Ha! That stripe reminds me only Apaches! BTW these vinyls are not "textured" - these are simple printed ones. The textured ones have a matte finish and are priced slightly higher.
I had enough of these local stuff. Going for the 3M ones soon.
exactly.. the local ones are printed and not actual textured..also cannot be moulded. with 3m you can actually feel the texture and gives a carbon fibre feel. also
there are 3-4 types of texture available.. please check and get which you like.. here is the deal if you are unable to find 3M CF from bangalore.. there is this guy from vizag
selling A4 size sheets 2 x A4 for 250rs over EBAY.IN.. thats the last resort but still better than not having anything..

Has anyone tried taking off the visor only. I used the CF to cover the scratches on my visor but some assholes even picked it from edges. Planning to get the visor off and then get it smoked. Even the mech said its not possible. The whole front fairing has to come off. Has anyone tried it?
you cannot take the visor out. i wanted to get it smoked too but the hassle was too much and also after knowing the EXPERTISE i did not wanted to take a chance of completely opening the fairing and getting it fit. i am sure they wont get the factory fit again and my ears arent ready yet for new sounds

to get the visor out.. you gotta first take the side fairing out then the complete front and then remove the Headlight assembly and meter console and then you'd be able to get the last 4 screws of the visor...

basically it needs a complete stripdown of the front.. so unless it broken or unbearable.. stick with the stock

      brake pads ....
imagine they dont stock DOT 4 . .when i asked what to do when an ABS model will need dot 4 .. they state..
sir we dint get any vehicle yet for brake fuild refill so we dont keep it..

This is really not acceptable! This is crap from Honda side. Though I can understand the scarcity of tricolors.
Mostly any SVC don't keep any stuff which are not regularly used or not used in one month of time.
This drops the sales of that particular product and hold back the profit in it.

So this problem comes in. But some where Honda should mandate these stuffs so they keep all this at least in number of some small quantity.
This is really a problem with limited edition choices or rare color ones.

Lets see when these gets sorted out.

Btw, some DIY on the bike : The stripes extends till the fuel tank. Found some sticker shop having Carbon fibre textured stickers for 100 bucks (1ft*2ft).. And yes, that shell sticker is a patch up

Up next, some useful functional mods, let me browse the thread

Why not some better self made or graphic made CBR sticker(use some creativity) personally din't like this Shell sticker at all, looks cheap. Though it's an individual choice.
Id I remember there was a person in these thread who had made a customised sticker for his CBR with "CBR" letter.

Really that stripe makes me think was I looking at Apache !!

I thought the visors are more accessible than that! In that case, how are these touring windscreens from Puig marketed as plug-and-play?

It really is a crap. Atleast the visor should have been removed by the four screws at the top of instrument cluster. What has Honda done, a premium bike, shitty tyres, lack of spares and now this...literally I am thinking of selling this off and getting back ZMA again. I was pretty happy then.

Frustration won't give you any good/peace.

It's better to flow with the current than against it.

Can this fairing be opened via regular tools?? Because I have seen YAMAHA SVC using a motor driven spanner to open R15 fairing.
If it can be open by regular tools then you should do it by your self. I don't think this would cost any lose bolts here and there, as we are doing it self, so more precaution etc.

The fairing is openable using regular tools, but it's too much of a pain taking it apart layer-by-layer and putting it together back again. Extremely time consuming as well. As long as someone isn't hell-bent on modding their bike, it's better to let the fairing be as it is.

these certainly cannot be plug and play.. if they claim so then they will have to sit over the stock screen and not a replacement..

if you notice the markings you can easily identify what all places the screen is getting connected.
on either sides.. the RVM nuts and below the HL assembly... so that clarifies that the meter console and the headlight assembly needs to be open
to access those the side fairings needs to be taken out.. again.. almost stripping her to bare... though its fun to watch the internals.. ahem ahem

I certainly wouldn't do it myself, though I'd really like a touring screen!

I am beginning to feel frustrated of using the CBR as a daily commuter...don't get me wrong, I am not complaining of the bike. But I barely get to cross 40kph / 3rd gear and feel like I'd have been better off with a 100 or a 125. Anybody else here with similar feelings?

                  • cbr fairing can be opened by a 4 or 5mm allen key..but the tricky part is dere r 1 or 2 plastic locks have to be carefull when taking the fairing off or putting it back..nd yes honda made a mistake by keeping the front visor screws inside ..but i think its a design aspect to give the front a cleaner look ..as the visor dont save stays at sides(see the red markings in d pics) so the bolts (on the visor stays)are kept inside to make it stay firml and clean(well my guess :P )..

                    • hehe.. what to say for riding a 250 in cities like mum, delhi, hyd , bangaluru... however for me its bliss.. my office timings are morning 8-5 and to-n-fro.. roads are clean and ride on an average of 60-70 and blast it till 120's ... bliss...!!!

thats why i stated long back.. 250 is more than apt for india.. buying a 600/1000 is more like driving a ferrari to a vegetable market..
and the highways too arent that good to put a machine above 250-300 to use..

a 250 can never be a commuter in india.. not now not later..with ever growing population and 1000's new vehicles added on road each day.. a 100 cc is what makes sense for pure commuting.. thats why i still get back to activa.. on days i am irritated with traffic and the bullet is in dust...

Exactly..I barely get to use 4th gear and it's got to do more with the fear of others coming and scraping the bike someplace, knowing how Bangalore people ride. I prefer my NS and vespa over this for city traffic

But, yeah, I know the shell sticker looks out of place, it was a temporary quick fix as I had run out of stickers. Will do something about it this weekend. Or maybe just opt for the 3M instead. Working on the radiator guard now

Well I don't know much on the visor. But, I have a observation. In the new one, when I saw several scratches, the dealer said, he shall replace it and it is easy. They replaced it on delivery. So it may be easy because they were talking me out of any changes involving more than 30 minute work

                          CBR as daily commuter:
                          1. Well what can I say!. I am using junior (CBR) to commute daily 36Kms in Bengaluru. I have been using Senior (Fiero) and Scooty pep+ before. When junior dramatically plunges into pot holed roads here and labors up ill designed speed breakers there, because of the suspension setting I have to always come down to 1st gear before negotiating these. May be stiffer suspension setting is needed for me so that the bobbing is reduced and I can still be in 2nd gear. Shall try stiffer setting and see if I could reduce some more gear shifts (means increasing the probability of riding at higher gears for comparatively more time).

                          2. To ease compressed mind, I just maintain 3.5 rpm at 3rd gear and cruise slowly, the moment I rev up, I need to go to 4th. Thus I avoid it.
                          3. Also a lesser fuel load helps me to be at right RPM/speed combo at 4th gear also.

                          4. My bag with lap top, lunch, snack and good luck sits nicely stuck between my back and rear seat partition, a plus. Just ride your elephant, majestically .

                          5. Yes, if it is only a "commute", best is a scooter, ideally Scooty pep+. If it is a "savari", we need an elephant. It is shown long ago. See, Lord Ganesha uses Mushikasura for commute, while king Devendra uses Airavata for Savari (this is the analogy I gave to wife when asked why physically small people need big bikes ). Basically, do kings “commute”?
                          5. I shall try to do item 1, 2 and 3 more and look forward to slowly easing the tantrums of this elephant.

                          Yours

That's what I am beginning to feel. It's perfect for people who get highways on their commute (or atleast a good mix of highways+city). But for a person commuting purely through bumper-to-bumper traffic, all those horsepower and top speed figures seem pointless!

Aaaaahhh....3 more days to go till Sunday - and some open roads! I have to hold on!
