Thanks for all your feedback bro.Originally posted by kishoremuthu View Postone of the best available in India currently for the above mentioned requirements..
U heard it right
spare are now available.. HMSI have opened a warehouse in Kolkata recently.. Earlier they had a warehouse only at Gurgaon.
Can't comment on the capability of technicians about doing major repairs. I feel they decent enough.
I believe you know the issues that i have faced so far with my CBR. Still, here it goes
1. Rear tyre defect (Got it replaced)
2. Handle issue (got it rectified)
The bad thing according to me is the Rear Tyre. It runs out off grip very easily.
Fuel efficiency is pretty good. getting ~30 kmpl in daily city riding.
Ideally a proper upgrade for me after a Pulsar 220 would be a Ninja 250 but to be honest, it's excessively priced. I sometimes feel even the CBR250R is a bit over priced though, still affordable.
Heard that in many CBRs, paint peel off in many areas. Also there were issues with poor quality parts. Though I'm sure that will be much better than Bajaj. :P
maybe bad when Honda compared to Honda, but still let me about it. And what was the issue that you faced with your handle?

Add fuel additive to your tank while topping up and then experience the smoothness - it is to be felt to be believed. Huge difference to the comfort and efficiency levels.Originally posted by me is rossi View Post@Prince: I commute avg. Daily 60-70 kms of which 65% Highway and 35%proper city conditions with bumper to bumper traffic-women crossing/driving- need for squeezing between cars at 10km/hr- manoevouring between cars/buses/trucks kind of traffic.
The bike returns a decent 35km/L & I need to service it next after another five THOUSAND kms! I can go to leh & come back after each service!!!lol
I got my entire silencer (worth Rs.17000) changed coz i saw minor rust on tip of the silence(perfect place for water to collect) for FREE. I might frame the FOC bill! Got a synthetic oil can alongwith rear handle change and nut bolts of heavier make FOC!!!!
On the highway, you may hear a tuned yammmy/RD/220 trying super hard to catch up, but not your own bike for sure.
The ABS is a lifesaver and super recommended; the wheels do lock, but with a time lag you can feel even when you've PANICKED.
Waiting to hit the NH's !

Your engine is burning Oil probably. Did you have a fall?
Also check your coolant level
Also is that smoke only when you start her up or does it stay throughout the day?
It is there only for 5-6secs after the start and many time its there when its at idle for some time and i rev it.Originally posted by abhiwar View PostYES ! now my friend had faced similar issue with his R15 and symptom were
1> Bike struggled to idle and also it used to take 2-4 attempts to Start
2> Poor performance.
We checked everything but no clue finally after opening Engine head the mech tod us that some seal has gone kaput and Coolant was entering in combustion chamber . Keep an eye on Coolant .
The problem is that there is no drop in performance, fuel efficiency, only one new sound is the thing i am more worried about. But this should not happen also i keep a check on the coolant level and there is some decrease.
My bike had a fall when it was parked outside my house but the smoke is coming before this fall happened.Never upgrade without getting your basics RIGHT.

- what is FOC?
- can't afford ABS so i am planning of non-ABS only.
- my daily running will be 160 kms.
- what is the service interval?
- how much does servicing costs?
- other maintenance costs?
- how is the headlight in night on highway?
- some showrooms say there is waiting period on minumum one month, others say "saar, it is available, no waiting period" - do they have old unsold stock lying with them?

Urgent Advice!
I have been calling all the Gurgaon showrooms for a Black CBR with ABS. One guy has located a display piece in Palwal (50-60 kms away). I have asked him not to bring it to Gurgaon as I want to go to Palwal, do a PDI and drive it back myself.
1. Is it okay to pick a display bike? He says it is 2012 manufactured but I cant be sure. How can I be very sure that this display bike was not used for test drives etc.? Is the odo reading very reliable?
2. Is this the correct PDI document or is there a newer/better version?
Anything else to check?
Sorry for sounding paranoid, but I dont want to get a lemon
Would appreciate some quick advice as I can close this deal today.

Even i share the exact same opinion which you have pointed above.Originally posted by princesirohi View Postnowadays i am thinking of purchasing a bike and i am inclined towards CBR250R-reason-- i want a 250 CC bike.
- i dont want a 200 CC bike that gives almost same power output as other 250 CC coz the torque of that 200 CC will always be less than 250 CC and a 200 CC producing the same power as 250 CC will always be bit more stressed. and double seated performance drop will also be there. blah blah blah...meaning whatever... i want a bike which offers me significant upgrade in terms of power and performance, pick-up and top speed. current bike P150 UG3
- next came my fav. till date the CBR- it has everything i want- power, torque, pick-up, top end, full fairing, sufficient handling, comfortable riding posture, even pillon will also be not unhappy.
- one slight problem is the quality of plastic/fiber, fit & finish quality of switchgear didn't impress me - way below KTM & R15- and i am not talking of test ride bike, but display bikes.
CBR has that much needed throughout-the-rpm-torque which i really liked. With a pillion i have seen many a bikes(peaky setups) struggle on our roads. Yes, those setups come in handy for the mid-corner exit speeds on a race track but on our roads, i would hate to downshift just to keep the bike at its powerband.
Currently there are only two bikes in the market which are quick as well as torquey are the P220 DTS-iand the RTR 180. Give them the stick at any rpm and they go crazily wild, which few bikes in the market can match.
So we are only left with the CBR, which is still one of the quickest as well as the fastest bike in the market barring the Ninja 250R which is priced 2X times as that of the CBR. Yes i agree that the component/paint finish of some parts look sub-standard but then again we don't have any other choice.
PS: Not yet test rode the KTM, so cant really comment on it.

Went to the KTM showroom and had a look at the Duke, looks pretty nice, tiny though
. So anyway, most of the International and Indian CBR reviews at launch logged 0-100km/h at around 8.5-8.8 seconds, some even a tad bit lower. But now, it's suddenly become "slow as a boat" and the same 0-100 times are said to be 9.5+seconds (Less than the Duke), what gives?

You are talking about xbhp's Duke review comparo figures? If so those figures were handed out by Bajaj themselves. So you can guess the rest.Originally posted by Lux Aeterna View PostWent to the KTM showroom and had a look at the Duke, looks pretty nice, tiny though

On another note. For people who have replaced their chain/sprocket/rvm/ or anything from a screw to a major component.
Please do post the cost of the part inclusive of taxes so that one of us can make a reference post with a checklist for this thread. Somebody a few hundred pages back came up with the idea but nobody bothered to fill it up.
Service receipts/details will also come in handy to help prospective buyers get an idea of the overall cost of maintaining the bike.
You mentioned that you took ur bike to the ASC. Did they not tell you anything about the issue?Originally posted by jasmeetsinghchawla View PostIt is there only for 5-6secs after the start and many time its there when its at idle for some time and i rev it.

Prince - Don't mind the initial cost, do not settle for the STD version, opt ONLY for ABS, you'll be not only a happy owner, but will keep smiling because you've an ABS. Take my word.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
