Not a viable solution for all riders. Rather than leaving it covered with muck an replacing later, try cleaning it with toothpaste + toothbrush. Muck would fly away! Few fins would bend, they can be brought back into (almost correct) shape using the same brush/pin. This requires about 1 hour of patience and would save you from any heartache.

Thing is, traditionally, one would try and straightening the fins of the radiator with a steel pin or some such thing while carefully using a brush to clean out the muck stuck between the fins. Now the problem is that most of us don't really know how to be gentle enough while cleaning a radiator so we end up bending the fins and making a mess anyway. The mechanics at the service center can do a decent job but they need to be free and patient in order to do it... You can try giving it for a clean and lube up - tell them to especially clean up the radiators and sort its fins. I've even heard head mechanics tell me to just ignore as it makes no difference to heat management on the ceeber if muck is stuck on one part of the radiator... when I told him that I cant bear to see it, he said do what others do... Wait till you cant bare to see it and then get it replaced for 4000 bucks... One last option is to give it to those specialist radiator shops near Urvashi Theatre, Bangalore - they will remove the radiator... do a good job of cleaning and put it back (don't however complain about vibrations if any develop in this case)... .... So gauging all this... I decided to listen to my mech after all - use it, try maintaining it and cleaning it until most all fins are bent or damaged then get a new one replaced.

      Cheers mate.

Guys, I did the same procedure as Divya suggested but with a little bit of difference, i used a soft bristle brush and a slow speed torrent of water falling onto the radiator(not sprayed) and moved the brush in up and down strokes carefully, and all the dirt cleared out without bending any of the cooling fins. It worked out fine and was only a 15 min job. Now for a detialed cleaning up the method divya suggested is the best one.
And Divya, these frame sliders you said about, are they no cut types or cut types ?

So at your ASC they have charged u for 1.5 Liters.

What i do is, I pay the price of two bottles and take the ramining remaining 0.5 liter with me and i use it for topup if needed at times.

Thanks guys for clearing that up. I have informed my friend the same, i think that is the case they may be charging him for 2 lts of oil and he might be unaware of that.

Hope you are fine mate. What are the damages to the bike ? I hope nothing major.
And frame sliders are good, but costly too. I had looked up a few on the stores, R&G seems a good brand.

AFAIK, they're cut type and bolted on the existing frame mounts.

I was left with little bruises. The exhaust has taken all the impact. The exhaust guard and RHS handle bar has to be changed. All others are scratch removal and touch up works. Hope this plastic surgery will restore her early beauty.

Agree... everyone can afford a little time to do this oneself... in whichever way one finds fit, as far as there's no further damage to it. The worst I found is cowdung or sticky plastic on the hot radiators... both give a burning stink that feels like your rubber tubing is on fire. But many times as time passes and you tour around with the odo reading 30k plus, your radiator will get to a stage where its been hit by plenty of pebbles and what not causing harsher impact on the radiator even with all the cleaning and readjusting normally being done.

Another way of cleaning your CBR radiators would be to get hold of some non-electrical dentist tools (Including the head-lamp)... Like mentioned by Krish, soft thin bristle brushes work best. Strong spray of water only for cleaning parts of the underbelly and piping area of the bike... not the radiator.

My CBR is 2 months old and only 400kms done. From today itself what I have been observed is that Gear shifting is locking sometimes. Mainly Gear is not going to 1st from N sometimes. I have seen this issue on Pulsur but same on CBR ? Any ideas ?

It is because of initial wear and tear. After completing your first service you won't face that problem.

^^ 1st servicing is done 1 month ago. Actually the bike is rarely used in this rainy season. Mainly the problem comes to my notice in traffic while I turn off Engine by kill switch and again start the bike and shift to 1st gear from N.

Pretty normal. Ride a bit more. The engine needs some time to get warmed up enough and for the oil to circulate around and keep the internals lubed.
Practice the 30-45 sec idling rule before starting daily.

Okay. Will follow the 30 - 45 sec idling before running the machine. Actually I was thinking that if there was a Clutch plate issue or similar. Might be I'm wrong as I'm very new Motorcycling.

Any other tips to carry a smooth gear shifting ?

                          Hi guys,

After much thought and test driving a few bikes and opinions from this forum, I have finally decided to buy CBR 250R this Sunday (Sep 8, 2013) - (on top of the world feeling)....Please let me know what all I should check in a new bike before buying....I mean how to know if it has the latest manufacturing date, can I ask for a different set of tires (and if yes, which one) and other things I need to know/check.

I have spoken to about four dealers about cash discount...but don't want to get an older bike or cheaper tires in exchange of an extra 1000/- discount, so asking for help !!

                          Thanks in advance

+1 .. Booked a Red C-ABS. Immediate delivery available, but I want them to give me a bike with MRF tyres on the bike . So waiting for the delivery till they find one.

Test ride was good, got a good feel of the bike and to be honest felt at home with it somehow.

They say machines choose their masters, this one such case I presume and am getting dreams of zooming with her

Thanks to this wonderful thread which helped me a lot in choosing this bike..

Please do read the first page of this thread, there are a number of links by our member aargee who took time to accumulate a vast amount of knowledge from multiple sources and people and put it to a single post. You will find all your answers there. Even the answer to your question about manufacturing date.
Also read the owners manual thoroughly before operating the vehicle, there is a digital copy of the same in this thread.
