    • Just bringing up an "old" topic here, about the top speed.
Here's a link for a guy who managed 174!!! Damn. 3 more than me.

You get a glimpse of the road in the video, and I guess it's fairly flat.

Even now I'd say...BAL quality sucks!!!
But, its better to put on P220's chain & keep riding & then waiting for C250R's parts rather than locking up C250R in the garage isn't it?

I'm not very sure about Bajaj's quality in general. But I completely agree with your second statement.
Also, after switching over to this, I didn't find any difference in usability. It felt the same. Moreover, I intend to use my rear brakes very rarely and trying to cultivate the habit of not keeping my foot over the rear brakes.

You are wrong on this one kid.

Its better than the quality which you got in your Honda CBR 250R.

So, don't spit crap in here ! I know you knowing about bikes. Even you don't know about Spark Plugs..

BAL has light years to improve upon their quality; though I respect & admire BAL, I wouldn't like to own their products until they improve their quality; the way their RTZ rattled is the same way even now Pulsar 220 rattles. Again, this is my personal opinion that may or may not change in future as I don't have intentions to offend my friends who own the brand.

Just go back few pages, I remember someone posting the availability of parts at their nearest ASC; not sure who it is, but somewhere from North.

Which means, the oil can do its job when the temp is 30. Now, does Chennai have 30 degree even in Winter? I don't think so; this is one of the reason why I hesitate to switch from 20W-40.
As far as I know, if XXwYY is the viscosity grade of an engine oil, then
                          XX - Viscosity at 0 degree C
                          YY - Viscosity at 100 degree C

Let us compare 10w30 and 20w40 oils
At 0 degree C, the 10w30 is less viscous (less thick) as compared to 20w40
At 100 degree C, the 10w30 is less viscous (less thick) as compared to 20w40

As a result, at lower temperature, 10w30 gives lower starting problems, whereas at higher temperatures, it is too runny to perform the function of lubrication of metal parts and heat conduction away from engine.

Compared to this, the 20w40 is thicker at start up (though as aargee correctly said, the lowest annual temperatures in places like Pune and Chennai are too high to worry about oil freezing in sump). Also, it performs better at higher temperatures than 10w30, due to its having higher viscosity then 10w30 at 100 degrees C. Hence, it might be a better choice over the 10w30 in hotter places.

                          • Sunkenpirate - Buy all your points & word by word they're true; my point is same as yours - "due to its having higher viscosity then 10w30 at 100 degrees C. Hence, it might be a better choice over the 10w30 in hotter places"

This is the reason I'm sticking with 20W-40, though I love to experiement with 10W-30 sometimes. But the very thought of this viscosity etc are quite disturbing. So I want to stay away from it.
