Ok, but, it also depends upon how much the bike stands up vertically, a slight slant towards the left side also shows the engine oil to be less everytime.

Not necessary; I'm sure most people here may not have any issues, atleast, not that I know off

yup, i am aware of that, so always have someone helping to hold the bike vertical while i check the level......the level DOES decrease over time, i'm positively sure of that....

Didar motors Chennai is a good place man. I got mine in a week (Black ABS) Check with them!

PS: Where did you try earlier? KUN Honda is one place you can avoid. It has developed a bad rapport.

Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight.

It was not that far on the map.

i was curious as to how much oil does the cbr consume in top ups between two routine services ?
for me, this time she has gulped down all the oil remaining in the 1L bottle as top ups over the last 3000km {i had bought two 1L bottles at previous service which was at approximately 4400km ; odo reading now ~7500k}.....i check the oil level every 500km or so and top up till the max mark on the oil window......every 500km or so, the oil level dips down to the min level......
regarding my riding habbits, i like to rev hard, change gears usually at 6-7k rpm, though dont redline it very frequently.....the engine has been running smoothly, and i have not faced any vibrations or any other issue with the ride quality ever......

bottomline is that my bike has consumed over 700ml of oil as top ups over the past 3000km.....is this a normal pattern of oil consumption ?
i am surely going to ask the ASC guys about this when i pay them my next visit, but i would appreciate feedback from all the fellow riders here
Are you sure that you are measuring the oil level correctly. The bike has to be in absolutely upright position. I change my oil every 4500-5000 kms and the level remains near the max level and i never have to top-up.

I wont be surprised if the excess oil has made its way out thru the breather pipe and into some other compartment into your bike.

First things first. Simple to measure oil consumption, do the following.

Measure the amount of oil that gets drained from the bike. Collect the oil over 10 minutes of opening the drain plug and measure it. Simple. You would know whether your bike is burning any oil between services.

Remember, if the oil pressure goes low, or the oil level goes low, there is a warning for that. However if the oil level is excessive, it will simply stress the internal more and create more drag on the moving parts/oil pump assy etc.

So either do an oil change between 1000 kms and measure the oil qty difference that comes out.

Share the details of how and when you check the engine oil.

The manual saya not to check the engine oil when the engine is cold. Run for a few kms and keep the bike in upright position and check. Did you follow it?

I checked with Manasarovar and Kun Adyar as both are closer to Velachery. Thought buying in Manasarovar will be ideal as they are just 5 mins away from my house and service etc will be easy. Any bad feedback on them?

                  Will check with Didar today.

                  • Just a small update to Share.

Some days back my bikes handle was acting weird on turns. I suspected either the handle is jam inside at some point or some problem with the cone-set. I left my bike at the svc (Vihaan Honda, Thane). Mech (Abdul) suggested he will open the front & grease properly inside. I received a call in afternoon, reporting the problem with the conesets. It has developed some dots. I went to the svc & checked. They needed to be replaced. I asked if it could be done under warranty, but looking at my odo reading, the manager said he wont be able to do it for free as the kms are already beyond 6500. Had it been around 2-3k, it was possible treating as a early problem. Being bit irritated, I replied that the bike was little over 4 months old & the problem cannot be digested. Though I understand about the problem, but the price has to be waived off, else I may try mailing to Honda. Manager requested me not to mail & he may try to show the part to Honda & ask for refund later.
However, when I went back in evening to get my bike. He said, the conesets has been replaced & they got the approval to do it for free .
Manager chatted with me on random bike topics in his cabin .
Basically, the job was well done, I saved around 1000Rs on the cone-sets. The bikes handling is much much improved from before. Vihaan honda is seriously the best for servicing or repairs & the mechanic (Abdul) is a magician . At times he will even go in details explaining you theoretically & practically. Every time I go there I return with a big satisfied smile. Though they know most of the CBR owners around from xBHP.
Highly recommended.!! Am very much happy that the things got sorted without any more attempts or arguments..!

Yes, I did see them.. They had developed some strange looking dots on the inner side of the edge. Even he addressed it as dots He said, they might just increase over the time. Its a problem found in many.
