Hearty Congratulations ! Keep rocking and keep the ODO ticking !

Finally deciding to go for a Red CBR ABS - after waiting (wasting) 10 months waiting for the face lifted new CBR !

Might go for a used one if the dealers still are not confident of when the bike would come after booking. This was the response they gave across three showrooms in Coimbatore.

the tensioner is just a plug and play kinda mechanism which works along with a spring as a fixed tension so the cam chain should not run loose.
reason is with time the chain stretches and the timing retards you will face a lack of pickup/power also a loose chain can jump a teeth ending up killing the correct timing hence the engine wont start. worse it can open the valve at wrong point while piston is moving up .. damaging both piston and valve and many other items in that chain.

however that knocking sounds slowly disappears once the bike is heated up. in that case dont rev too hard you can still ride the bike but preferred to take to SVC and get it checked. in case the knocking is present even while running the bike after its warmed up then you should ride minimal and take it to the SVC and avoid sudden power bursts....

now there can be 2 cases in this:
the tensioner gave up or no longer extend enough to keep the tension
the timing chain has elongated enough for the tensioner to not work as designed.

in case your FE and power is feeling low and difficult to buzz past 100/110 it can be the chain.. if not then its just a tensioner. 450 bucks.

my first tensioner lasted 25000km and 2nd one lasted just 4k. i am now running the 3rd one and my cam chain length seems to be in tolerance limits.
no idea why the second one failed so early. but i guess everyone gets a lemon sometimes.

chain is around 1k , tensioner is 450. change tensioner first if the issue reappears then go for cam chain change next time
                hope this helps..

Thanks mate. Really helpful. Thinking, will ride it tomorrow, accelerating slowly and not exceeding 70-80 kmph. Will get it checked after the ride. Thankfully no loss in acceleration or milege, hence only 450 bucks i suppose.

If I have understood your problem correctly, then getting a new chain sprocket set is the only solution.

Haven't you been adjusting slack regularly? How come you have that elastic effect on the chain?
The problem occurred with previous chainset and after getting a new one it still exists.

Uneven slack? Do you see kinks on the chain? Have the alignment of both wheels checked once.

No kinks.. kept the chain clean always, looked brand new.

Wheel alignment.. had no issues in handling never fell.
However, last month I collided with a car and the bike is in SVC, perfect time to get it checked.

Very much sounds like alignment issue, or over tightening.

it can be the tensioner as the genral symptoms. i am no expert on r15 but i assume it has conventinal valve system compared to shim like adjustment of CBR hence it should be the tensioner..
