They wont be going to mod the engine for two countries. Simply modify the intake and exhaust systems and u are done. Case in point the RX series ( smaller carb here, bigger there ). The indian FZ when launched abroad comes with a bigger carburettor and a smaller rear tyre.

The power difference could be due to a more restricted exhaust, since emission norms are more stringent here. So a bigger cat-con wouldve sapped the additional power.

^^^ No JD; the power difference is due to valve angles at exhaust, not sure about intake though.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Uhh.... any take on this guys?Originally posted by dreamseller View PostToday while returning back from work, my bike made muffled "boom" kind of a sound. Kind of like as if it misfired. Or probably, it actually did. Does my bike need help?
It's about 10 days and 300kms old and I do not cross 5k on the tacho, normally. Have touched 7k twice though, but then sanity took over.
Edit: If you have heard a FFE attached Royal Enfield misfire, you'd understand the kind of sound I'm talking about.
Really scared the living daylights out of me. And I also realised, this has happened earlier as well. Just that it didn't register in my active mind to take notice.

Oh so after the second service the 6K interval is applicable rite?Originally posted by Youngking View PostI think you are guessing it by the 6K service interval 1K run in + 6K. Yes according to that 3rd service comes on 12K. But the second service has to be done on 6K according to the manual and also you can clearly feel the need of a service when you reach 6K
. I did 1st service @710kms. I and it is more than 5200kms now after that. And also it is not mandatory you should exactly follow the manual, it all depends on how you use and when it needs care.
. thanks for the info, I was waiting to do the second service at 7K

Got the bike after the Second service (oil change, oil filter change, chain lube, clutch ply adjusted etc). Rode just few kms found nearly no improvement in engine smoothness
, have used the same Honda Throttle SS 10W30 oil again. Hope it will get better as it runs few more kms.
Got my old oil filter back not much visible fragments. Found little different to ride, need to test tonight extensively.Explore the unexplored!

Shims seem fine, there's no tappet noise.Originally posted by aargee View PostYes; not acceptable. May be something to check inside the engine. Shim probably
Ok, well, this bike as well as the previous CBZ-X are used only for touring. I do-not commute on two wheels at all. Firstly, I don't find time and secondly I prefer to be in the comfort of the the air-conditioner of my car rather than sweating it out in sweltering heat, in delhi traffic.Originally posted by aargee View PostWhy?
Hence the CBR, has done 3200 of the 4200 kilometers on tours, mostly hilly tours. I have done 3 already. And yes, I engine brake a lot, single/double downshifts while descending. That's the reason I prefer to change the oil in 2-2.5k kms. Just precautionary measures nothing else.
Answered above. There are many instances of sudden acceleration. Anyhow, I have ridden the bike to office today especially just to figure out. The harshness is still there, I believe it should go away with the second service which I plan to have done at 5KOriginally posted by aargee View PostThat's no reason IF it were ridden sane on those speeds & more. Mean, no sudden acceleration/engine braking often. IMO, the bike can keep doing 70-75 mph (130-140 Kmph) all day. I really mean all through the day. But only thing is that those speeds shouldn't be reached by redlining, but through natural course." I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not" - Kurt Cobain
