Bad news guys!! em gonna have to leave my baby CB alone for a lonnnng lonnnng time!!! Em feeling terrible!!!!
Thinking of selling it but somehow when i see her, i change my verdict!!

I am gonna go away to Manipal University, Karnataka now and my CBR stays home alone in Cuttack,Orissa....
As far as i cud find out, seniors say that Manipal has an off-campus parking lot with adequate security..the only prob is the never ending rain!!
I have three options now:
1.Sell it for 1.3 lacs
2. bribe the SVC guys and the cbr mecho with a 500-1000 note and ask him to keep visiting my residence and update my CBR on weekly basis(my home isint far from the SVC)
3. take my CBR along with me (a saddlesore to be precise)
but as far i think...Manipal is a hill station and therz this never ending rainfall...apart from that, its so close to the arabian sea!! so rusting will start off even before i start studying....

Nearby guys please comment on the issue...i just have 4 days to decide the fate of my sweetheart.
if u suggest me to take it..its done and done!!
if u suggest me to keep it...also done and done!!
if u suggest me to sell it, well i am gonna have a heavy heart..i really love my CBR!!
will it be any problem if it is ridden for 10-20 days and then stored without use for nearly 3 months at a stretch..??
help me guys!!!

Sure, tank pad is no big deal. Infact, I'm planning to buy 3-4 of them to help few guys out here. I'll be going once again probably by next weekend or so. I'll certainly keep posted.Originally posted by kurtrules View Postdesperately looking for a tank pad which is broad at the tail end

I'm going to post a very informative post on C250R next...so hold your breath.
So, this is how a C250R's oil filter for US spec looks like...

Honda C250R in US - Part 1 - A word on quality
Had been to a local motorcycle store Grayboy & he's a Honda, Kawasaki & Harley Davidson dealer. And I spotted the Ninja 250R as well as the CBR 250R. Many people here were cribbing about welding joints & stuffs on CBR250R & I'd be glad if this post & pics can keep them off cribbing further. Since I own a C250R (made in India) & witnessing a C250R (made in Thailand), hope my comparison really makes sense.
Here're some pics of the C250R available in US with made in Thailand quality.
Then there was a N250R too & the quality of it was pretty same as that of C250R too. So from what I see, the quality of C250R available in India is pretty much the same as what I saw here in US. Either that's the way Honda makes the product OR things have been exaggerated to put down C250R for some reason.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Honda C250R in US - Part 2 - One world, one attitude
Honda advertises saying one bike for one world. Guess their attitude towards customer's, dealer's or ASC is also the same. Here're few tit bits after speaking to Grayboys...
- They ordered about 20 oil filters, but Honda supplied only one. Anyway, they were ready to sell that one to me, unlike the dealer's in India. (Now here's where one can consider a positive approach on our dealers, if needed. They stopped selling counter sales just to protect the parts for their own customers.)
- I asked if they'd be able to place an order for workshop manual & they immediately agreed. They refer to their book of catalog from which they could order that also included the price. After looking into it, they said the entries are missing for workshop manual, which means they cannot order. However they'd entry for owner's manual.
So be it US or India (not sure about EU), Honda's attitude is pretty much the same; I could see a a large collection for Kawasaki & HD, but a very little Honda motorcycle. Anyway, I don't intent to say this guy sells a lot of Honda's, may be Honda could've supplied less motorcycles too. But if you look around this place, the highest brand of motorcycles sold next to Harley is Honda!!!Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

I can give a try on Tuesday (which is like Wednesday IST). But from my strongest opinion, they would take more than 1 or 2 weeks to get & I'm not sure I'll be here until then. That's the reason, I couldn't order any parts for C250R even for myself.Originally posted by BladeBoy View PostBro can they get a right RVM ?Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Guys, I will be using my friend's CBR for the next 2 weeks as he is out to Dubai. I will do the first service. Bike has run 900kms and had a deep fall. Left indicator and both mirrors are history. I heard Stunners indicators are a direct fit to CBR... How much it is true? And about first service, just change oil and oil filter..?? And I guess the mirrors wont be available here.... Anyone got the price of it... How much is the oil filter..??Ride, ride and ride.. But always do it responsibly..

@Aargee and Darknight: Thanks guys! I will wait for an update from you aargee. Appreciate your help. I would have bought the ones from dsg long time ago but the thing is that they are narrow at the tail. My issue is that the tank paint has begun to fade near its rear portion so I need a tank pad which has side flaps as well, that can cover it.
Something like this, from Yamaha: Yamaha GYTR R6 Tank Pad Carbon Fiber - Tobefast
Also, changing the topic I am experiencing some tappet noise, clearly indicating that the tappets are loose. But the SVC guys have not received the shims from HMSI. They will do so next month and then and only then would the tappets be adjusted. I need to go out on a 1000 km 2 day ride at the end of the month. Is it fine, to ride out with loose tappets? Would there be any damage to the engine?

i use the following attached image--starting from bottom of tank --some people just put it for show thoughOriginally posted by kurtrules View Post@Aargee and Darknight: Thanks guys! alternatively you can opt for this one which is available at dsg --comes with side pads as well
Keiti Carbon Combo Tankpad KT6000 - 1,490.00Rs
edit:does the noise increase when the engine heats up coz that's a normal tappet noise issue in which case a run of 1000 kms won't hurt much else waiting for the proper shims is a very long drawn process as I am waiting for them since day 1 of my purchase

Thanks! Yes, I saw that, didn't quite like though. Will wait for Aargee's update, before eventually ordering the 1490 one from DSG.
