there is no screw in the slider and its just rubber ribbits that fits in.. once they are broken then you will have to get a new one. it costs rs 120.

i have got this replaced thrice by now in 12,000 km is last 8 months.. however if the bottom portion is broken then do some DIY and fix it as that
part never gets in touch with the chain. so clean the surface with kerosene to remove oil etc and stick is back with fevi-quick or something. not a big deal.
and it sounds horrible once broken... few places honda could have certainly done better.

I usually do 29(front) and 33 rear. But if you are planning on for a long highway trip alone(without pillion), I would say 29psi for both the tyres.

        • Hi All,

This is my first post on XBHP and I am feeling very great to be part of this community. I have been following this thread for some time and mind you its a great treasure for all the motorcycle enthusiasts.

I have a question for all the CBR owners. Today I had been to Rohan Honda to book a CBR250r ABS. I was very excited since after almost year's wait I was going to book my smaller dream . But all my dreams were put on hold when I came to know that CBR250r ABS has been out of stock for some time and there is no definite waiting period even if I book one.

Although the standard version is very much available and a Black CBR was readily available. Folks please help me verify if there is really a supply crunch for the ABS model across Maharashtra or it's just a Sales gimmick. Your views will be appreciated since I wanted to but ABS model only but now I am confused.

          • The last of the 2012 produced inventory must have been sold out by now as Honda is to be preparing dispatch of 2013 colours which will hit showrooms sometime in the next few months(No assurance but its just word of mouth for now). You can either wait for the new colors if you want the ABS really bad or else you can opt for the Std Black that's available. The choice is yours.

              Great choice bro.

And about the waiting period. I got my bike 1 month back and I wanted the 2013 model(new colour) and ABS of course. They said the same thing no definite waiting period and all the 2012 inventory were sold out. but i got my bike just in 3 weeks time, but with old colours. The sales person told me that as of now Honda is rolling out the old colours for 2013 also and there is no definite decision to make the new colours available for India.

So i would suggest to book the ABS version only(believe me it is worth the money) and wait for it even if it takes a little longer. I guess the lack of stock the sales person said was to push the remaining bikes he has.

              Just wait for it.

You have come this far to get your dream, wait for some more time.

Welcome!. It is indeed good community. Hope you read seminal posts from RG.
I had similar question (see post 10993 and replies)
Though I am not from Pune, some dealers still may have ABS model available. Couple of major dealers I checked here in Bangalore last month still had old colors. That may mean that Honda is still having inventory Or new colors are not rolled out yet.
I got a Black ABS model in old colors (Feb 22). For me that old color combo looks better than all black.
Just call other dealers and ask, if they have ABS you can decide on it if old color is OK for you. I won't be surprised if you find a dealer with ABS. Looks like, ABS model is not that much stocked compared to non ABS model here.
One more point, if you like new color, you could ask when it will be available by emailing to Honda. They are very responsive, excellent customer service, why?, I have a story to share (after that I felt really like a customer for once in life!), which I will send sometime later today - after my ride!!!

                • The 2013 version of the CBR still carries over the same colors, I've booked mine, and since there was no stock, they are getting new stock from the factory. But I've been told it'll have the same colors as before, inspite of it being the 2013 model

                      • Honda to resue - good customer support

                        Hi,
                        Back from the ride!.
Today, wanted to highlight a silver lining in the cloudy customer service in our land.
Even after advice from members here to demand a replacement of fin damaged (say about 50%) radiator, you know that I bought without replacing it (sensible D.K boy!).

After riding it for a week, found that the radiator fan turns on and runs on battery whenever I stop (I use engine kill off and then turn it on) which is normal for CBR (others also confirmed it).
However, I closely inspected the fins and realized that as most of the fins are bent, it may be an issue for air circulation/heat dissipation in the long run as bent fins close with dirt sooner. Since this worm got in, I just wanted an opinion from Honda if it is OK.

I sent an email saying that, I have a new Honda CBR250RAC ABS model and also have an extended warranty. I also attached picture of the radiator and asked them if it is OK on a new Honda or an issue.

I sent email in the morning and my phone started ringing in the evening ride back home. I ignored those missed calls at home thinking it is a spam.
Next day morning, I got a call from ASC asking why I mailed Honda customer care!!. I told them that, I wanted Honda to confirm if all is well.

I was told to come on Monday, where they will explain me. I told them, no more talking out of the issue will help and I will come only if they could resolve the issue. Then, I was told to come immediately. I was there in the shop, this time with all my riding gears and DSG Nero which is bit over sized even for "S" , making me a bigger animal in the forest, our land!.
I kept my cool, told the manager how reasonable I was and also how I didn’t bother minor scratches etc while taking delivery. Soon after this chat showed him the issue and he asked me was it like this when I got the delivery? (man!). To that I told him that I am not surprised to hear this and to that affect have the HD still capture on my Droid with witness . Manager was convinced when I told him whether he would take such a machine. Later service manager came and told it is OK. But manager soon realized that I need an engineering answer that it is OK, which Honda can only give. Immediately they told me that it might have happened while cleaning etc and agreed to change. There was no bad blood, everything handled in right spirits. I was told to leave the bike there and collect in the evening. There goes waste a glorious Bangalore afternoon without the junior tiger! (why it is junior, I shall explain it in next post).

Basically, Honda did listen to customer and things are rectified. I am pleased to be a customer that way!.

                        Yours

Thanks a lot Nithesh. Initially I had a thought of changing my mind and getting the STD model which was standing in front of me. But I have made up my mind and decided to wait for the ABS model.

I checked with other dealers too. Even they had the same story. Incidentally Standard Black models are readily available but there is no confirmation an either the ABS model or the tri-color. One of the dealers had a Red color ABS model but which they later confirmed was sold out. Can you please share the e-mail id of Customer care? I will see if something works out.

Frame sliders - IMHO, depends upon the rider personality.
I am very specific about one part - there should be no drag on particular side on a motorcycle. I should be able to ride with hands off the handle bar on a motorcycle (speed depends on skill level) for some distance (not that I do this always – just testing once in a blue moon after any major mod to see if motorcycle self balance is intact).
Long time ago, I had a minor crash with a tightly fixed guard!. This could have propagated whole impact to the frame.
After that I was unable to ride with my hands off the handle bar (nobody was able to rectify this for a long time). It was dragging to one side (note that for normal riding it is not an issue at all, without any feel of drag, only hands off the handle bar is the issue - but this niggle would remain in my mind like a nasty worm).
I believe that most of the repair shops in our land won't be able to remove a frame bend to perfection. So, we may have to sell this bike after such an incident with this caveat.
From that point onwards, I was telling my friends to fix the guard weakly to the frame (then what’s the use?). Anyway guard mount points are weak and crumble minimizing the impact propagation to frame though.
Most of the minor crashes don't lead to any frame issues (mostly fork issues on front impact - easy to fix). So, my hypothesis is that as most sliders may concentrate and propagate energy to frame, so probability of frame issue for even a minor crash may happen. Of course, there may be now new technology sliders which may dissipate energy to multiple points, but I don’t know if we can get that and fit it here!.
Frame sliders may be needed in west, as spares and labor is an issue there.
For CBR250R in our land though, I would pay for the fairing and other minor damage other than installing a slider.

Back after a spirited ride on NICE road – with that junior tiger break–in has happened
