went to nearby petrol pump and brought Engine oil [as checked there was very low Engine oil] poured 1 ltr and after half an hour tried to start , again same noise from engine and didn't start. finally took it to SVC by towing the bike in mini vehicle.
now the bike in SVC and there there are gonna check tomorrow what is the issue [they have some training so no man power to check].
Battery is new and works perfectly , not sure what will be the issue and not sure how much it will cost to repair. from past 20 days some Tappet noise was there and thought of getting it to SVC but couldn't due to work.
any idea or suggestions ?
this incident lil embarrassing as i owned GT250R for 2 years and never had to Tow it to SVC and whenever i have some problems the SVC guys were very quick and helpful
engine oil low is another problem.my gut feeling says you have snapped a valve or cam.. or the cam chain has slipped.
but why engine oil is low ????"A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Scarily, even I am getting a Kat kat sound now. Had changed the shim 3k kms back. Its definitely not the tappet/shim. Its very faint and not uniform aswell. Most prominent in cold starts. Dies away after riding 10 kms. So, couldnt even show the mech yesterday. Engineoil level is OK and no loss in acceleration. Any help friends?HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

for me also it started like that only, no acceleration loss or power loss , only the kat-kat noise was progressively increased.Originally posted by sambit View PostScarily, even I am getting a Kat kat sound now. 1. Broken cam tensioner (mostly this one)
2. Air in the fuel line

Well, engine oil is something that not everyone takes it seriously. Ever since psr sir threatened (taught) me about the relationship & importance of engine oil, I take it extremely serious. I've gone so much nuts these days that I make a point to check for every 500 Km or so, before every long trip, use the same brand of engine oil always & also carry a half a litre of it always unless its a small commute within the citySkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Re: Honda CBR 250R
The 9AH battery is not a direct fit in the CBR250R battery cage. Amaron also makes a 7AH battery that's the stock size for the CBR. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Finally got my bike in a good condition. Chain and sprockets replaced. Chain slider was gone. Replaced it myself. All fairing panels tightened. Cone set replaced. Shock absorber seals and fluid replaced. Front brake pads replaced. Silencer shield replaced. All turn indicators bulbs replaced with leds. Left rear view mirror was broken. Replaced it. Have to replace the right one too. It looks wierd when one is new and the other is old. Now have to polish the bike. Got a 3m finishing compound and 3m liquid wax. Also gotta get a mobile phone holder. Thinking about getting the rynox one which i have on my duke 390 and doing a diy. Your thoughts guys.

Have the same one from Rynox lying with me idle; don't buy, its waste of money due to extremely poor design by HMSI on CPR!!Originally posted by backlash4u View PostThinking about getting the rynox one which i have on my duke 390 and doing a diy. battery is alive....
thank you again. yes i did saw your posts however i have 2 more auxillary lights running along hence thought of cutting and getting a 9 AH one.Originally posted by AK3D View PostThe 9AH battery is not a direct fit in the CBR250R battery cage. good news : the battery wasn't dead.i checked the battery wiring and it was loose. LOL. i was thinking 3 years and its done. i load tested the battery and did about 20-30 cranks in 10 minutes with all lights on. its perfect as of now. so guess i am good for few more months before i move to amaron 7AH."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hello!
I am an Apache RTR 180 ABS owner. I have had this bike for 6 months/3k Kms as of now.
So, a friend of mine is selling his CBR250R STD version that is close to a year old and has covered 5k kms for 1Lakh rupees.
Can you please let me know if this is a good deal and if I should consider this?
I need to sell my Apache first to go ahead with this.
If someone can elaborate on the Pro's and Con's of this move, it would be very beneficial.
Thanks in advance

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hi Raman, It seems like a fair deal and it ran only 5k it should be in good condition too. But I would say check the bike by at least by test ride this will give you an impression of how it's working etc. Coming to pros and cons
Pros:-
1. You will have bike which is fast and reliable Honda engine.
2. If you are interested in long drives then the bike is designed for it.
3. Overall it's a good bike but bit old school compared to Duke or RC.
Cons:-
1. It won't be easy to drive in traffic like Apache.
2. Spare parts are really expensive in comparison and sometimes takes time to get them (depending on the service centre)
3. Service is bit of problem. You need to do research about which Honda SVC gives best service for your bike. (It's common problem for all bigger bikes like Kawasaki , KTM etc).
My personal opinion is that since your Apache is almost new don't switch now until you really want to upgrade. A test ride will give clear indication for you.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
What are these expensive spare parts you are talking about?Originally posted by Dandamudi Mohan Krishna View Post2. Spare parts are really expensive in comparison and sometimes takes time to get them (depending on the service centre)
Sprocket kit is around 2000 rupees, which you need to change every 16K kms, the fairings are about 3k for both sides, the brake pads are relatively cheap for the STD version. Other than these, the regular consumables like, the air filter and oil filter combined should be 600. So what exactly are the spare parts when compared to Apache that are really expensive?
