That's a relief. Thanks aagree. And I am planning to replace engine oil cap by a bolt type cap of aluminium so that it can't b opened by miscreants. People around here r horrible, they even damaged my keiti Tankpad. :/ who knows out of jelousy they may pour sand into d engine via oil cap :/

    Here is d product

Is any similar ones available in India at a cheaper price maybe?

    • month of manufacture ?

      Hi all,
I will hopefully be getting the delivery of my red ABS CBR 250R tomorrow. Just want to make sure that it is of the latest batch so that it has the (whatever) latest updates and improvement in quality that is supposed to have been introduced in the Tricolor..
Can someone please tell what is the month of manufacture of the Tricolor ? And secondly, how do I check the month of manufacture of the bike the showroom people show me ? I tried searching on the thread but did not really find a definitive answer...
Apart from that, I will be taking the PDI list someone shared to make sure everything else is okay - anything else I should be checking specifically ?

thanks in advance for the help...

      • Awesome mileage

        Guys,

I was part of the Chennai CBR ride yesterday morning. Had a great time and start of many more to come. As always a rider gets wiser day by day and this ride was no exception. Learnt a few things along the way.

Did a top speed of 155 kph and the babe had a lot more to offer Now the highlight. Filled my tank at 1070 kms and refilled it today afternoon when the odometer was reading 1330 kms. And guess what it took 5.99 litres to fill it upto the brim.

        the mileage= (1330-1170)/5.99 = 43.41 km/litre

        I was like

points to remember: ~200 kms were done on highways predominantly cruising at 80-90 with occasional burst where we roared across to check top end. Man it was awesome (4 bikes at 150+) blasting side by side. Did above 120+ a couple of times. And rest 60 kms in Chennai start stop traffic where lot of acceleration and decelaration was done.

Prithvi could vouch for how we ripped the bike in traffic. I was frequenting 100 quite a few times in this 60 kms.

Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight.

It was not that far on the map.

Yoho, that is extreme, so we got some goodies of touring on high lanes here!

Though FE would never be a primary concern for CBR riders, yet this can help keeping other a'holes mouth shut on : "a diesel car would cost less than this, per KM basis...........blah blah"

saw the pics too....... nice! keep riding the wings
Every time i am able to change my bike's engine oil, i feel like passing another semester amongst thousands, of being a proficient rider.

          • Regarding First Service

            Hi Guys!!
I am about to take my CBR for the first service sooner than later.
Can you pleezee tell me what all shall I take care of? I mean I read about changing oil filter but couldnt really find a detailed answer.

Also if any Mumbai owner could suggest me the best place to get the service done. As many have mentioned and even I have noticed (at the showroom), the lack of knowledge among the staffs about the 250cc engine.

            • Completed my 3rd service. Though I have managed to complete 5K odd kms. It is almost an year old now (D.o.P. 30-05-2011) So I had to complete the 3rd service as per the manual. They changed the Oil filter, Oil changed, Coolant level checked, Brake oil level checked, Chain lubed and had to adjust the fork as it was bit tight. Now the Bike is running smooth.

Its not something that can spoil the entire engine; I've run for about 9K+ kms on mineral oil, nothing has happened. Just that, the mineral oil, will not help you reach speeds over 135+ easily.

See, this depends purely on the rapport & how you approach your ASC; like I said before, HiTech (GJ), Manasarovar & JSP (TN) charged me nothing for tightening & lubing the chain; Lakecity tried being smart, but eventually they too didn't charge me anything for lubing & washing my bike.

Try with one of the oldest Honda dealer in your city, they might be helpful.

My humble suggestion is you to put a link to that post in your signature because it is so much simple to find a post of your's rather than searching for any other post's in xbhp

                          • rear suspension

                            Hi,
i had purchased my bike on the last week of august 2011. since then i have gotten my rear suspension replaced in november or december i dont exactly remember, will have to search for the bill. any ways. it was covered under warranty. the problem with it was that it used to make the squeaking noise while on play. on examining it we found that it was slightly bent, and the springs were rubbing against the black casing. well the new ones worked fine. up untill a few days back. today morning i noticed the sound again. and on further investigation found that this suspension too is bent. now you all should know, i am heavy, about 102 kgs. i have covered only 3300 kms in 9 months, i dont do any stunts and dont off-road either. i slow down before a speed bump and i try to avoid pot holes as much as possible. i can literally count the times i have hit a pothole and flew over a speed bump. as far as i know i am the only one facing this issue of bent suspension. forgive me if i am wrong i dont really stay up to date with this forum. but if anyone has faced the same issue could you tell me if you are facing it again? and also what do you guys think could be the issue. whats bending my suspension? honda dosnt have any answer

                            • mikewu - Question to you - What's the suspension setting? Is it 1 or 5? Pls get that info from ASC, if you don't have it on hand. Also pls share the dealer from where you bought your CBR & the ASC from which the rear suspension was replaced.

Binoy & Neel08 - Can accept the suggestion, but just think over, do we really need to make people so lazy ?
