..

As you just read here including mine, these are the 1st genration of CBR launched here in India, I doubt current gen CBR solved most of them as well as hopefully they comes in high quality parts. Just couple days ago, got a chance to close look of 2012 CBR250, found the handle bar, switch portion, grip are far more improve than mine by quality wise....At least I feel so.

It is not only about cbr, it is about awareness of people who own cbr I suppose. The number of cbr owners versus other bike owners in the forum is to be considered. CBR being a premium bike in our context everything gets blown up out of proportion. I was also a pulsar 220 owner, I had to sell it with in 6 months of purchase as it developed repeated piston slapping issue even after change of complete kit twice over....Now does this prove pulsar 220 a bad bike, NO, not for sure. Yes CBR has issue of spares and experience of mechanic but it is a good bike. I am no Honda fanboy but speaking out of my experience on both bike. Am soon changing to another brand by the way....
Don't form your opinion just reading few posts in the forum, if you want a full picture read the whole forum, that will give you a holistic opinion.
                Happy biking.

There are issues with almost all the new bikes that have been launched. (KTM, P200 NS, CBR250 etc..) However, CBR250 is not exactly an upgrade from P220. If you want comparatively less niggles, I recommend you wait for some more months as by then most of the issues would have been sorted out.

Techfreak, thats exacty my point. Out of 50 P220 users, only you have suffered from the piston issue but in the case of Cbr, 7 outta 10 are suffering from almost similar kind of issues. So that does exhibit the bad quality of Cbr unlike that of P220. I mentioned the same earlier, no bikes are problem free but wen most of the owners have similar complains cropping up, that doesnt sound good. I'm neither a honda fan. I never was, i am not, but i like the cbr and moreover i find no other bikes that i could switch to. RE is great but i'm not interested in them. I am left with lil or no options in my reach. So Cbr is my main option & i have read all the posts in the forum.

PS. If i may, Why are you changing to another brand? Are you not happy with your ride?

                      Neel08, Thank you very much..

Chinmayakar,Yes, i agree all the recent launches do suffer from problems. And i am upgrading from P200, not P220.

No I am not changing from CBR due to any problem, I am upgrading to a higher class,
In fact it may happen so that my lil Ceeber still stays with me as my daily work horse.

Good to know that you got some solution, can you please share with us/me. Is there something precautionary can be done to anticipate/fix this problem that it shall not occur with other CBR owners. Actaully i am a new CBR owner so i am actually curious to know these things to avoid any severe circumstances.

Yesterday i noticed that some(5-6) of the threads of my clutch cable has been broken, then i went to honda showroom to get it fixed, to my surprise the service center guy told me that he is not having CBR Clutch cable and suggested me to inquire another service center... I was really surprise to see that they dont have a Clutch cable. Then i inquired couple more ASC and they also didn't have it. As it was getting late last night so i thought to inquire in morning to the rest of ASC to check my luck. I am not sure how much i can drive with partial broken cable, however the mechanic told me i can easily pass 2-3 days with normal driving.

                          • Cone Set

Finally got the cone set replaced after 13 months of ownership. It was done under warranty. The bike handels well now.
The top bearing was very bad as compared to the bottom. For those who would be changing the bearings at their own expense I would recomend using the tapper roller bearing instead of the ball type being used by Honda. The quality of grease used would determine the life of the bearing.
