They needed to be replaced. I asked if it could be done under warranty, but looking at my odo reading, the manager said he wont be able to do it for free as the kms are already beyond 6500. Had it been around 2-3k, it was possible treating as a early problem. Being bit irritated, I replied that the bike was little over 4 months old & the problem cannot be digested.

Argee, I dont know rachitkohli personally but as far as I can understand from his post, his Odo reads 6.5k and his bike is just 4 months old

Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight.

It was not that far on the map.

Oh!!! is it? In that case...what the dealer said initially was utter nonsense. It WILL be covered under warranty upto 32000 Kms or two years whichever is earlier.

        • Even I didnt knew about the conesets getting covered under warranty..

Whatsover, I didnt have to do any arguments. I think it could be just an attempt if I could pay, which I didnt. The work done on bike is priceless though..!

          • Chandru/Aargee: Checked with the chennai dealers Kun, Didar, & Manasorovar, all are quoting 30-45 days for ABS model. Manasorovar has STD model black in stock but not sure if its 2012...

That's news to me.. Then I think you are left with only two options JSP and MPL, but I don know how close they are to you. Checking the Honda website can help.

I don have any contact or first/hand experience with them. PM Argee for JSP Honda details and PM prithvi for MPL Honda details.

Yes it can do much more depending on various conditions (rider weight, wind, luggage/ pillion, fuel in tank, slope/ incline etc).
In favorable conditions I personally have touched 162 in sixth gear.

I achieved top speed in 6th gear only because i hit the rev limiter in 5th gear.

Try redlining in 5th gear before shifting to sixth on a straight freeway and you might get better results.

Look between the top of the chain & swing arm, you'll spot a rubber slide; this is called chain slider. Kim says, keep checking it periodically; worst case, the rubber cuts & falls off; when running, the chain will start rubbing against the swing arm & makes noise. You can manage for over 30-50 Kms (which is not recommended full hearted, but on unavoidable circumstances).

Get one from ASC & replace (you can do it as DIY also by removing the front sprocket cover) it as soon as you can.
