This is the most useful post. I got one more question. Somebody complained about wobbling. That is, the bike doesn't stay in a line if it goes over small imperfections of the road. (for instance the crease you see in concrete roads, parallel to bike's line of course). It happens to my Twister when I sway from one side to the other of the crease or viz. Tyre pressure is always right. I even replaced the conset. Then, I thought it's because of the puny tyre(70mm). I changed the rear tyre to 110. But still it occurs. Please let me know if its an inherent issue of Honda.Originally posted by aargee View PostPost 7500; Page 750FAQ For Prospect CBR 250R BuyersLove the ride, not the destination

Does the owners manual say to use only the HMSI engine oil or does it mention only the grade(10W30) to be used??Originally posted by aargee View PostYes - If you think you want to claim warranty, IF at all there's any expensive damage
No - If you think you can afford, IF at all there's any expensive damage
Most of the bikes I have owned had only the grade of engine oil mentioned in the manuals as far as I remember.Sayan

Same goes with Honda aswell, they haven't mentioned the Brand name to use, only Standard is mentioned (pls chk the user manual).Originally posted by afficionado View PostDoes the owners manual say to use only the HMSI engine oil or does it mention only the grade(10W30) to be used??

What aargee meant to say is (if i am not wrong):
If there is any problem in engine which need to be repaired under warranty then there won't be any problem if you use Honda's Oil, for others you have to fight, have to show artifacts that you have used recommended Standard oil (If question comes on it).--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But again,as long as you use the recommended grade of oil,I don't think there would be any issues with warranty.Sayan

You have no options, your best bet is to buy Duke 200Originally posted by metalman666 View PostWhat options do I have?
So, you've question on oil or is that also resolvedOriginally posted by arjun bharadwaj View Postmy bad. All my questions about the bike are cleared. Except for the one about the oil.
I don't know what to say, upto you; if I were in your place, I'd find the reason as why this happened. Cam tensioner is subject to worn away only due to weak shims & not replacing them on due course of time. I've clocked 17200 till date (purchased Jun end) & my SHIMs are to be replaced only by now.Originally posted by Diuz View PostI should clarify...other than to ask me to replace them.
Anyway, you got it from Dhruvesh like I told you before. Enjoy.
Don't think its because of the motorcycle; try riding a light weight motorcycle on the same road & you'll experience the same. Point is there's no wobbling thing associated with vehicle's engineering.Originally posted by rixBhp View PostBut still it occurs. Please let me know if its an inherent issue of Honda.
Well, the owner's manual also provides option to use 20W40; what happens when 20W40 is used, I'll leave that for the rest of the members to comment.Originally posted by afficionado View PostDoes the owners manual say to use only the HMSI engine oil or does it mention only the grade(10W30) to be used??
Perfectly putOriginally posted by titanic4u View PostWhat aargee meant to say...recommended Standard oil (If question comes on it).
Lol!!! There used to be a lot of things initially & that's why we're advocating to stick to what ASC says these days. Even if you use Motul, Petronas or Shell with the recommended grade, do not expect a 2 bhp increase in performance or 5 Kmph increase in top speed or ultra smooth engine or butter smooth gear shifts. You can only notice a bump in any or all of these very negligibly. I've used HMSI 10W-30 for over 5000+ kms without requiring any change, it just works fine. The suggestion is based to say better safe than sorry as the wounds are healed, but the scar still remainsOriginally posted by afficionado View PostBut again,as long as you use the recommended grade of oil,I don't think there would be any issues with warranty.

Neither am I expecting any increase in performance or top speed. But if I can get that negligible bump in smoothness without effecting the warranty why not go for it..
But seriously, you guys are scaring me.Are the Honda after sales guys so finicky about such issues.I have experiences after sales across Bajaj, Tvs, Yamaha etc but have never seen warranty getting void because of engine oil brand!!!

^^^ What else do you want me to say? Like I said, its up to you; you can even buy the worlds best bike or Gixxer 1000 & change your engine oil next day, if there're engine issues, Suzuki will simply wash off their hands...but that's India. It doesn't work in any developed countries.
Or do you think HMSI is making a fool of us by selling a 10W30 FS for a lower price than its competitors
BTW, what is there to get scared in this? What's wrong in adhering to use a 10W30 FS supplied by HMSI or what's the pleasure of being stubborn on using an expensive oil?
Anyway, read the words clearly, it MAY void the warranty is different from it WILL void the warranty. None of us have experienced on a engine issue due to engine oil change. It all depends on your rapport with the dealer as they're the ones responsible for your warranty claim. Its only for your own better safe than sorry.Last edited by aargee; 03-29-2012, 03:26 PM.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
