Are these frame sliders so strong and rigid that won't let us down in time of crash ?? or it's only for small fall ? or standing fall ??Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Postcontact sudeepbnr. he got me 4 set of sliders.

what cost is it ?? does it gets fits to all fairing bike ?

Went to the ASC (City Honda) on Friday. They didn't have a replacement chain slider - so they called up some other dealers and confirmed that Silicon Honda had spare sliders available and suggested me to visit them. Anyways I was getting late for a meeting and didn't have time to visit Silicon - so asked the person to do some jugaad arrangement. He fixed the slider with a ziptie (the ones used to fasten plastic bags at supermarkets) and some fevikwik.Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Postthere is no screw in the slider and its just rubber ribbits that fits in.. once they are broken then you will have to get a new one. it costs rs 120.
i have got this replaced thrice by now in 12,000 km is last 8 months.. however if the bottom portion is broken then do some DIY and fix it as that
part never gets in touch with the chain. so clean the surface with kerosene to remove oil etc and stick is back with fevi-quick or something. not a big deal.
and it sounds horrible once broken... few places honda could have certainly done better.
When I asked him about the durability of this jugaad, he said it was good for a thousand km or maybe slightly less and suggested me to replace it. He lubed my chain as well and the entire service was done in 10 mins without any charges.

I had a minor low-speed fall a couple of weeks ago - and I was surprised to note that there was no impact on the fairing whatsoever. The mirrors and the exhaust shield took the impact and the exhaust shield was badly scratched - that sets me thinking - do we need frame sliders at all? most of the fairing doesn't come into contact with the ground after minor falls - the only situation where I can foresee a broken fairing is during a collision and I'm sure a frame slider can't offer ANY protection during a collision. Not sure what will be the impact during a high-speed sliding fall though.Originally posted by somen1984 View PostAre these frame sliders so strong and rigid that won't let us down in time of crash ?? or it's only for small fall ? or standing fall ??

Initially I was hell-bent on buying myself a set of frame sliders but now I don't see any use for them.Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

these are damn strong and sturdy and as good as the imported ones. can say if they are better as havent used yoshi or r&g ones..Originally posted by somen1984 View PostAre these frame sliders so strong and rigid that won't let us down in time of crash ?? or it's only for small fall ? or standing fall ??

i believe for 1500 bucks they are worth every penny. and they will be able to take big falls too.. touch wood i dont want to fall though
also to mention if the bike falls with the handle bar twisted then the fairing takes a toll else you'd end up with a bent clip on..
for 1500 it comes down to 750 for each side. in case of a fall if you end up replacing 2-3 parts of one side. including labour it will come down to 2k or more
so for 750 i believe its a good deal.
and actually they look cool

Dear gentlemen on tigers,
Last couple of rides, following happened 2-3 times.
When I downshift, I hear tak-tak-tak-tak clunk noise from gearbox. It was mainly while shifting to first from say third or fourth. After hearing the clunk, the shift didn't happen and very next try it works and everything is fine. Slow speed shifts to first was not an issue.
I never experienced this with senior and before. May be a Honda signature?. Does it happen to you?. Thanks.

while upshifting we can shift even with half clutch or without clutch of we are quick however while downshifting
the engine revs more and hence engine braking comes into play and you are moving from a slower moving bigger gear to a faster moving shorter gear in layman terms.
try pulling the clutch all the way and then shift unless you get to hear the perfect click of gear engagement.
also get the clutch free play checked and this sometimes happen if the gear shifter is not at the optimal position.
try and see if still an issue then might be something to do with the engine internals but why not try and isolate the issue

Don't know but I feel by looking that these can be of no help. Could have been better if anyone had a fall with slider and just because of sliders fairing was saved.Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Postthese are damn strong and sturdy and as good as the imported ones. can say if they are better as havent used yoshi or r&g ones..

after fixing them i have literally made the bike sleep on one side to check the clearance and figured out ample space to protect the fairing, footrest , gear shifter and the either side of headlight assembly. as these were custom made specifically for the CBR they give good protection. though i am not up for testing em...Originally posted by somen1984 View PostThanks.

I have those sliders on my CBR, happened to drop the bike at around 15kmph on the left. There was not even a single scratch anywhere on the bike except the rear footpeg. However, the slider got bent at the base, attached is the pic.Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Postafter fixing them i have literally made the bike sleep on one side to check the clearance and figured out ample space to protect the fairing, footrest , gear shifter and the either side of headlight assembly. as these were custom made specifically for the CBR they give good protection. though i am not up for testing em...

straighten it and put it back.. you just saved 2k... if not the best it will still do the job..Originally posted by TeeJayy View PostI have those sliders on my CBR, happened to drop the bike at around 15kmph on the left. and its good that the plate got bent rather than the frame taking the hit.."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Thanks, going to do exactly the same; not sure if it would be as strong as before though.Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Poststraighten it and put it back.. you just saved 2k... if not the best it will still do the job..

N over and above the monetary aspect of 2k, the mental trauma of taking the bike to the SVC just for this, availability of parts, etc. is also done away with.

thats the most painful part.. my ride was parked with no work done for 10 days in the svc hold as they cudnt get the (purple ) part of the left side headlight assembly.Originally posted by TeeJayy View PostThanks, going to do exactly the same; not sure if it would be as strong as before though.

so some real nasty ill mannered kid fondled with the ride and dropped it in the parking and i was happily sipping my beer one weekend afternoon.. that too to a 5 day old machine..
the purple part had to be shipped from gurgaon as they dint had any in whole of hyd.. .now i fear of same having a tri-colour as 2013 tri colour wont be coming anymore...
regarding the bent plate.. check with the iron guys who does the shutter works.. am sure they'd be able to heat it and again make it straight..
it will still save.... atleast the leg if not the fairing... parts can always be replaced...
save the leg for life long gear shifting

How can the frame slider save the leg?
EDIT: I can think of one scenario where the leg would get stuck under the bike, if not for the slider. Any more cases?
