Re: Honda CBR 250R
The LEDs are 3528 type SMD. You can get them easily from any electronics market (or ebay). However, first check if it's a connection issue (the cable that connects to the speedo console). You won't easily get the ice blue ones, so either settle for an amber LED backlight or white/warm white LEDs for good readability.Originally posted by Fmeeran View PostLast edited by AK3D; 07-01-2015, 11:44 PM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Thanks a lot. On second thoughts, I will try and take this to the electronics guy in my company.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostThat's great. And yes that chunk costs 6k IIRC, and I'd suggest you to take it a guy who deals specifically with PCB because these LEDs require some correct positioning and a steady hand. Screw up and you screw the whole unit. Just my two cents!
Ride safe!
Cheers!

Thanks a lot AK3D. Just ordered a set on eBay. It's a pack of 50, so I'll have some to spare if in case anyone else needs it.Originally posted by AK3D View PostThe LEDs are 3528 type SMD. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Wow ok. Is there any permanent fix to this?Originally posted by backlash4u View PostHad the same problem with my instrument cluster. Took it to a local electronics guy and fixed it. Be sure to do it properly coz the problem will be back and you will have to do it again.
Can I just stick a different brighter LED at the back and be done with it?

Happy birthday AK3D.
going OT, why not create a thread which has everyone's birthday on the list. Just like in most offices we have portal where birthdays are reminded.
Cheer,

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Some soldering skills are required. It's a simple job with the right LEDs.Originally posted by Fmeeran View PostThanks a lot. On second thoughts, I will try and take this to the electronics guy in my company.

The problems happened only with the blue and white LEDs used by Honda in their speedo consoles. I suspect a low quality supplier for those. The other lights didn't die out, just the 4 LEDs for the digital speedometer and at times, the white LEDs that are behind the tachometer.Originally posted by backlash4u View PostHad the same problem with my instrument cluster. You can also use 2835 type LED, while the SMD package is simliar, they can take higher voltage and are much brighter than the 3528s.Originally posted by Fmeeran View PostWow ok. Is there any permanent fix to this?

Take a look at the LEDs that were replaced in my speedometer.

which ones have you used ? the brighter ones ? also you stated that you got a pack of 50 . hence if you have spare would you be comfortable to send a few to me to keep a backup for future failure if any for my my bike.
also belated happy b'day mate."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

I didn't get a pack of 50, it was Fmeeran. I bought a few colors off ebay.com. I settled with warm white LEDs for the backlight as the blue LED I received is very blue (not ice blue - take a look at the pic).
The effect with the speedo console on with the warm whites is a very light blue and appealing. Since I already replaced the 6 dead LEDs (4 for the speedo backlight and two for the tachometer), I decided to replace all of them with new ones so I don't have issues going forward.
These were 3528s as well, but brighter. 2835 is much brighter and would be distracting in the night.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Further more, wouldn't it look like the CBR 150R console. Consdering the fact, both bikes look the same.
