Thanks Eshan, that link was very helpful.

I've seen some other brands as well such as Carnuba or Formula 1, are they any better than Motomax brand ? How good are the products if placed in ranking sequence.

Yep, there are other brands as well. But Im quite satisfied with the desi brand. Also, we are not posing our machines in a competition neither have that type of weather supporting polishes for days. At least in Pune the amount of dust fall every gets my ride all hazy.

Very helpful links Eshan, both of them.

I've recently bought Armorall Liquid shine polish, but haven't used it yet. Its a little expensive though, but I had read good reviews of it so I thought of trying. I've been on the lookout for a paddock stand to take care of these things by myself and have been unsuccessful.

Guys recently got my bike serviced(3rd service) from didar chennai.
          - the lock set was changed since one of the ignition wire has come out and a small jugaad was made earlier.
          - chain was tightened n lubed.

On my way back from chennai my bike struggled past 8k rpm in every gear and at full throttle in 6th gear the top speed was 132kmph @~8200rpm on a plain stretch. What might be the issue?
The chain is fine and I don't hear any odd sounds from the engine area/bike.

Update: called up the mechanic who serviced the bike, he said since the lockset was replaced the bike has been reset(I'm assuming he's talking about the ecu) and it be ok after 1000km from the service. Can someone shed some light in this?

            5) Apply the 2k rubbing compound if you see any minor scratches, apply it in circular pattern and once dried wipe it off. It should be applied after the wax polish procedure.
In the writeup that you shared, there's a correction I'd like to make. Always use a polishing or rubbing compound before using a sealant or waxing. You are only taking OFF the wax if you use a compound afterwards.

Formula 1 has many fakes in the market, so please ensure you're getting an original one.

For dust, you really need to use a quick detailer or rinseless wash once in a couple days.

Guys, please take a look at the detailing thread, there is a lot of good information there http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...ng-thread.html . Frankly, using a better quality product is good for the longevity of the paint and trim. It doesn't matter what the conditions are, sure a sealant is going to last longer in US conditions, but it does not mean that it'll be useless in India.

To clear some misconceptions around -
            1) A rubbing compound is used to remove heavy scratches and oxidization on the paint. A milder compound would be used to remove swirls and holograms.
            2) A Polish - used to remove minor scratches/swirls and impart smoothness to the surface. Both - compounding/polishing are abrasive methods. They will both remove clear coat or paint.
            3) Sealant/wax : What commonly goes by the name of 'polish' here. This ensures the paint is sealed and protected against bird droppings, dust etc etc. They differ by the type of wax (natural carnauba) or Synthetic wax that the manufacturer has used. Also note that nowadays a hard type of sealant - polymer or nano based is very popular. It will form a hard bond with the paint and a layer of a few microns OVER the paint. One can then wax over it. Also note that some waxes (polishes - mostly local) have abrasives in them. They will erode the paint over time.

            So basically -
first step is to wash the vehicle,
then clay the vehicle (with detailing clay) to get rid of any bonded impurities.
Next comes the polishing/compounding step (if necessary).
Some owners like to have a glaze applied after that - that ensures pop and deeper colour.
            Finally a sealant is applied.
One can use products used to protect trim/vinyl after that.
To maintain the vehicle, use a rinseless wash - if necessary in QD proportions. Both ONR and UWW do a good job. One can also try Proklear RAW as a RW.
There is a HUGE amount of information in the detailing threads on Gearheads and T-bhp as well, in case people are interested.

thats pure bull... even if the ECU was reset it takes max 5 minutes to learn also being an open loop ECU it still retains the OEM map and no reason it wont go past 8k rpm..
try hitting the rev limiter in 1-2-3 gear.. if it works then the bike is struggling with power in higher gears due to heavier load..

with wrong chain adjustment, low tyre pressure, bad tyre alignment etc etc.. it will still hit the rev-limiter in 1st-2nd..

all the above mentioned issues will show major drawback in top gears...

              still just for own sake..
early morning.. remove battery wire for 30 minutes.. connect it again. idle for a minute and rip it for 4-5 km's. only with caution and open road..

              other reasons:
              clogged Injector.
              dirty air filter.
              clogged fuel pump etc..

check the inital steps and revert will troubleshoot further ...

it happens in all gears ?
if yes. might be the defective clutch cable is stretched.
how many km's done on the machine ?
you been doing burnout's ? frequent wheelies ? please don't get offended. try to isolate the issue

you can also pull the clutch cable more from the lever. there is some slack adjustment screw there as well. second point it near the engine oil cap.
is the clutch free? are you able to pull the lever with tension all the way ?
Yes ... the clutch is engaged even after completely release the lever and it happens in all gears ... The technician told that he cant do anything more ... Odo reading is just 8200 kms only ... I am not riding it daily ... and not doing stunts also ... bcoz of the poor condition of roads in MP ...

The slack adjustment screws on the lever and near the oil cap are completely loose. Clutch lever can be pulled ... Now I can feel the heat from engine just after 5-10 mins of ride ... and sometimes a rubbing noise is coming from engine in idle ... also the gear pedal is not smooth ...

I am very much worried about the condition of my ride ... :-(

Do not worry; have the clutch opened and ask the CBR mechanic to show the following things to you:

                  1. CLutch plates: Check if the plates have flattened out. - If yes - replace.
                  2. Steel plates: Check the thickness - compare it with a new steep plate. If the thickness has gone down considerably - replace.
                  3. Clutch bell: Check for scoring marks on the sides. If there are lot of scoring marks - replace.

To give you a perspective, for a 250R, a new set of all the 3 above costs approx INR 3.5k. For the 250R, coolant needs to be replaced if u open up the clutch.

Dont take a decision to replace only based on what the CBR mechanic says - verify for yourself.

Thanks for your PM sanjay. Will talk to you in the morning . Presently I am here in nagpur. I will return back to MP in this weekend and will come back by next week with my ride along with household items. We have to repair it here only, coz the condition of bike is very pathetic. It will not go above 25 kmph and cant ride for long time.

Anyway we will try to clear the clutch issue here in nagpur itself and if some major issues, can take it to hyderabad.

seems like clutch plates are sticking. get it opened and checked asap.
buy 1litre of Coolant for 350 bucks if needed. but get that clutch work set asap. by riding it more you are damaging the plates and over heating the engine.

avoid Jugaad from those self claimed Expert Mech's. unless you dont know what has to be done. he is as good as you are with some spanners in hand..

seems like clutch plates are sticking. get it opened and checked asap.
buy 1litre of Coolant for 350 bucks if needed. but get that clutch work set asap. by riding it more you are damaging the plates and over heating the engine.
it looks a stuck rebound spring to me..

i see that you have a 150R. did you check with folks in 150R thread if they faced any similar issues ??
I am not going for any jugaads ... and I don't like ride the machine even with a small problem...I am not using it from last week ... And I am not going to ride it at this condition ...

I am having 150R and before I wrote this issue in 150R thread only ... But I didn't get even a single line reply there ... Then I came here and now I am not much worried about my baby after all the above replies from you guys ...

Honda is just making some bikes and they are thinking about how to sell it ... They don't care about after sales support ... I wrote mails more than 5-6 mails about the extended warranty.. in owners manual , it is 4 or 4000 kms and in next page it is 6 months or 4000kms ... and in the extended warranty booklet it is 2 months or 3000 kms ... last week I got a call and the guy said the bike has to be serviced at 4000kms or 6 months ... then I told him to give a reply through mail but till now I didn't receive anything ...
