Yeah, I saw your earlier post as well and thanks for the suggestion... But I will prefer to buy it from east Delhi/Noida/Ghaziabad as it will be almost impossible to go with my father to Gurgaon or Faridabad while taking delivery...

I am in no particular hurry to buy the bike - but, after my last experience, problem is finding a trustworthy dealer who would deliver as promised and when promised...

You dont need to hit rev limiter in all gears to cross 150 but in order to reach the top speed you definitely need to reach rev limiter in 5th.
Hitting rev limiter is not bad or good, its just how I ride. Honda put rev limiter @11.5K after proper testing so it is safe to hit rev limiter.
In 6th the bike does not pull as much as in other gears, so if you are after top speed, you might try this and then let us all know if it makes any difference in the final reading.
        Hope it clarifies.

        Piyush two questions
        1. What is the top speed? I read Argee in FAQ somewhere 170 without a pillion but was the bike a stock one?
        2. Is the rev-limiter at 10.5k or 11.5k. I thought it was at 10.5k. In that case going by Argee's statement that at 155 kph and 9700 rpm, the bike has a lot more to offer.

I will try your suggestion of hitting the rev-limiter in 5th to check the top end but somewhere back in my mind I do feel the bike has enough pull to touch the top end without hitting the rev-limiter in 5th under favourable conditions In the end, the road will have the final say

          • I completed my 1 year on 29 april. And i would like to share my experience with my bike.

When i was in college I used to tell my friends that the day i get a job, i'll sell of my pulsar and go buy an R15. I always told my fiends that i hope Yamaha, Suzuki or Honda designs a bike for India with about 25-30 bhp, mileage of about 30 kmpl and price within 2 lac.

Starting from the december, i was out of college and just got my first job. I got the news that there's a new bike Honda is coming up with and it was CBR250R. I patiently waited for it and booked it on 31st Dec 2010. Although the booking started on 1 Jan but the showroom near to my place started it taking on 31dec itself. I thought i'll be the first one to book but I was second but first STD. In march end i got a call from the showroom. They told me that they has got the stock (4 bikes in total) but can not deliver it to you guys before Honda permits them to do so, but they are putting them on display. I told them not to put mine on display. On 29th April i got the bike delivered and i was told that i was the first one in Delhi. In the beginning it used to grab a lot of attention. Initially the svc guys behaved as if i am a king. Initially I had so much problem with spares availability. I still remember that after about 700 kms i went to svc for first service and they were like, sir forget oil filter we do not even have oil and then they insisted on changing oil only and not filter. I got the servicing done the very next week at 800 kms on odo.

Currently my odo reads 146xx and completed 4 services so far. I got the servicing done at 800, 4500, 9800 and 14000 and changed oil filter every time.

List of parts that are changed so far:
1.) Front disc pads twice at about 7k and 13k
2.) Rear disc pads at about 6k
            3.) Air filter at 12k
4.) Tail Light bulb and indicator bulb
            5.) Shims at 8k
            6.) Exhaust guard
7.) Grab rails and nut bolts(as part of replacement kit offered by HMSI)
8.) Rear tyre at 8K under warranty
            9.) Fairing clips

After the last service my mechanic told me that in about 2k i may have to change my chain and sprockets. I take great care of my bike. I keep my bike absolutely clean. I clean and polish(Turtle wax, Liquid polish) my bike frequently. So far i am highly satisfied with my bike and getting a decent mileage of about 28kmpl under pure city conditions.( Fuelly | Share and Compare Your MPG )The best i got is 31.5 kmpl on my trip to Lansdowne where i was driving at about 100kmph. the Maximum that i've ever managed to go to is 154kmph on NH1. Around once every month i hit highways with my friend on Ninja250r and easily keep up to his pace.

Currently my bike is in perfect condition with no issues.
In the future i will surely buy superbikes but will keep this red beauty forever because this can be used for ever for my daily usage.

                • I had visited Samrat Honda, the Karimnagar (160km from Hyderabad) dealer Mohd Akbar in the month of February for a test ride, which he promptly allowed ( of course his partner being a friend of mine helped!) and I took it for a 20km ride and then took a trial ride of Pulsar, TBTS, but finally you XBhpians made me decide to go for CBR and I had a choice of Red STD and Black ABS from which I went for the black beauty/beast. I made the total payment (195,000/- ORP against 198,414/- quoted/listed price) on 2nd of May and waited for my regular No 7337 (all my bikes have that No) which the RTA people confirmed on 9th. As I was a little busy I could take the delivery today. Through out the deal from test ride to actual delivery today my dealer and his men were quite cordial. Maybe Karimnagar being a smaller town and my being socially well connected might have helped! But on the whole the experience was good.

Now waiting for Good experience from the Crux of the deal The Bike, and preparing the plan for the Pan India trip, the reason for buying the bike.

Once again thanks to all of you for helping the likes of me in making decisions which would be enjoyed far into the future!

Congrats man join the club.. Ride safe..

                      1. The average genuine top speed recorder by the 3 top magazines of the country - Autocar, Overdrive and Bike India for CBR 250R is 148 k/h (ABS version).

                      2. The non ABS version, with its 6 kg lesser weight, could acheive more both in top speed and acceleration.

                      3. 148 k/h genuine is 157 k/h in the meter of the bike.

                      4. Most importantly, like how the speedometer over reads on a bike, the tacho showing the revs also over reads... and this is a factor most people forget while calculating or not aware....

                      5. 9000 genuine rpm on CBR250R is equal to approx 10,200 rpm on the bike's meter....

                      6. The max possible speed the bike can touch on the meter (both speedo and tacho) with the most perfect conditions in a stock form is 164 k/h which is at 11,000 rpm in 6th gear. This speed though is very unlikely to achieve in real life conditions.

Hope I have thrown some light on the bike's top speed :-)

                      Happy Riding..

Even in perfect conditions, given the below two facts:

                        1. The rev limiter cuts at 10500RPM on the meter.

                        2. The 6th gear being a true overdrive gear (gear ratio ~0.96).

the speed-RPM-gear combo you've mentioned is impossible.

P.S. Unless of course, your idea of 'perfect condition' includes a slope.

P.P.S. Even it were to, hypothetically, touch the rev limiter at 10.5k RPM on the meter (in 6th gear), the speedo would show 168km/hr.

That was helpful but why do you feel, it is unlikely to achieve 164 k/h in real life? And second at 164 k/h what is the actual or original speed of the bike eliminating the error
