As soon as we buy bike we tend to see the power and performance of the bike, which makes riders go beyond the manual procedures.

It's purely on ones heart and mind what he follows.

Even I used my R15 right from start with short burst of higher rpms, and still I am on my stock clutch plates and no engine issues.
It's almost close to 3yrs with 28K I do often tours etc... getting an average of 40 min to 46-47kmpl as per riding, no issues at all.

So no way to debate to prove who is right or wrong! Just listen to your mind over heart in this content.

Mind one thing if anyone is ready to follow path other than manual than "He should be ready for ups and downs" if needed.
Each bike is differnt, each ride is diferent ,behaviour of combination of rider and machine is different. The real world conditions it faces is different and so on..in essence comparing with an idal case theory can always give rise to controversies.
Owners are the one to dexide how to go ahead with the run-in ,strict/progressive/motoman. All w can do is give suggestions based on our experience and leave the choice to owners.

Very true... But one should be ready for the other side of coin too...

      • Hi,
I am seeing that coolant level is showing at lower mark when bike is on stand (tilted). So, I assumed that it will be above lower mark when bike is upright and moved on.
Yesterday when it was checked with bike upright, the coolant was far above the upper mark (top level was not visible). I assume that it is above upper mark and even above the watch window to see the real level. Could you please tell me the level on your machines Or is higher level than upper level is an issue to be concerned? Thanks.

It's advisable to unscrew the radiator cap (Only when the engine is cool and the bike is upright) and check the fluid level. The only issue arises when coolant levels fall below normal - in that case, you can topup at the ASC. You can know if something is wrong with the cooling system if your engine temp goes anything above 3 temp bars and if it does, it can indicate any of the following issues:
          a. Radiator Fan not working
          b. Radiator fluid low
          c. Problem with circulation of fluid
          d. Bent or clogged fins leading to poor heat dissipation

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

          • 4 pages of discussion on the Run-in procedure despite the fact that the manual has mentioned what to do and what not to do for the bike aswell as including two long posts of everything you need to know about the CBR ownership (well almost everything) by Aargee on this thread.

Someone from Pune, please confirm a good service center for the bike as i don`t want any issues after servicing the bike.

Try getting in touch mr shivanand from kothari wheels or mr ravi Singh from rohan honda.

Exactly what I was thinking! I mean, I can understand discussing something that is uncharted, unseen, never written about etc, but after having proper manuals, some guys get so much deep into details that even the poor guys who made the product might not have thought about it. Wanna see what I mean? Check out the 'Engine Oils' forum. Its insane man! I cant stop chuckling😜😜

If the maunual is the bible then why come here for issues or facts that's available in the manual? I guess to get a second opinion or a more real world relevent to their environment opinion and that's whats going here and many other forums in the internet.

And regarding the engine oil thread. It's really great stuff they are doing there..things we won'r ever dare to do and they are giving results. That's how things are done when experimenting and they are leaeninga lot from that and above that sharing it. Isn't that great stuff ?

                    Cheers

Ha ha no offence krishh, you didnt get what i said. See, experimenting/Mods etc is a different world and I cant comment on that. To each his own bike after all. I mean, I cant stop anyone from, say, using crude oil in his bike. If he's having fun, great. A manual cant possibly cover all user experiences and real world senarios. So problems being discussed is what a forum is all about. But taking things to a molecular level is a bit too much I think. People new to biking/ noobs get all freaked out and tensed man! I'll forward you pm's i get from some people and you'll get freaked out at how confused they get, as if they were not confused already. Most bikers take products at their face value and have very peaceful biking lives. Believe me.

                          • Got mine a month back from Haiku Honda, Domlur Bangalore. Waiting period was just 20 days.
Clocked around 1760kms on the ODO.
Changed the oil to fully synthetic.
                            Mileage averaged about 32 kmpl.
Top speed 141kmph(indicated with a pillion).

Is FS company recommended? or you changed it by yourself ?
                              It was only 1760kms !!!

isn't it's too early to hit 141kmph ?? and changing oil to FS ?

I was planning on using the normal Honda grade oil. But the service engineer and some of my friends told me to go with FS since i'm planning for long trips. And about hitting 141; I was very strict about running in. The speed was achieved only after 1100kms. Never before that i took my bike above 5k rpm.
