Grunt and Power
I dont know where and how you rode the bike.Originally posted by hotshot.vipin View PostLIKE I SAID i have been following this section like a religion and i knew what to expect,.,.,.slow handling compared to the r15 but there was also very high vidration at around 5-6k rpm jus like my oldie pulsar which makes it seem like it is not ready to rev beyond that point. like in an old bike u feel dat the bike is not comfortable to rev hard
I also dont know what was the weight of your pillion.
But what I Do know is that i was able to touch 157 with a light pillion and 142 with a heavy guy on my CBR. Have done 162 max and i dont remember a ride when i was riding in good spirits and any bike or car has ever overtaken me.
I am not saying that CBR is the best bike out there all I am trying to put forward is you should not judge a bike, that has been thrashed by everyone, in such a small distance. Try getting hold of some member who is in your area and request them for a ride. If you can prove to them that you are worthy enough to ride their bikes, they will give you. Or just go as a pillion with one of them and after that post your comments.
People who sit behind me are always amazed by the sheer pull of my bike so imagine how i generally feel as i prefer to ride single.
Its is a fun loving bike who would tick nearly all the requirements of a bike lover.
So give the bike one more chance and probably she will win you over.

from the forum and all the ownership experiences of you people but you are right i guess. i took a short ride with a light pillion but the traffic did not allow me to rev it freely. once i was able to touch 80 in that complete ride.Originally posted by piyush2112 View PostI dont know where and how you rode the bike.

Post 4th Service Update
The bike returned from its fourth service last Thursday. Wanted to give it some time and check for niggling issues before posting the update, hence the delay.
Gave the bike for service at 15600 kms. Total cost of the service came out to 5871 Rupees. Posting the list of items i remembered changing.
1. Engine Oil (10W30 FS)(750/-)
2. Oil Filter(260(/-)
3. Air Filter(250/-)
4. Exhaust heat shield(470/-)
5. Disc Pads ( rear only) (ABS)(1200/-)
6. Front brake lever(280/-)
7. Sprocket and Chain Kit (1800/-)
Repainted the engine block under warranty (paint was peeling off).
P.S :- I changed my disc pads for the first time, they were still not completely worn out at 15600 kms, my front disc pads are still the first set, ordered HH rated pads from UK, awaiting delivery. The rear disc pads could have lasted another couple of thousand kilometers, but did not want to keep them, so replaced with stock which costed 1200 Rupees. The front disc pads were making a very slight squeaking noise pre service, which at that I reckoned was because they were worn out, but this has disappeared post the service.
Now, I haven't had any issue with my bike as such, but there was a monumental difference right after the service. It felt like the bike was literally flying. No vibrations, no noise, nothing. Valve clearances were still intact and the tires seem to be in good condition, will probably last another 10k kilometers. The bike just does not lug now in any gear at any rpm. Hence, I end up riding one gear higher than I should be and the bike just shuts off when I realize i am riding in one gear higher, that is how smooth the bike is right now.
Did a short ride of around 300 kms with aargee last weekend, the fuel efficiency was 34.8kmpl. Please feel free to ask for any other information you need.

I was saying since I have bought the bike done 11500 Kms there were no vibrations on 4500 rpm but now because shims need to be replaced I am getting vibrations @4500 rpm., when I asked the SVC when should I leave my bike he said do not give the bike unless we have the proper shims otherwise it will give you more problems. Are we charged for shim replacements? If yes how much and the most important question what are "shims" and CBR Club member card?Originally posted by aargee View PostDidn't understand quite clearly, are you saying you need SHIMs? And what do you need? Shim to be shipped for you?
Sorry but I really do not know about it therefore posting it.

Mine was 33.6 Kmpl; amazing FE for the kind of speeds we did.Originally posted by sayhi2sai View Postthe fuel efficiency was 34.8kmpl
They're chargeable; I don't even know an approximate price as I haven't changed one. The reason why the ASC waits to open up & change the shims are because after opening up & they don't find a suitable shim, the bike should be laying there idle until they arrive; they cannot reassemble it back because they cannot charge 3.5 hours of labor without replacing anything.Originally posted by MAVERICK_m21 View PostAre we charged for shim replacements? Cbr vibes
Hi guys... Need some help on my cbr250...
I got it on 16th of sept 2011 n til now m pretty much happy wid d performance... Covered 3000kms til now... Tried doin top speeds n touched 148kmph once! Usually i ride at speeds around 100-110kmph as my bike runs most of d times on highways... Since 1000kms i m noticing some tapet noise n also little vibes around 4k-5k rpm... D vibes r nt so high bt stil doesnt feel smooth... N dis noise n all m noticing especially in dese hot summers when my bike gets extremely heated esp in traffic... I sent an email honda n dey responded d very next day asking me to visit fortune motors in hyderabad(place whr i stay). I approached dem n asked dem to have a look at shims as dat is supposed to b faulty in most cbrs... D mech checked d clearance n said its k as per manual... No extra gap is seen n d schim is k he said... Any xperts on this to clear my doubt plz... d tapets sound is heard very less n tht too when u ride d bike hard or when it gets heated alot, say after riding 10kms or so at 110kmph or so... Does this hav to do anything wid d shim?? Is it normal? Or shud i ask them to change d schim at any cost??
N btw i thought it must b cos of summers so i changed my oil grade to 20w50 castrol gtx... After d oil change i found it a little smoother but stil not upto d mark... Any idea guys????

One more thing i forgot to mention is... When d bike is functioning at low rpms tht is around 3-4k n when i start reving it harder i hear sum abnormal tik tik sound from d engine which has to b heard carefully.. D sound appears similar to when you ride on a freshly laiden tarmac road n those small sticky particles hit d fender and engine! Exactly d same sound is heard jus 2-3times when reving from 3-4k rpm especially if d bike is climbing slopes, sound is more noticeable n for dis reason i test rode one more cbr at servicing centre n found d same in dat bike... So is it normal for d cbr???

Break Pads
Can you please share the make and model number for the break pads as I am also looking for the HH Sintered pads.Originally posted by sayhi2sai View PostP.S :- I changed my disc pads for the first time, they were still not completely worn out at 15600 kms, my front disc pads are still the first set, ordered HH rated pads from UK, awaiting delivery.
The only thing i can guess is you are lugging the bike. If your bike is at approx 3K RPM and you twist throttle (to a large degree) then you would feel some noise untill the RPM gets past 5K. This is normal and sign of lugging. Ride in a gear lower and probably you would not hear the sound.Originally posted by safi View PostOne more thing i forgot to mention is...
