I don't know that too; Rolon engineers told me this when they were here in Chennai. They said all these fuels would bulge up the O-Rings within the chain.

Edit - Look at this site - http://bhpdrive.com/how-to-clean-you...cycle-at-home; they too say, Diesel can be used. But I highly disagree with their statement that...
"Diesel being volatile, evaporates easily than Kerosene" because I know (and have experienced) that, Kerosene evaporates faster than Diesel.

Actually, I have done this way just once, which was 2 days back. I got the chain pressure washed thoroughly, then waited for almost or more then 30min & lubed it..!! I hope the water should have gone by that.!

Ok..here is what i do while cleaning my bike's chain .

        1> Inspect chain
        2> Remove front sprocket cover
3> spray Kerosene and clean chain using tooth brush
4> whip out extra kerosene .
5> wait for another 10-20 mins
        6> Lube chain .
        7> Fix front sproket cover.

Correct me if am doing something wrong here
Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

        • Why no one suggests the Motul chain cleaner? which is the best way of cleaning the chain. Just spray that on the chain and brush the chain with a grunge/tooth brush and see the magic. I was using the old skool techniques(kerosine and SAE-140) to clean and lube the chain. But Motul clean and lube is the best products money can buy.

Opps sorry missed that... I was even wondering why you didn't suggest Motul. BTW any cheap Grunge brush available in India? This one is around 2K which seems to be an exorbitant price.

                  • I can second the Motul Chain clean and Chain Lube. It works wonders. my Classic 500 when was delivered had a nasty rust on the chain and the dealer didn't think that it needed replacement. But since then I'm using the Motul products and now the chain rust doesn't show at all and it stays lubricated for quite a while.

                      • Kerosene, Diesel & Petrol (most importantly) - DO NOT use them at all
Actually motul products is not available here so i guess i have no other option but to use wd-40 to clean my chain but as far as i knw wd-40 is controversial subject to clean chain maybe it's a misconception of mine but wht ever i'll use wd-40 to clean my chain from now on and then lube it with sae 90 which is rly gr8 i also read on manual they recommend us to use sae 90 to lube chain

here are my observations/faults that i discovered on my 100+ kms ride today:

1.the handle bar in not equally inclined, the left side touches the tank.

                          2. noticable knocking at <4K RPM range.

3.kind of a "tick tick" sound somewhere from the front as if a small plastic stick is constantly crashing against the bike (somewhere from the front side near the radiator)

4.Well is my CBR so noisy or is it the CBR in general which has a the "dhuk dhuk" kinda silencer sound like a bullet....(people keep saying "honda bikes are the most silent bikes on road, but ur CBR is an exception"

5.well, like i had said before, i had a few scratches on my tank and my silencer guard (as well as 200 KM reading on my odo)..
well, i went to another honda showroom today and they said that if the scratches were present before delivery, u have all rights to get ur tank replaced with a new, spotless one and so also the silencer guard...so em gonna do that tomorrow, ask them for a replacement (i toked to my dealer and he said he will do wat he can to satisfy me..or else, the commissoner (my dad) is gonna srew them)

6.THE problem is i have to remove the tank pad (from planetDSG) and reapply it on my new tank....is it possible??...
                          sumone suggest!!!!!!

7.all otherz are small problems like a noisy gear shift, noisy chain...etc etc

Hi AmlanR this is Sachin .. i truly agree about your observation.. same things i have noticed in my cbr 250 which i have on which i have done around 450 kms. even the paint on my tank and the right cowl is fading god know why..

I have heard the same elsewhere. I am sorry for the less knowledge but can you explain the reason? Does it affects the bike's health?
