Only in the 6th shoot past 5K RPM. Its a nice engine that really doesn't need a run in unlike other bikes. Just ensure to speed up gradually & remember NO sudden pickup even if you were chased by dogs!!!

Yup; lets do it. IMHO, lets start another thread & keep the ownership experience flowing on this. That way...
    1. Can help potential buyers to see if they can live with issues
    2. Help determine if the issues are of same type or different
Its difficult to not do that when the gears are harder and refuse to engage unless the bike is revved! The bike does love to be revved. Rode for around 50kms today (between Dahisar - Goregaon) and one thing is evident - gears are frigging hard! The hand holding the accelerator pains as well, a lot (riding after riding the pulsar didn't help one bit!).
Tried to rev easily though most of the time though many times, especially when going from gear 2 to gear 3, I just had to accelerate harder to engage the gears.
Will give it another shot tomorrow.

Then there's something seriously wrong with the bike or the way in which it is being ridden. I'd posted earlier in this thread as at which RPM's & gear's the engine knocks. IIRC, the 6th & 3.5K RPM knocks. So anything above it the bike takes it good. So 5K is much more than optimum to change gears.

Something gone wrong then; I use leather shoes when I ride to office & they're so soft to change & there're no marks on my shoes.

Lol!!! It wouldn't. Every bike has got its own dynamics. I used to ride Rx & then shifted to C250R. Many ppl complained on this issue on pain in the right hand wrist. But then, it only takes few 100 Kms to subside. For sure.

Way to go ruining the run-in . Just don't do that; going fast is different from accelerating fast.

Will try riding with shoes on (was doing it with my sandals on). And yes, changing gears at 5k RPM (from your post itself I got to know this!) is optimal. When I do change at 5k, that's when I have no problems in changing gears. Its when changing gears on a lower RPM say 3.5-4.5k, is when the gears make me work hard! I maybe wrong, its just that I thought changing gears at lower RPM shouldn't be much of a problem .

And I didn't accelerate hard - maybe a couple of times - but most other times was trying to accelerate gradually.

The bike was kept under 5k RPM at all times in trying to get accustomed to the gears!

Let me assure you that, I've no issues changing gears at any RPM & 4.5K is very much optimal considering the fact that 3.5K RPM at 6th gear is when the engine knocks. So changing gears at even a 4K RPM is fine.

Ideally you don't need to 5K is some magical number someone brought in here. Just accelerate gradually that should be fine & NEVER use hard engine braking (like 7K RPM to 3K RPM & 2 gears shift down) until you complete the 1000 Kms mark.

I'm not picking up from any store even if its in 5mi radius; I prefer online orders to be delivered.

Hi RG, I think there is already a spreadsheet with owners input prevailing here in the forum (in my signature). May be since it is in my signature it didn't get popular . I think we can use the below mentioned sheet, as i posted before any changes or improvements are always welcome. This idea was already proposed by MeTaL_MaNiaC couple of months back. I also felt it will be a one stop shop to know about the other's experience instead of going through every pages of the forum. If this sheet seems to be ok the regular posters can add this to their signature so that everyone visiting here will be aware of this .

Yes I wanted to discuss this for a long time and only this post reminded me of this. In my case initially i had no issues like wrist pain or back pain or anything only in my last few long rides(4x250+ kms) I face the below issue. (I wear a DSG revive gloves)

After riding for some good 50 or 60 kms without any break or issues my right arm holding the accelerator goes numb , at times when required sudden breaking my fingers refuse to reach the front brake lever quickly. I am not sure what the issue might me, I don't doubt the glove as it was good before, I checked the clipons to be aligned, I suspected the elbow pad choking the blood flow but even without it the same happened . I am 5'6" and I lean a bit forward but have never faced a wrist pain. Guys please help if the clip on needs to be adjusted anyway or it is problem with me ?

                  • ^^^ YK - To me, I had to adjust my riding posture often & I found, I was putting too much of my weight on the hands. Being an active right hand user, its quite natural for me to depend more on it. Just keep checking on yourself for every now & then. I too experienced numbness when I stopped checking on me for quite sometime.

My right hand went numb too on a long ride on my 220.. I thought about it later and realized that I was exerting too much pressure on the accelerator and in doing so the nerves operating the muscles for the index and middle finger had compressed - I couldn't use those two fingers properly for five days!

So check if you're gripping the accelerator tightly and try gripping it between your palm and the 3rd and 4th fingers instead of between your thumb and index fingers..

                        • Stained fingers

                          Dear All,

When I ride my CBR with no gloves, I see my fingers turn black where they are pressed against the clutch (left) and brake (right) levers.
After ride, when I wash my hand with soap, it gives dark foam and my fingers become clean.
I ensure to wipe the levers before the ride so as to remove any dirt on them.

Do any of you have the same experience? Please suggest any remedy.

                          Thank you,

You'll have to buy em from abroad.
