Hi there check out DSG`s online store they have got lots of tank pads there of Keity make, but R all in the range of 1k,but if U R ready to pay 500 then do not hesitate & buy Keity ones, believe me they R really good.

Those shifter socks - where did you get them? What material are they made of?
Shifter socks R available with Performance motors, check their site.[/QUOTE]

R15 tank pads from new colours really look cool.. Check it out. Especially the tank pad in New Racing Blue colour. Will cost around 700 bucks

From what I can make out, the vibes are not coming from the fairing. I can very clearly feel the vibrations only at my inner thighs - meaning that it's the tank which is vibrating harshly. The handlebars and footpegs do not show any signs of vibration. Maybe it's that plate which you are referring to?

      @Pruthviraj
So finally...will go in for a Keiti next month! This is what I had been using till date:

Buddy, was your tank removed in the recent past.? If it was, it could be that the mechanic hasn't fixed the rubber dampers or the washer or rubber bushes back properly.

      • Advice needed!

I am about to buy my CBR in a month or so and I have a question. I asked at two ASCs about the waiting period after booking. One says 15days and the other says 1.5-2 months. The problem is, the ASC(Prashankar Auto, JM Road, Pune) that said 15 days, didn't show a very keen response in selling the bike Also, there was a bike on display and on asking she said it was a customer's bike. Judging by the fact that they had kept an owner's bike on display, I doubt they would maintain the bike properly.
The other ASC(Yash Honda, Hadapsar, Pune) Was good at building a rapport. But I have read somewhere about a guy from bangalore saying that the 2013 produced C-ABS 250r is available within 15 days so I doubt Yash Honda would be selling a 2013 produced bike.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Also, I own a Honda Stunner as of now and there's an issue. I have given my bike to two ASCs in Pune, Yash Honda and B.U.Bhandari. B.U. Bhandari was Pathetic so I gave it to Yash honda. They were better but still horrible. I don't know a lot about the internals of a bike so I can't sit with them and watch what they do but I am pretty sure they replace anything and everything instead of fixing the existing part. I say so because they have replaced my clutch plate about 7 times now(25000kms on the odo) because the gears make sounds while shifting. They have charged a bomb each time I give it to them.
So I resort to other means by giving my bike to local mechanics and they do a good job.

My problem is, I don't want to give the CBR to a local mechanic because I don't trust him with a bike that has an ECU and would probably be more complex to fix if something goes wrong. And I can only imagine what the ASC would charge. What do I do? Anyone from Pune care to shed some light?

I'm not from Pune, but I've asked about the waiting period for the 2013 model here in Chennai at JSP. They have said that it will take around 1~2 months till the next batch(2013 model) arrives at their showroom. The ASCs of the Honda are always a big pain, my advice would be to build a good rapport with your ASC and make sure that they take some extra care for your bike. Getting to know people at the ASC is one good way to ensure that your ride gets serviced properly. We really don't have a choice. I for one would not give a bike like the CBR 250R to a local mechanic, because none of them has enough knowledge to handle these machines, atleast in my locality that is.

Alright. The service isn't as big of an issue as getting a 2012 made model is. I know here aren't any significant changes but it's always better to have a new model. Any idea how to know whether the bike is 2013 built before they get it delivered? I have read aargee's post and will find the build once they have the motorcycle but by then it'd be too late.

I don't think the 2013 model has anything new compared to 2012. Its pretty much the same as 2012, just that some of the minor issues have been fixed not sure what they've fixed though. Some new colors were expected, but we haven't got them yet. If the waiting period is atleast a month or so, chances are that it probably is the 2013 model.

Why would I remove the tank for a 2-month old bike? No sir, it wasn't removed or touched. And I noticed a creaking niose coming from somewhere inside the fairing - near the forks/radiator - but neither fairing, handlebars or footpegs are not vibrating, it's only felt at the base of the tank.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

I went through similar dilemma. For me, knowing too much hurts in forest (that is why some shoot whatever moves). Just talk to the manger and express your need. If they say it is 2013 model, you hope that they will give you that. The 2013 colors till now follows old pattern only (see my old posts - inventory of many key parts might be there in factory itself or they are still not producing new color - we don't know. So old color may not mean that no 2013 improvements if any is not present in that and also new color doesn't men that new improvements are are in it. Improvement is a continuous process and not a discrete one always, having said that you can't wait indefinitely for a perfect machine ). Regardless of any technicality, it looks like whatever ASC gets/buys now from Honda in 2013, they say it is 2013 model (it is already end of March) and gets registered in RC smart card as 2013 model, unless you buy specifically 2012 model for any specific reason. All the best.

I do have a honda ASC in my place davangere but the reason i didn't book the vehicle here is the waiting time was more than a month and i was not ready to wait so long so i just booked it in bangalore and also the mechanics here at honda ASC are not so well aware of this machine so i am thinking of getting my first service at Hubli (120 kms from my place)

I recommend Rohan Honda. Tele: 09890045656, 020 2714 3000, 020 2714 6565 I bought my 2012 model from him. He himself owns a CBR 1000 so is quite seized about the issues involving sales and ASS. The workshop manager is especially cooperative.

Underpinning this is the equation that one builds with the ASC. I am on excellent terms with Dharti and Punjab Honda in Rajkot and Rohan in Pune. A few compliments, a few suggestions revealing your knowledge but not flaunting it, frequent calls to just say "hi, kya ho raha hai" etc work wonders. The ASC has human staff, not machines and if there is one human trait I have learned, it is that every human is decent in return if one is decent first. Yes, one must not be taken for a ride (pun unintended) but at the same time, anger and name-calling too is counterproductive.

Many times, the service boys are untrained rustics. Unintentionally, they appear rude and brusque. If one is calm and behaves in an avuncular manner, the changes are dramatic. "Please, thanks, good job done, excellent" are still relevant words even today :-)

Try Rohan, he is definitely better than the arrogant Pashankar and listless B U Bhandari.

@theironhorse99: I think u missed my point bro! The thing is, I do not get any kind of rattling, only a strong vibration at the tank (not at the footpegs/handlebars) - and a strange, but faint sound that goes kich-kich-squeak-squeak in tandem with the front fork movement.
