So what was the issue? AN ENGINE SEIZURE AFTER FIRST SERVICE!!! (READ 950+ Kms) Probably the first seizure in this country or worst case, first seizure in the entire.. All I'm asking is...WHY ME???

SHOCKING!!! My predictions came true! Honda has compromised the quality in India.

Now, whats the conclusion of experts at Honda?

What is the response from Honda regarding this?

      • i might be dumb Aargee but surely would like to ask you somethings-
        1) Did you check the oil level in the engine? Was it less or more?
        2) Did you inspect the firing of the bike before leaving for your ride (tour)?
        3) Which grade oil was used in your engine...Mentioned or Altered
        4) Was the spark plug fitting proper (improper fitting can cause piston jamming due to wrong combustion levels).
        5) Any type of load on engine in its entire Breakin in Period???
        6) Did you check the radiator functioning and coolant levels in the bike.

These are some of the questions which answers leads to what has happened.
Honda has surely shown poor quality as this is the right example. I suggest dont lose hope which you are at the moment as there is a solution to all this. Keep tight buddy.

Dont forget to shoot a mail to the head of the dept also, do keep everyone in loop as this is the first case iam hearing regarding such damages....

          Sue them I say

My problem is that I have yet to find someone who actually knows the bike inside out.the mech's at my svc are very minimalistically trained by honda.

And guess what? In 12 days of ownership, vehicle has run precisely 1234 Kms (as of now) and has stood in ASC for about 8 days & 4 days with me.

"1200+ kms in 4 days, you shouldn't ride so much on a new bike"

            Did they?

@aargee :- I would say start a new thread so that it gains as much publicity as possible.

Honda supplied 20W-40. Verfied that it can be used in the workshop manual

Spark plus wasn't removed from the day one (assume its factory fitted) right from 41 Kms when it was on ODO at dealership

Lets give sometime to HMSI before jumping on things. I'll certainly post an update.

Ravi, Patiencewins, DK - I'm trying to take this positively until now as I don't want to jump to conclusions. Walking to court isn't a better option as we have better things to do in life isn't it? Isn't it better to claim refund & put the money else where? Much easier isn't it? But wait, I haven't come to that conclusion yet. Trust me, the bike is certainly good. I've got it today after 8 days at ASC, let me see how it performs for next 1K kms & then we can proceed with next steps.

@Sarvajit - I'd started a thread on polishing last year that talk on lacquer & clear coat. Pls try to search that or give me some time, I'll find out for you.

WTF??????? This is outrageous RG !!!

Speak to HMSI and make your expectations clear, as we discussed. If they don't budge, make life hell for them. Send them a legal notice and lodge a complaint in the consumer court. Ask for a refund (not a replacement) and financial expenses for mental trauma, etc.

This is certainly not expected from Honda.

Remember the Nano fire incident? One guy went to a consumer court and demanded a mercedes after his nano got gutted on the second day. Tata offered a replacement but the guy did not budge. He had a choice to get a new nano car but finally the court got him a full refund.

Take this to the press. Write to all the magazines with proof if Honda does not oblige. This will dent their sales and their image in the market.

                    All the best.

My bike was completely opened and guess what. The complete cone-set is rusted. This is just after a month of usage & 1100 kms on ODO. My byke is in total litter lying at the service center. The quality of the spares used in this bike is so bad. I think these images would show you what I am talking about.
I am in line as well. Hope everybody has see this post. I am still riding a bike with play in the handle bar and the bike is no longer smooth and vibrates badly on rough roads. Have been calling Honda Pune everyday.

                          • Looking at all the quality issues of this so called Honda CBR, I am happy that I postponed this purchase. Now only if Kawasaki could reduce the prices of the baby Ninja the CBR can get hit badly, very badly.

I would advice you to post this in the international forums too, and make sure that people worldwide don't purchase MADE IN INDIA CBR's.

Brings me nothing but cold shivers. Seeing the Piston marked like anything, Expecting the bore also to have quite a lot of scuff marks which will make it non-usable. Would suggest to demand for an Engine replacement. Yes, it is possible & I've done it in my old 220.

Don't get me wrong by misunderstanding what i'm trying to say here:

I'm still a student so I can't fully appreciate the sort of hard work and money that has gone into buying this bike for each one of you but I do understand the sentiments and the attachment you have to your bikes specially aargee after what's happened to your bike.. Pains me to even think about something like that happening to my bike..

What i'm trying to say here is this: It was a mistake on Honda's part. A probabilistic anomaly. From what is evident, it was a factory error and you have to keep in mind that these things have a very low probability of occurring. Sure Honda seems to have compromised quality for the CBR in India but one can't start sabotaging their sales.

Again, don't get me wrong, I too would be furious and would feel like ripping Shinji Aoyama's head off but I wouldn't. Aargee will of course be refunded or even better, provided with a new bike and things will be normal again and this probabilistic anomaly will be forgotten..

Lets not go on pure emotions and think before we act..
