  • Hi Guys, I am nearing my 2nd service, I don have the manual handy now. Can anyone tell me if there is an oil filter change in the second service?
If so i have to place an order now itself .

    • Good luck Amlan; keep us posted on what you finally choose & I hope you enjoy riding at Manipal.

@Titanic4u - Did you know if ASC didn't follow the routine service, they could be penalised by HMSI?

@Young - I don't have access to MC42's owner's manual, but when I checked MC41's, it clearly says to change the engine oil filter with every oil change which DOES make sense. So, if I were you, whether or not it is required, I would opt to change for an oil filter change. After all it only costs something like Rs 260 or so for every 6K kms.

PS - Did anyone notice? The C250R's oil change interval for MC41 engine is 12K kms & ours is 6K kms

Call me a noob, but i didn't know that My Oil filter was changed or not nor those ASC guys told me about it.

Last week, i complaint about my bike with few issues mentioned below:
          1. Over heating
          2. Sometime gear shift problem.
          3. Knocking while under 3k RPM in 3+ gears
          4. Vibration above 5k RPM in 4+ gears
          5. Max speed only 133(solo) on full throttle, tested in 6 lane clear highway
          6. Vibration on right foot peg b/w 4-4.5k rpm in gear 4-5

Now the ASC guys responded to me that you have lodge a complaint, please bring you bike for check-up. And now i came to know that Oil Filter was also not changed...

Waiting for the update from them, they have taken the time till evening.

Btw, Bike GURUs, cany conclusion from your end what could be the issue. Please quick response, I am going in evening for the update..

BTW one more News: Honda is launching their Riding gears for CBR250R(ASC guys showed me the Honda's mail regarding these gears).
          1. Jacket(M, L, XL, from 8 - 8.5k)
          2. Pant(M, L, XL, from 8 - 8.5k)
          3. Gloves(M, L, XL, from 2.5 - 3k)
Received a call from ASC, i went there for the update and about the problem if any and they said.
          1. We have done some cleaning
          2. Body has been tighten so there would be no Vibration now.
          3. We have tested 136KMH on the highway now everything looks fine.

Then i fired back that Honda is claiming for 150KMH and you are saying you have done 136 , don't you see any difference and Engine is under performing and I already stated that I am able to reach 133, what this +3kmh mke difference. Then they fell quiet and said, ok sir we are informing the Honda(their regional incharge) and will call you when Regional Incharge is here.
And they have no idea or knowledge about the Knocking and Vibration issue(and these issues are cropping everywhere, even Meerut's ASC is aware of it but these are not(Prakash Honda, Noida)).

Where are you giving for 2nd service ? I believe they have to compulsory check for valve clearance, etc...Do check with the SVC if they have the right equipments.

Isn't 6 K Kms for an oil change a bit too much in our condition ?...At this rate the CBR 250 engine may not last long...just my thought.

I dont see why that is a problem then. Manipal has everything from a Splendor to a Duke. And it doesnt rain throughout the year at all(whoever fed u that info ). Monsoon rains are heavy but the rest of the year it is pretty much H-O-T!

Yes RG, even i would prefer to change the oil filter for every oil change, but just wanted to know in case if it is not available (most probably) when I am in for service.

I will read the manually today what are the there for 2nd service and will check with the SVC tomorrow. I have done 4100Kms and expecting the 6K mark in another 10days.

And also guys please help me I am in a double mind to do only an oil change now for rest of the 2K kms to a good mineral oil. Although the current oil is still good and resulting in best figures (41kmpl & 158Kmph). This may be also because I have ridden 90% on highways. I have a mind set that alteast for a while a new engine must run with mineral oil. Got this mind set because as part of my engineering subjects I have read most of the aircraft engines are run in (50-100hrs) with mineral oil and using a syn oil during this period voids manufacturer's warrenty. But even they don't have any concrete reason to follow this. I am aware that motorcycle engines (variable speeds) are totally different from an aircraft engine (almost constant speeds). And also aware this may void honda's warrenty, but want to try this. Help me. Also please suggest a good 10W30 mineral oil.

He probably meant 6K; might've looked into Thai manual that says 12K

Excellent, excellent; good to hear. Now here's another tip; Wait for 2-3 days & then start following up with dealer & until he gets fed up & gives you that HMSI's personnel's number. Usually, the HMSI guys keep moving around & they may not be available in one region unless its required. Do what ever you want, nag, threaten, beat, send a limo or a chopper, but make sure that guy turns up to you.

No Ji; modern engines can withstand that; however, Regions like Chennai, Delhi that are blessed with high pollution WILL certainly need attention much before that.
