If you have the soft copy of the service manual, you can check the prices from the scan copy of my bill a few pages back. As far as I remember, it was probably around 300 or so.Originally posted by r13nick View PostYou are not a chemical. So think before you react.

Just my 2 cents: I experience vibes on my 220 if the chain has been tightened too much.. You say you gave the bike for lubing maybe they tightened the chain too.. Might wanna check with them..Originally posted by aman15 View Posthey guys having footpeg vibrations again.. Its only in 4th gear between 4.5k to 5k rpm... I was searching the internet for this .. I did find something but it was for some other bike of honda 954 i guess.. It was written that it might be related to chain or gear issue then it clicked in my mind that few days back i had given my bike for lubing and yes the problem started after that only .. Before lubing i had covered around 2k kms and there wasnt any issue but after lubing the vibration was there ... What do u think guys is it becoz of this ??Get ready for the ride! 24 Hours on a Bike...

Guys going for first service
I asked SVC people if they have FS oil or not
But they do not have it yet
please tell me should I go for mineral oil or not.
Will I feel some difference in FS or mineral oil in terms of smoothness?
Does mineral oil lasts for 6000 km?
Also my bike has clocked 800 on odo and have started feeling roughness.
Please do tell me your experience of both oil
What precaution should I take during first service
Apart from oil and filter change, Chain lube, coolant top up
What else is to be done?

Yes ,...and the shocking point is that it was thicker than the recommended grade and so not likely to have problem of excess oil consumption....except the fact it is FS, which I think made the difference.Originally posted by aargee View PostThat was 20W50 SirWhen Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Sir, there's lots of things that was discussed with HMSI on the engine oil grade; HMSI feels 10W30 is more than sufficient as they say they've thoroughly tested their engine not getting heated beyond 93 degree with the same 10W30 engine oil.Originally posted by psr View PostYes ,...and the shocking point is that it was thicker than the recommended grade and so not likely to have problem of excess oil consumption....except the fact it is FS, which I think made the difference.
What about the newer CBR engines that comes with 10W30 FS right from day one right out of factory?
PS - I heard HMSI is dispatching Unicorns right out of factory with 10W30, not sure how far this is true

All Hero Honda bikes have switched to 10w30(they still don't have logical explanation for this)...and Honda is also doing the same.10w30 lets the engine Rev faster , and in a LC engine the cooling job,and heat stress, is much less for the engine oil, but in a Air cooled engine the engine oil has greater heat stress ...still 93 C is a stressful temperature for an engine oil. 85 C is a more amiable temperature when the oil property is more likely to remain constant, esp., under repeated heating and cooling stress.Originally posted by aargee View PostSir, there's lots of things that was discussed with HMSI on the engine oil grade; HMSI feels 10W30 is more than sufficient as they say they've thoroughly tested their engine not getting heated beyond 93 degree with the same 10W30 engine oil.

I am not too sure about the new engines having FS oil..Unless the manufacturing tolerance have been highly upgraded ,since FS cannot be used in new engines, and it will also delay the setting in of the engine parts to a great extent.Last edited by psr; 05-04-2012, 01:13 PM.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

I don't know about HMC as I haven't spoken to any of them; so what I'm saying applies only for HMSI.Originally posted by psr View PostAll Hero Honda bikes...setting in of the engine parts to a great extent.
93 MAY be stress tested, so what you're saying about amiable temp may or may not be applicable. But for sure, I did a gruesome ride 3 weeks ago (you know it) for several hours & the temp bars didn't raise beyond 3 for over 750+ Kms under hot Sun.
I've been repeatedly asking the same question, but they keep assuring the engine oil is good & superior. Also what surprises me is that 10W30 is not a standard across any leading manufacturer; there's virtually no 30; either its 40 or 50; I don't know how to put across the question more to them

Ask them to get it from a different ASC or leave your bike at an ASC where they have 10W30 FSOriginally posted by amandeepkamboj19 View PostBut they do not have it yet

I would, from my experience, suggest you to go for mineral in the first service. But having said that, there are people (as Aargee pointed out) who have been using FS from day 1.Originally posted by amandeepkamboj19 View Postplease tell me should I go for mineral oil or not.

As a precaution, if you go for FS, have a look at the oil level regularly, to check for depleting levels. That will be the ideal thing to do.
P.S. FS will make the engine much smoother than mineral.
No boss. It wont. 2500-2700kms, from my experience.Originally posted by amandeepkamboj19 View PostDoes mineral oil lasts for 6000 km?
Have a look at the back of the 1st service coupon, it'll give you a fair idea. Just let the mechanic know if you have any niggles, like fairing rattle, paint peel off from engine/silencer shield, etc. You can claim warranty on the latter.Originally posted by amandeepkamboj19 View Post

No issues; I'm quite happy you too answeredOriginally posted by dreamseller View PostDidn't see that you've responded already
Sry, I meant FS lasts 6K easily; Mineral will certainly last for 4K+ FOR SURE; as a matter of fact, I rode all way from Chennai to Jaisalmer & had an engine oil change being to finicky, yet the engine oil was RED in color. That would've been easily 3K kms considering the fact I went to Mt Abu, few local runs & round about route to Jaisalmer.Originally posted by dreamseller View PostAre you sure? mineral and 6000kms?
I've had 3 oil changes in the last 7k kms, all mineral.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Guys need small help here.Need to change the Rear Tyre.I have been digging this thread for some info and from the posts i have read i can summarize the available options.
1) PSD - AFAIK,this comes in 130/70 and 150/70 profile,Can somebody confirm if it comes in 140/70 as well.Approx cost would be ??
2) Dunlop - I am getting this one for 2950 with some 03 years warranty, blah Blah !!.Any reviews in this one ??
3) Sirac - This is on heavier side and is more of a offroading Tyre.
I dont want to go for the stock tyre.
Cheers

1. Go for PSD if you can get 140/70R17; I'm a stock lover, so I don't suggest anything other than stock. When I tried searching for 140/70, I was told PSD doesn't come in that size. But people have been using it, but not sure if its 130/70 or 140/70
Cost not sure.
2. Dunlop is being used by Srivaastav; has a good opinion on it; Cost around 2.9K
3. No idea; one more option left is MRF ZapperQ, which, IMHO, is more suited during rains than dry weather.
I'm using second set of Conti, feel its certainly better
Whenever you settle for one, pls post your review & if possible the dealer from where you bought; this is to update post #8100. TksSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
