Re: Honda CBR 250R
I'm not a fanboy bro. Let me tell you something, I have overlooked the CBR myself over something else. But still I would never say that CBR is less VFM. Ofcourse not every bike is perfect. Even I would tell of the horror stories some people have gone through with CBR and some general cons of the bike. But you seem to misinterpret things too easily. No one here is saying that Duke isn't as good as CBR. They are both good machines in their own right. I just wanted to tell that just because Duke is available at a lower price does not make the CBR less VFM(which is what you were saying all this time). Its still a great bike to own.Originally posted by DukeDey View Post2013 R15(Sold) | 2014 Duke 390 (Sold) | 2022 Adv 390 | 2022 Ninja 300

Re: Honda CBR 250R
But every one has to agree a fact that CBR is very very VFM product and its spares are pretty cheap when compared to 390. Coz Metzeler tires on 390 costs around 23K ( TWENTY THREE THOUSAND RUPEES ) and ll last for around 7-8K kms as they are soft compound. And if a CBR250R owner is spending that 23K on his bike, he ll get a new set of MRF or CONTI tires and new set side panels and new headlamp and he can get it fully serviced :P and still few more money ll be left with him to tank up and do some touring with smiles on his face

Get your facts right. Metzelers cost 11000 a [air at Bajaj Service Centre. MRF's cost 7000. I would prefer to be on Metz or MRF rather than the Conti's. Apart from the tres, spares of both the Dukes are pretty much in expensive.

Guys, if just my above post is causing so much hatred comparisons, please lets stop this. It is taking this thread somewhere.Originally posted by rockingrider View PostSorry. But what more can you expect out of quarter liter bike. I don't find anything non VFM in this. From the baseline torque to top end acceleration it is worth every penny spent. This is the only 250cc bike in India with least maintenance cost. Personal opinions. Not to start a war here. No offence!

I don't know much about the spare parts cost on a D390, but I have a pretty good idea about the costs on an R15, a CBR250R , and P220, having had all three all together at one time.Originally posted by chinmayakar View PostGet your facts right. As regards the Metzs, nobody has used them for a long enough duration in Indian conditions to say for sure how they will last. But for sure, if given the choice between the Metz, MRF Revz, and the Conti, the Conti would be the absolute last option regardless of how cheap they are.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hi,
My name is Raj Mano from Chennai and this is my first post in this forum. But i have been going through this thread for quite sometime and the result of all of doing it is attached below.
Cheers to Argee and Sai for their encouraging words and advice which really helped in making this choice. I now finally own this beautiful sedate beast and i am a proud owner of a quater litre HONDA CBR Std version.
DELIVERY & SHOWROOM EXPERIENCE:
a) A week back,I had selected few of the recommended dealerships to book my CBR in Chennai; Didar motors in Egmore, Mansarovar motors in Velachery and JSP motors in Anna Nagar. All three dealers had my color ready for delivery and i decided to pick it up from JSP Anna nagar, owing to closer proximity from home(<10kms :P).
b) The JSP sales representative did a decent job to allot my CBR but i had a small delay in getting my previous bike (R15 V2.0) exchanged through the Honda dealership. But i would say the whole process went hassle-free.
c) The finance process took less than a week and the sales representative arranged delivery yesterday, without plates as there was no chance i would allow any of the showroom guys ride my machine to the RTO. Mini PDI at the showroom and the vehicle was perfect except for a loose RVM screw. Overall, i feel JSP Honda has done a good job till date but i would not rate them completely unless all the paperwork post registration is completed.
The Virgin Ride:
a) First things first.... seats are heaven for my rear as i was used to the park bench on the R15 V2. Butter smooth gearshifts. Comfortable riding posture as compared to the R15. Neat dashboard with apt instrumentation. Voluminous tank (13L), you can feel it BIG and also begging to be smudged, scratched (Tank Pad needed ASAP). Overall, I just love the machine now.
b) Once i was on the move, i could feel the weight of the machine in super crowded Saturday night traffic. BUT surprisingly, maneuverability was decent in traffic as compared to the super flick-able R15. Also, made sure the machine was under 4k rpm throughout. Gave the cbr a nice pooja at the famous Muneeswaran temple near Central and had to shell out 250 bucks for a single bike pooja.
c) Now here comes the concern : Two minutes into riding in traffic, engine temperature is at 3 bars and i expect the radiator fan to kick in soon. Fan is happily sleeping even when the bars were fluctuating between 3 and 4 bars. I tried the engine kill switch in thick traffic to check if the fan was operational and fan is still in sleep mode. So,me and fellow buddy rider stopped at Marina beach to let the engine air-cool. The remaining ride back home was peaceful as bars stayed at 3 bars but the fan dint move an inch. As its just been a day, i feel the engine either dint require the fan to cool or there is a loose connection somewhere inside. Hence, planning for svc checkup soon.
And this is how my Saturday evening ended...
But i am only left with lots of excitement for all the journeys about to happen with my ceeber soon.. happy riding to all.
Cheers,
Raj

Congrats on the ride and many many happy miles on it. Get the radiator fan issue rectified first as it is much needed for our Singara Chennai's hectic traffic.Originally posted by Raj Mano View PostHi,

R15 do has uncomfortable riding position, but it's all about one getting use to. I am riding V1 from last 3 yrs+ and I am use to it's riding position.
But I do know the comfort of CBR or P220 or any other compare to R15.
People before buying R15 should understand the model/design and it's purpose. Still I say R15 is not for daily use.
Get your Fan checked ASAP. And don't worry about the bike heat / engine etc..If it gets over heated then surely will get switch off.
But get it check soon..

Congrats, move over a few pages back, i had the same problem, don't wait for first service get it fixed asap. For me the fan temp sensor socket was loose, the sensor is deep insdie the bike , below the air box or something, i have explained it in detail in the previous posts, have a read. It might also be the fan is kaput, get it throughly checked.
And the temp bar shouldn't get to 4 bars, the fan should start well within 3 bars itself after 2-3 min of leeching traffic pace.
Cheers

The fan issue sounds like a common flaw in the new batch of machines ! Will get it rectified on the day i get the bike registered, ie mostly tomorrow or the day after. And,i hope the svc guys dont require a full day for fixing this... :|
This is where Honda can strive to do better as they keep forgetting that its a premium product that is being sold to the seekers. There is PDI sticker on the brake fluid lid and it serves no purpose if there are small flaws as such in brand new machines. The radiator cooling fan is an important part in the machine and serves an important function and it is disheartening to know these parts have not undergone a basic functional check after installation.
Anyway, nothing is perfect and cribbing is of no use. Will keep things posted on fan fix-up and run-in period. Thanks buddy.
Cheers,
Raj

yeah, make sure you get it checked at a good svc with proper technicians. I was lucky to have proper technicians, they even went to the length of showing me the wiring diagram and the exact origin of the problem.Originally posted by Raj Mano View Posthey krishna...

But in my case it wasn't a defect, but a mere loose connection.
The possible reasons could be
1) Fan not working
2) Issue with temp sensor
3) Loose connection of the socket than powers the fan(which happened in my case)
So make sure they check properly and troubleshoot the problem in all possbile ways, it might take a full day as it involves removing the body panels and tank if it is the 3rd case, like the one that happened with mine.
Do keep us posted about the find.
Cheers

The third point you had mentioned however worries me a bit. I have ridden my ceeber at literally 8k+ rpm consistantly and it still doesn't heat up beyond 3 bars. Also fan runs at 3 bars so please get the contacts checked thoroughly as soon as possible lest it cause any everlasting damage to the engine.
Otherwise, enjoy your ride mate...
Cheers.
