Hope you're reading my log on Fourteen days; I'm updating things over there. Aayaz was very helpful & I owe him one; if he wasn't there, I would've decided to stay at Ahmedabad for the day & would've skipped riding to Mt Abu.Originally posted by ankitipr View PostBTW did u met Aayaz from XBhp ahmedabad? On C250R, remember, its not required to rev, just start the vehicle & keep it idling until the first temp bar is visible. Atleast, this is what my Wife did while I was away for 30+ days. The vehicle started on first crank when I came back.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

my cbr!
i often read ppl here complaining about the maximum speed acheived!
now here is my experience! i am 6' tall and i weigh 95 kgs! intially in early days i touched 145 riding alone and 135 kmph with pillion on(before first service)! after the first service, there was a drop in speed. i couldnt go beyond 137 kmph riding alone! i was surprised!
but last week when i went on a ride intially i touched max of 140 kmph` and later on my way back i touched a mind boggling speed of 150 kmph! i actually saw 150 and felt the bike could hav done few more kms! and believe me it was all on a flat road!
has anyone done more speed on their CBR???

What I percieve is...
The tops speeds aren't assured; it sometimes is 150, sometimes 130ish on the same bike with the same person. So the broad attributes that can vary are...
1. Wind
2. Roads
I really don't know what to say, but, I get a feeling that...
- 120 can be achieved easily
- 135ish a little by pushing
- Anything above these are not guaranteed
But again guys, there's nothing in the top speed. On a long trip, it doesn't matter how fast you ride, it matters on how much are you able to keep up with; Eg, if C250R keeps up 135ish, try keeping it at the same speeds no matter its an uphill, against the wind & keep riding continously. I'm sure the vibes are a big turn off on those RPM's.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Couldnt have waited for a better time to book mine. 36 days and countingOriginally posted by thefastestindian View Posthonda genuine accessories started to roll out :
I went to the service centre to get my chain fixed and some other minor adjustments and to my surprise the mechanic said they started receiving spares for the CBR. They got the side panels, clutch plates and few other parts from honda. The surprisaing part is that honda also sent carbon fiber look alike panels.
hmm totally different from what a few other owners reported about tyre grip on wet surfaces.Originally posted by aargee View Post

Sry to say, WELL is an underrated word!!! I'm doing Vellore to Udaipur ONLY in rains & the performance is BRILLIANT!!! Even the hard potholes at JNPT, Mumbai was handled very well. The rear pro-Link suspension is amazing, really really amazing. Does a wonderful job.
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

All new owners complained because the tyres were still new and lacked the grip on wet roads. However, as the tyres are run in, the grip gets better. My bike at 2k kms done, I feel far more comfortable in riding in the rains now than I was earlier, all because the tyre grip seems to have improved considerablyOriginally posted by Nithesh View PostCouldnt have waited for a better time to book mine. 36 days and counting

I personally did 165kmph on my recent trip to ooty via bangalore. I managed to touch 165kmph mark on the NICE ring road. and on the NH7 (hyd-bangalore highway) I crossed 150 kmph multiple times. CBR does 130 like a piece of cake. after which 140 takes lil time, 150 takes more time and 165 takes a lil more time depending on the crosswinds. On Nice ring road there was a stretch where there were hills on either sides and the road just levelled down with a straight open stretch. I crouched till my chest touched the tank, helmet down and I was having a tough time peeping through the helmet. After shifting at 10.5k RPM, The bike touched 165 KMPH. Even at that speeds, Bike handled like a charm. and never the less, ABS worked superbly. I don't regret spending the extra 30k or so on getting an ABS.Originally posted by ASIF AHMED View Posti often read ppl here complaining about the maximum speed acheived!

If anyone remembers, I spent several posts lamenting on the hydroplaning of the tires. Then, suddenly, at 1.2k, the hydroplaning problem vanished. No thanks to Continental tires, whose solution to the problem was, "Enough people do not have this problem, so you should just drive more carefully. We cannot help you."Originally posted by chicmagnet View PostAll new owners complained because the tyres were still new and lacked the grip on wet roads. No talk about helping me solve the problem, testing it thoroughly or replacing the tires.
Thankfully, the problem went away on its own after 1.2k. I am still not too happy about the wet grip of the tire, especially while cornering. Though I suppose I can definitely wait till 2k as chicmagnet says, to see if the wet grip improves.
Also, did anyone notice that while taking very gentle corners like those on NH4 at speeds like 110-125, the rear wheel does not seem to always maintain perfect contact with the road. This never happened with my Karizma even though I used to take each of those corners at it top speed of 125. Is the tire at fault or should I try changing the rear suspension pre-load?

The best way to judge actual top speed is to do the run both ways on the same road and calculate average.Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

the swaying on corners is beacause of softer suspension-- tweaking it to a more rigid setup will only be helpful a little bit ,but the bike's not meant to eat cornersOriginally posted by sunkenpirate View PostIf anyone remembers, I spent several posts lamenting on the hydroplaning of the tires. for wet grips -- never had any issue on straight road but is not confidence inspiring on wet cornerssigpic
