Simply NOT ACCEPTABLE!! Your new bike has definitely taken your sleep and peace of mind away!!
Though it may be a "one in a million" case as of now, what about the quality check? Aagree, i mailed HMSI(from their site) for a scratch on my tank a few days ago, there was no reply. But then, i mailed them again with a word of consumer court and the next day i was called every half hour from all corners of HMSI.. No matter how they fix the engine back, it will always pinch your heart. Just dont accept repair. Ask for Replacement and get it done.
You gotta risk it.. to get da biscuit !!!

How does one do? Can't physically ride to Gurgaon to meet them isn't it?

Everytime you see the bike, you know that its engine is not the same one that has been shipped from the factory. You know that its heart has been transplanted. Every single time you take the bike out, you get an eerie feeling if it would leave me stranded on the road. You simply lost the faith; a lost faith is lost for a long & takes lot of time to reestablish the trust.
very true..even if the bike gives you no problem for the next 1,00,000 Kms, every time you sit on it and start to your destination, esp., on tours you are not sure of a peaceful mind....which takes away ,the very purpose of owning it.Try to put it behind you, or if you are still troubled take an alternate decision.

Trust me, I lost my sleep & peace of mind for over a week since the day my C250R was left at the Honda ASC.

One thing for sure, HMSI & the dealers did a good job & they didn't let me down. But for sure, their knowledge needs to improve a lot. What we learn through forums are far superior than what they learn through training. If HMSI recruits one C250R fan from this forum, trust me that dealership will be rocking in the country. So for that matter I'd to keep calling them over & over again, multiple times, several follow ups both with dealer as well as HMSI personnel.

        Tks @Aneesh

But for sure, THIS IS CERTAINLY NOT ACCEPTABLE FROM HONDA!!!
An engine seizure on a run in bike is definitely not expected and acceptable from any manufacturer least of all Honda

I could really feel the pain from your words.. Good times that you spend with your bike will surely help you overcome the scars.. else i strongly suggest you find an alternate.. I am sure it is not an easy decision to do so. but half mind never gives complete satisfaction...

First none of the products which i use is Aerosol based.
Picked some of them when i went to US, some of them were bought from US by friends and relatives.
Are you getting the new Megs Complete Car care Kit ?

Can you help understand ^^^ pls?

What is this? Is this a paint or wax sealant?

What is this? I apply tire polish (like Son of Gun) that involves just one step. The resultant is needless to say amazing. On any non rainy weather & dusty condition, the tire stands amazing for about a week. Even after a week a gentle wipe is all that is required (not even a wash)

Tip - Apply Collinite 845 on the RVM's & guess what? It shines well, attracts less dust & acts as excellent water repellant during rains (but don't use it on headlamps, does more of damage during rains)

              1. Clean the surface well (very very very important)
              2. Shake the bottle well (atleast 2-3 minutes) & apply the wax generously on the surface
              3. Wait for about 15-20 mts until the wax turns to white in color
              4. Use MF & only good quality MF to scrub the surface for shine from the wax
              5. If possible repeat steps 2 to 4 once again for a thick layer of wax for longer protection

If possible share the price in public or PM. Did you also get a MF cloth free along?
I was talking about lacquering on the tank which is metal. The reason i am suspecting it to be lacquering because the scratch what i have is a very light and i have removed such scratches with ease using Megs Swirlx and Megs UC on my car.
Yes, just by hand, no polisher.

If you see couple of pics where i have masked the joins between the red fiber and black plastic using regularly masking tape. The reason being first, the wax would go and sit in those gaps and its painful to remove it. Secondly, Wax on such black plastic becomes white over a day and looks very ugly. And then removing the whiteness on those black plastic is hell lot of task.

Here is the link to 303 Aerospace protectant. If you want just the black plastics to look just black. Use this.
              303 Aerospace Protectant, 303 aerospace, 303 protectant, aerospace protectant, 303 products, 303

Here is the link to Megs Ultimate Protectant. If you want the plastics to be little glossy, you can use this.
Meguiars Ultimate Protectant, rubber and vinyl protectant, rubber dressing

Regarding Tire gel, it is similar as other Tire polish\gel. I liked turtle Tire gel. Durability is also pretty good.

Couple of suggestions from my side to all.
Just buy Collinite and Optimum No Rinse (ONR).
Collinite, you can use it anywhere. I use on my car front windscreen also. Excellent water beeding and lasts long.
ONR, this is something i carry in my car always. I generally clean my car once in 15-20 days but use ONR almost daily as detailer. If you find a small dirt on your bike, just use ONR and clean it, you need not wash your bike for that. I clean the whole car in flat 10-12 min with the ONR quick detailer.
Blue spray bottle in the pic i attached in my previous post is the ONR diluted as Detailer.

Other important things with above products, invest on good Microfibers and a duster like Jopasu or California duster.

I think, i should stop here and not confuse you guys anymore

              @aargee,
I am really sorry to hear the state of your bike. It hurts a lot and scary too. As suggested by others please create a new thread, so that it comes to notice of all.

                • Yes as said by many here faith is like virginity once lost it is lost forever. Though my CBR has completed nearly 2100Kms without any issue I started doubting its capability to live with me after reading these posts.
I think honda has launched it in a hurry to capture this segment buyers as soon as possible compromising quality. I also doubt the india specific model has lots of parts made local for cost reduction from that steering cone rust incident. God and honda only knows. But still I hope I got a good bike made mistakenly good by honda. Will soon test its limits after it crosses 4K. I should get my extended warrenty before it is late.

And also i'd like to share that I am a proud owner of a tata nano cx (almost same price of my CBR). I bought it even after said it was a suicide cage. It has been 15 months and 10K Kms now, not a single problem with it, still serving the pupose more than expected. And i have never regreted for that purchase. Hope I'll get that mindset soon.

                  • Guys, Anybody filled nitrogen ?

And one more question, what to do when there is a puncture and you need to remove the wheel from the bike to test if the puncture is fixed properly ?
                    "No Center Stand"..remember...

Yes. I filled Nitrogen the very first day. And after about 50days and 2400kms, the tire pressure seems still the same. Plus it also has many other advantages as we can google around.
Regarding puntures, we may need to take it to a shop who has such an arrangement, or simply use a small table or box of appropriate size to support the swing arm or front shocks.. I used the same for my altered RXZ with no main stand.. As the tires are tubeless, atleast we can take it to a tire shop nearby without much difficulty

As everyone knows both the tyres are tubeless. To check if there is any puncture in a tubeless tyres mechanics usually use the following approach.
Take a soap solution and a paint brush apply the soap solution slowly on the entire surface of the tyre after filling it with air. If it has got any puncture it wil make bubbles out of the soap layer applied.

For the centre stand concern. What i would suggest is remove the entire wheel and give some support to the bike and check the tyres and fit it back. Do this only if you are confident to put it back. Apart from this i do not see any possiblities to this centre stand concern. Any body with any better solution to this?

Its tubeless, no need to remove the tire!!! Buy a puncture kit.

its like after getting bloodtest for malaria a patient was told negetive of the problem, but he was actually infected, what went wrong, the test ?no,its the margin of error,it will be there,.anyway.its really heard to see it happened to a guy who is knowledgeable like you,if it was happened to any other joe,it would have been a different story.
its not like bal is also fool proof, there are incidence of engine mishaps both dtsi and fi models known to me.

HMSI as a company acknowledges the issue & fixes it. They're more keen to get the damaged engine for their R&D rather than helping me to understand how to move forward.

Did you read my previous posts? Any guy who's religiously following this thread should be more knowledgable than HMSI's engineers.

Yes, when speaking to one of the mechanic, they said the initial lot of Unicorns had few issues, but none related to engines, more related to the suspensions.
