  • Vinyl Strip for CBR 250

    Thanks for the info .
I would really appreciate a little more DIY on the vinyl strip fixing.
Is there a thread or online link where i could get a better understanding of the topic before trying my hands?
Also where in bangalore can we find it in bangalore?
Has anyone from bangalore fixed this on his CBR?

    Thanks in advance.

There is nothing DIY about vinyl strips. It is a sticker. You cut it in desired shape, peel off and paste.

I have no idea where you can get it in Bangalore.

In one case in Pune, we got the service centre to give replacement radiator as the bike was only 15 days old. Since they were unable to fork out 26k cost of radiator, a compromise was reached wherein the owner made insurance claim. Service centre paid difference of claim recd. / cost of radiator + amt. of no claim bonus which the owner would loose next year + amt. of loading that would be added to own damage premium next year- by way of credit note. The owner can avail of service, spares etc. of that amount.

        2. The white marks on black plastic is mostly wrong grade of wax used. I did it once on my ninja. It takes a lot of time to come out and only time is the cure.
Thanks alot for the precise info buddy,i'll speak to the service center regarding this radiator issue.
I did use turtle wax super hard shell

i made sure to keep it away from the black plastics, but still the stains
can alcohol/petrol be used to clean them?

Trust me, I wish I'd waited for some more time; when I took, I, neither got the color I wanted nor the ABS. They actually pushed a RED STD to me & since I was running out of patience, I accepted. I would've rocked today on SH16 had I opted for C-ABS. Several times I'd slipped due to slush.

What's your suggestion Ji? Turtle or Vista or anything else?

Tks for the info on bent radiator fins; now I'll give it with confidence to ASC & tell them before hand about the bent fins & ask them to replace if they bend it

I'm sure ASC is going to have tough time washing my C250R

I always used to park my bike in wide space to avoid idiots from spilling their bikes on mine,it was the same today but some retard in our hospital parking just proved my this idea wrong(may be he was trying to squeeze in that space).
Leftside Footpegs,Bar-ends,RVM,Indicators,Grabrails have got scratches, magically left fairing escaped the damage but that idiot probably used the rightside middle cowl to lift the bike and its now loose( and i suspect its making a rattling sound at >8000rpm)

No hopes from the service centre in mangalore its totally useless-
                1) They bent 50% radiator fins during the wash, even after i instructed them not to use high pressure on the fins and upper body,still....
                2) Used some cheap detergent which left the black plastics white
                3) I don't know what they do with the clutch everytime,it was very loose after the service and bike used to stall without even a jerk.I asked them to fix it,i dunno that what those idiots did,now it runs itself without even touching the throttle at 8kmph(rpm is still around 1.5k) .

I think i need to work it out myself. can anyone tell me if it is the clutch freeplay or the throttle freeplay that needs to be adjusted?

I complained about the bent fins, they are saying its normal(i know its not) now how do i get it fixed?(someone spoke about AC repair centres)

And fairing rattle,I'm planning to open the cowls and place that thick double sided tape.Has anyone here done it before?
The Manager is a bit too friendly with the CBR dudes. Go talk to him and explain how things should be Done. Because i always wondered if these jackasses know what theyre doing and was thinking if this is the right thing to do i.e. buy the CBR here.
Remember my last post about servicing CBR in Mlore?

                • ya remember your post.....CBR cowls being mishandled.
Spoke to the manager, tomorrow im gonna resend it.He said he will get the radiator repaired with screwdrivers.

and 2 more things i discovered today-
                  1) clutch lever is very slightly bent.
                  2) fairing/dashboard rattles at higher rpms.

looking forward to any ideas to resolve them.

                  • Stomp Grip

                    Hi All,

Has anyone installed stomp grip on their CBR?
I checked the site (Stomp Design Online | HONDA) but they don't have a grip for CBR250 and so I might have to go for universal kit .
Anyone else having more information in this area please guide.

                    Thanks in advance.

I dont have any experience on riding ABS bikes but i suspect that ABC will help much on slush/loose gravel reason is tyre tend to loose grip even if they are spinning . like even a single tap on rear brake made my bike fishtale in a slush so i dont think there is much chance even if u've ABS unless you opt for better tyres
Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

                      • ^^^ Its upto one's choice to opt or opt out for ABS; tires play a significant role true, but imagine, high speed pushed out of the road to gravel; you'll need to reduce the balance to stay in control as well as brake without slipping; you can eliminate the brake part with ABS. That's my point!!!

Do not use alcohol/petrol. They should be used for intended purpose

In my experience (from the mistakes I made), Wax should only be used on shiny surfaces. For all non shiny plastics, you should use the wax which comes in liquid form. I don't know name/brand but this is the one which your service centre would stock in litres. It is very cheap. You just need to apply and it shines. No rubbing, polishing etc. involved. This is also used by washing centre guys.

Actually, if the washing guy knows how to wash a bike with radiator, it is not very difficult. Simple hose wash is what is required at the most.

The muck on my radiator is too much (but only about 10-15% of the area); I'll show some of the roads that I took & leave the imagination to you as how much of dirt is on my radiator.

                            • So my fuel gauge was on the last bar since last night and it kept blinking all day today. I rode for around 30 kms and still my bike only took 9.42 ltrs!

So my bike could have run another 100 kms before completely running out of petrol :S. And with 9.42 it should give me atleast 282 kms (considering mileage of 30 kmpl). Lets see how far it goes

                              • @Chicmagnet - Yes, I'd agree with you. The damn bike is warning too early; probably for those lazy bums who keep pushing to the end. Till date, I haven't starved beyond 295 Kms & after that one incident, I ensure to top up even before 200 Kms on the highway.
