Try liquid polish. I use liquid polish for all the plastic panels. Comes very cheap. I get 400 ml bottle for just 50.

Then I would suggest a one time use only to scrub the remnants of the wax polish that gets stuck on the panels. Also it's a liquid based polish and leaves no residue as such that could turn white. Hasnt been in my case.

      • Whatever be the case, wipe with Diesel, it will shine like brand new for a day + if the panels have remains of polish or wax, Diesel removes them off perfectly. After few hours, remove the Diesel (or let it evaporate in course of time) with Pril dish washer.

All said, I'd still insist strongly to look the pics before jumping into giving solution.

It should as Honda waits to see a chance to void the warranty; changing horn is simple task, but, the way it can be made complicated are...
            1. Usage of higher wattage of horns leading to battery drain
            2. Improper wiring causing short circuit
            3. The horn itself causes short circuit due to poor build quality

Consult with your ASC if you want to be doubly sure; Having said that if you're confident, go ahead & install a good brand of horn

PS - No matter how loud your horn is, buffaloes move only when they want to move

Point - Hone your riding skills not the honking skills

Race Honda...the cheaters right? Will keep that in mind. Tks for warning all of us here.

A little tip here is that, get a CBR from one of the oldest HMSI dealer in your locality, you're less likely to get older stock.
I have no idea which is the oldest dealer in this area but will go to one I have been seeing since 3-4 years over this weekend.. Let's see..

true - while waiting I too checked a couple of CBR 250 and 150 at the same dealer and all of them were showing an odo reading of 2-3 kms...

Good move from you. A 20 km is acceptable. But this is way too much.
It was a shocker to me as well and have written a long mail to Honda.. But haven't received any acknowledgement or reply from them yet..

It was incredibly hard to let go of a bike I had been waiting for 2 months ( I booked in beginning of March but things kept getting delayed because I decided to wait and look at the new tricolor before deciding) !! But then, I would never have felt satisfied by buying a bike that had run that much already ! So, am back to square one now - will be looking for one in other dealers now, but most dealers here are saying that they do not have a red ABS in stock and it will take at least 15-20 days to get one... Is it the same situation in other cities/dealers as well ?

Which brings me back to my old question - how can I confirm the month of manufacture of the bike to make sure it's from the latest batch and not one of the older batches before the tricolor ??

WTH!!! Why does it even take 2 months to get one? Here in South it takes nore more than a week to get one; if you have a good rapport (or talk firm) with dealers, you can get it in a week & there's one excellent post on this from one of our members stating how to get the bike in short period.

3-4 years? Oldest dealer should be atleast 10+ years old. Let me find that information for you.

Regarding the manufacturing date etc, unless you see the invoice copy of the dealer, its not possible to determine. Go through post 7600 & 8100 & another excellent post from another member (forgot who it was from); he gave incredible points on how to go about buying a CBR from dealers who're crooked.

Trust me, it isn't that difficult as it sounds especially when you're from Delhi; sounds really ridiculous

amandeepkamboj19 - Your FE seems to be very less for the kind of speeds on 80 & the last one 34 Kmpl for 140 Kmph is too high. Try the full tank method for more accuracy from next time.

                  • The CBR is ready stock delivery in Gurgaon if anyone is having issues buying it in Delhi. They can pick it up from here.

@aargee - the manufacturing date would be on the original dealer invoice as well as if you can get someone to decode their internal numbering system, would be pretty clear.

Other option would be to look at items like the seat underside, innerside of the plastic panels. Most of them generally have a month and year printed on them in the plastic directly. A month or two after that is when you are looking at the manufacturing date of the bike.

                    • oil top up

hi guys....am a regular reader here, but post rarely, have not faced any major issues with my bike till now .....this thread has been very informative, and i appreciate all the knowledge i have gained here, especially thanks to guys like aargee who are very helpful and very specific about the tiniest details of the subject at hand

i was curious as to how much oil does the cbr consume in top ups between two routine services ?
for me, this time she has gulped down all the oil remaining in the 1L bottle as top ups over the last 3000km {i had bought two 1L bottles at previous service which was at approximately 4400km ; odo reading now ~7500k}.....i check the oil level every 500km or so and top up till the max mark on the oil window......every 500km or so, the oil level dips down to the min level......
regarding my riding habbits, i like to rev hard, change gears usually at 6-7k rpm, though dont redline it very frequently.....the engine has been running smoothly, and i have not faced any vibrations or any other issue with the ride quality ever......

bottomline is that my bike has consumed over 700ml of oil as top ups over the past 3000km.....is this a normal pattern of oil consumption ?
i am surely going to ask the ASC guys about this when i pay them my next visit, but i would appreciate feedback from all the fellow riders here

Between services Why would you top up between services every service, it has to be drained & refilled (if possible changing the oil filter too, though not required by Honda)

In my case, I don't top up between services. It might be little hard to digest for experts like PSR, but, till date, I've only topped up not more than 30-50 ml over the max limit (out of paranoid), though I know very well the pressure could lead to issues. But not even once I witnessed the engine oil level below the min mark.

Not sure if you're using 10W30. Every 500 Kms, NO WAY!!! My top ups are like, atleast after 4K odd kms.

If you don't do that religiously, this is very good.

                        100% NO

The above was my experience even when I'd been using 20W40 mineral oil for the first few K's km.

Bars are not always accurate....sometimes those drastically drooped, or at least in mine.

Full tank to flashing the last bar most correct method for this bike...though fill the tank at recommended level as stated own's manual.

                          BTW....nice petrol price there.

i top up just to be safe....dont wanna let it dip below min.....i guess its just OCD for me: cant help checking oil level once every week or so, out of habit
