Read your posts and now I am scared as hell. What I noticed in particular was that my bike was taking ages to cross 8K rpm in 6th Gear. Till 7k it comes up well and fast and I don't notice any power deliver failure sort of thing till that but beyond 7K and specially beyond 7.5 K its like a 45 degree uphill task to get to 8k or beyond. Should I immediately pursue the thing with Honda dealers or give the bike sometime and check again in few days?Originally posted by aargee View Post

^^ Doesn't look like a good idea at all.. If you buy from Honda India, You get one for Rs. 260/-
These ones cost you Rs. 550+ a piece..
You can source yours from a different city if need be.. still it'll be cheaper including shipping..

Lol!!! Don'tOriginally posted by sumit512 View PostRead your posts and now I am scared as hell.
If you've completed K mark, the 8K should come up something like in few seconds. 130 should be able to doable in say 13-15 secs max. Isn't it right guys?Originally posted by sumit512 View PostWhat I noticed in particular was that my bike was taking ages to cross 8K rpm in 6th Gear
Then it should be fine. But anyway, I'll reserve this for others to comment as well.Originally posted by sumit512 View PostTill 7k it comes up well and fast and I don't notice any power deliver failure sort of thing till that
No; what you need to do is...Originally posted by sumit512 View PostShould I immediately pursue the thing with Honda dealers or give the bike sometime and check again in few days?
- Connect with another xBhpian who has C250R & does about 150 Kmph
- Compare your vehicle with his. Do this very carefully, if you're somewhere in South, its quite easier. Take it to track & measure your timing. Anything few seconds of difference is perfect. Or worst thing, take for a long ride on empty highway. Don't race though.
Perfect & a great choice to ruin warrantySkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Better to change it.Originally posted by pr4nav View PostSo we can use these oil filters for US models on Indian CBRs? Also, should I change the oil filter when I hit 1000km? The SVC guys don't seem to have any parts available for the bike.
Here is the pic of the filter after 615kms on my bike...you can see a lot of impurities. Insist the SVC guys or you take help from others, somehow get it and change it.
@amlanr_cbr,
You name a bike and Manipal has it. I do not think any issue taking the bike as long you have sufficient parking space. I would suggest, visit the place and then take it.

On what? Leaving the bike for long?Originally posted by AmlanR_CBR View Postand nobody else interested to help me out???

If I were you, I wouldn't trade the bike, unless I don't have money for my next meal. Find a way for safe storage. Think about this, even if you got 1.4L, you lost about 20K in say 2 months? Is that OK with you?
@bhs - Wow!!! that's some serious shavings. I did 2 changes & haven't seen such bad in any of them.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

+1. I did not even reply cause the answer would be so obvious....;-)... come to your university & look at the conditions & get it transported here.Originally posted by aargee View PostOn what? Leaving the bike for long?

Or take some assistance from experienced, reliable & matured rider to ride the bike from OR to KA. That might work out a little expensive or cheaper; or ship it through quality courier service.Originally posted by xxbomb View Posti wouldnt suggest you to ride this all the way from your home till here...:P
Another option would be is to take time & ride with sufficient breaks.

Amalan giving advise is easy..but how practical it will be is dependent on many things controlled by real life situation.....I think you have already made the right decision...see how the situation is at the new place and then take the decision, instead of taking one right now..Originally posted by AmlanR_CBR View PostThanks a lot for your suggestion bro!

Your oil filter paper is frayed may be because someone tried to clean it ,and reuse it ?Originally posted by bhs View PostBetter to change it.

No my main concern is that the salty atmosphere and year round rainfall may damage my bikeOriginally posted by bhs View PostBetter to change it.

understand your point aargee..but think it this way : i loose 20K now and be satisfied rather than loose 60k after 6 months with hardly 3k on odo!Originally posted by aargee View PostOn what? Leaving the bike for long?

anyways, em not willing to sell it..
thats secondary tension..primary one is to decide the fate of my bike...Originally posted by aargee View PostOr take some assistance from experienced, reliable & matured rider to ride the bike from OR to KA. Choice is your Amlan.
yaa i can drive straight to chennai, take a halt then take move on..take another halt and next direct to manipal..seems like a travel of 4-5 days..
In the worst case, do u guys think its good for the bike if left untouched for 4 months and then driven for another 1-2 months and then again untouched for another 4 months???
if it isint the way people are scaring me "the FI system will get damaged..the piston rings may jam...interior of the engine will be rusted"
then em 101% sure to keep it with me!!
Another option would be is to take time & ride with sufficient breaks.
@XXBomb;
no this is not my first bike nor is it my first long journey on a bike.. (although OR to KA is really some lonnnng distance and is not gonna be as easy as 2500kms sound)
therz open parking lot there and i can afford to buy a good quality rain proof bike cover though...no risk of thievery...just the rain and the salt!

Amlan - Looks like you made your point to sell the bike; if it were the case, no advices here would help
Whoa!!! who implanted those thoughts? May be you can add up...if it isint the way people are scaring me "the FI system will get damaged..the piston rings may jam...interior of the engine will be rusted" then em 101% sure to keep it with me!!
- Tires would stick to alloys & can never been ripped apart
- Tacho sticks to 0 all the time
- Seats become sticky & so on...
BTW, to ride from OR to Manipal, you don't need to show up in Chennai; you can go from OR-Hyderabad-BLR-Manipal.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Lol RG!
so u say all those FI damage and need to constantly keep the engine active and piston ring jamming due to non-usage and all those points are pretty false??
if thats true.. then u just saved my love mate!! u rock!!!
atleast for 2 yrs.. the bike will be ridden for less than 6 months out of the 24 months!!!

^^^ I'm not exageratting; but you need to find out a way to ride/transport your bike to Manipal than not riding it. I think you should do it unless you've DECIDED to sell it, which, in that case, you must DO IT NOW!!!Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
