No offence to you sir but this bike is more focused towards low and mid range torque and not top speed or say high speed . I will give you an example few days back i went to Mahabaleshwar its a hill station and while climbing ghats i remember i hardly downshifted once or twice in 30kms ghat ( i was @ 4th-5th gear ) to get bike into powerband a little twist and bike used to takeoff like am riding on straight roads . Again i dont mean to offend any one .Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostIts not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

my solo experiance - when i shift the gear at 5-6RPM, the top speed which i achieved was 135kmph at 8.5RPM, however i achieved 130kmph in 5th gear sumwhere arnd at 9.5-10k RPM this time i did 140kmph. could have done more but i didnt .Originally posted by aargee View PostOk, what about the other thing as what he says; raise till 5-6K RPM & then shift the gear; what's the top speed you get with this method? Somewhere in 135ish as he says?
Who all have tried these? Pls help with a list.Four wheels move the body. Two wheels move the soul.

I can't obviously raise to higher RPM's in lower gears as I've hardly crossed 700 Kms in the new engine block.Originally posted by Nithesh View PostDon't tell me u were shifting at lower rpms and expected the bike to cross 150
5K RPM!!!Originally posted by Nithesh View PostBack when you had a problem with the old engine, you mentioned bike not going past 135. So what rpms were u shifting at?
I'll get this tested next week after 1K Kms & engine oil change. My gut feeling is that, the bike will not cross more than 8.5K RPM at 6th gear in solo & 7.5K RPM with pillion; same issue as previous engine.Originally posted by r13nick View Postmy solo experiance - when i shift the gear at 5-6RPM, the top speed which i achieved was 135kmph at 8.5RPM, however i achieved 130kmph in 5th gear sumwhere arnd at 9.5-10k RPM this time i did 140kmph. could have done more but i didnt .Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Wondering if Honda engineers are available in Mumbai? Would like them to work on the bike especially the front part where the coneset might be a problem as mentioned by other owners.
The service center guys weren't exactly forthcoming and said it is a tyre pressure problem BAH!
A quick question: Should I be taking my bike over 5K rpm? I did get my bike serviced and the oil filter changed but I had only done 587 kms.

Top speed discussion here is really tempting me to give another good attempt
. Tried last saturday on the elevated toll way on the hosur road, could only manage to reach 150, There was a brutal head wind which made even 150 very difficult. I have managed to touch 153 around bangalore (which is bit high in altitude) before my second service and my top speed beign 158 in the outskirts of madurai NH7.
I usually shift from 5-6 @7K rpm where there is peak torque available and that is how it needs to be done shifts at peak torque point gets you to the topspeed faster.
All the speeds mentioned above are from speedo.Explore the unexplored!

Try shifting up all gears at around 9-9.5K RPM-the peak power output being at 8.5K RPM, this will ensure that you are still well within the powerband even though RPM will drop by about 5-700 RPM when the clutch is pulled in. Again depends on how fast you shift.Originally posted by Youngking View PostTop speed discussion here is really tempting me to give another good attempt

On the R15, we keep the throttle wide open&upshift without releasing the throttle, with just half clutch. Try it once in a safe highway&then report topspeed but don't do it too often!

I called up my ASC today .. and they said the man who inspects cbr is on leave ... please come tommorrow ! and the fellow who picked up the phone openly said " Sir we dont touch CBR unless or until the main tech directs us what to do " and I wondered ... what if he is ill or resigned his job ? whom should we go to ?Originally posted by TrueBlueBikeR View PostYes srivaastav it's a common issuewith most of cbr owners with rusting issues,if your cone set is rusted your bike will wobble and feel unstable on roads, after sorting your cone set go for tire replacement as the contigo lacks grip,my friend upgraded to pirelli sports demon both front and rear by giving his contigo and trading for pirelli set by paying just 3000 rs but the grip is amazing and bike feels confident to ride and corner, a much needed upgrade.

I really hope its not as big as you say .... when I say big its simple because of spares and its giving nightmares to most of the owners by waiting for long time !
But isnt yours wobbling at high speed ? mine at low speed ... may be it could cone set and is there anyway it could be because of overtightened bolt ?

Finally the day has come and got my CBR today evening @ Saphire Honda..

^^^ Congrats. Trust me, once you're used to that position, you'll start loving it. I feel very scared to apply hard brakes on my Rx. I'm loving the forward leaning posture; I used to curse the engineering on the bikes these days which are not in straight sitting posture compared to the ones in 60's. After riding forward leaning posture, it has completely changed my opinion. I'm loving it.
3 weeks is the maximum time it takes to get aquianted with the new riding style. Keep riding until then
